Description
The present invention relates to an electrophotographic photoreceptor.
In an electrophotographic printer or a multifunction machine, an electrophotographic photosensitive member is used as an image carrier. In general, an electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer provided directly or indirectly on the conductive substrate. A photoreceptor comprising a charge transport material, a charge generation material, and a photosensitive layer containing a resin (organic material) that binds these materials is called an electrophotographic organic photoreceptor. Among the electrophotographic organic photoreceptors, those that have separate layers for the charge transport function due to the inclusion of the charge transport material and the charge generation function mainly due to the inclusion of the charge generation material are the laminated electrophotographic photosensitive members. Called the body. An electrophotographic photoreceptor in which the charge transport material and the charge generation material are included in the same layer and both functions of charge generation and charge transport are realized in the same layer is referred to as a single layer type electrophotographic photoreceptor.
On the other hand, an electrophotographic inorganic photosensitive member using an inorganic material (for example, selenium or amorphous silicon photosensitive member) is also exemplified as the photosensitive member. The electrophotographic organic photoreceptor has advantages such as relatively little influence on the environment and easy film formation and manufacture as compared with the electrophotographic inorganic photoreceptor, and is therefore used in many image forming apparatuses at present. Yes.
Among the charge transport materials applicable to single-layer and multilayer-type organic photoreceptors, examples of the hole transport agent that transports holes include the butadienylbenzeneamine derivatives described in Patent Document 1. Butadienylbenzenamine derivatives are excellent in hole transport ability.
However, when a butadienylbenzenamine derivative is used as a hole transport agent in the photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor, sufficient electrical properties and abrasion resistance may not be obtained.

Specific examples of the base resin for charge generation layer include styrene-butadiene copolymer, styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, styrene-maleic acid copolymer, acrylic copolymer, styrene-acrylic acid copolymer, polyethylene resin, Ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, chlorinated polyethylene resin, polyvinyl chloride resin, polypropylene resin, ionomer resin, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, alkyd resin, polyamide resin, polyurethane resin, polysulfone resin, diallyl phthalate resin, ketone Examples include resins, polyvinyl acetal resins, polyvinyl butyral resins, polyether resins, silicone resins, epoxy resins, phenol resins, urea resins, melamine resins, epoxy acrylate resins, and urethane-acrylate resins. A polyvinyl butyral resin is preferably used as the base resin for the charge generation layer. The base resin for charge generation layer may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
Usually, a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer are formed. Therefore, in the multilayer electrophotographic photosensitive member, the base resin for the charge generation layer is preferably a resin different from the binder resin so as not to be dissolved in the solvent used for the coating liquid when forming the charge transport layer. .

The hole transport agent preferably contains a compound having a styryltriarylamine structure (hereinafter referred to as a styryltriaryl derivative).
In the styryl triarylamine derivative, since the arylamine group is present, it can effectively contribute to suppression of electrical characteristics, particularly residual potential. The reason why such an effect can be obtained can be estimated as follows.
In the styryl triarylamine derivative, since the arylamine group exists, the ionization potential can be lowered. Thereby, the energy gap of charge transfer between the styryl triarylamine derivative and the charge generator is reduced, and the charge transport efficiency can be effectively improved. In particular, when a styryl triarylamine derivative is used as the hole transport agent contained in the charge transport layer in the
And since a styryl triarylamine derivative has an arylamine group, the solubility to a solvent can be improved.
The content of the hole transport agent containing the styryltriarylamine derivative is preferably 30 parts by mass or more and 60 parts by mass or less, and 30 parts by mass or more with respect to 100 parts by mass of the binder resin contained in the
By setting the content of the hole transporting agent including the styryltriarylamine derivative in such a range, the dispersibility of the styryltriarylamine derivative in the

Examples of typical nitrogen-containing cyclic compounds and condensed polycyclic compounds as hole transporting agents include styryltriarylamine compounds (excluding styryltriarylamine derivatives), oxadiazole compounds (for example, 2, 5-di (4-methylaminophenyl) -1,3,4-oxadiazole), styryl compounds (eg 9- (4-diethylaminostyryl) anthracene), carbazole compounds (eg polyvinyl carbazole), organic Polysilane compounds, pyrazoline compounds (for example, 1-phenyl-3- (p-dimethylaminophenyl) pyrazoline), hydrazone compounds, indole compounds, oxazole compounds, isoxazole compounds, thiazole compounds, thiadiazole compounds, Imidazole compounds, pyrazo Le-based compound, or triazole-based compounds. In addition, a hole transport agent may be used individually by 1 type, and may be used in combination of 2 or more type.
As described above, when the hole transport agent different from the styryl triarylamine derivative is further contained, the content of the hole transport agent is 1 part by mass or more and 100 parts by mass or less with respect to 100 parts by mass of the binder resin. Preferably there is.
In the
The average primary particle diameter of the silica fine particles is preferably 7 nm or more and 50 nm or less. When the particle diameter of the silica fine particles is less than 7 nm, the electrophotographic photosensitive member may be inferior in wear resistance or foreign matter may be generated on the surface of the photosensitive layer. On the other hand, when the particle diameter of the silica fine particles exceeds 50 nm, the dispersibility of the silica fine particles in the binder resin may be lowered.
In the
The silica fine particles are surface-treated with a surface treatment agent in order to improve wear resistance and crack resistance. Examples of the surface treatment agent for silica fine particles include hexamethyldisilazane, N-methyl-hexamethyldisilazane, N-ethyl-hexamethyldisilazane, hexamethyl-N-propyldisilazane, dimethyldichlorosilane, or polydimethylsiloxane. Is mentioned. Since the reactivity with the hydroxyl group on the surface of the silica fine particles is good, it is particularly preferable to use hexamethyldisilazane as the surface treatment agent for the silica fine particles. When hexamethyldisilazane is used as the surface treatment agent, the reactivity with the hydroxyl groups on the surface of the silica fine particles is good, so that the hydroxyl groups on the surface of the silica fine particles are reduced. As a result, it is possible to suppress a decrease in electrical characteristics of the photoreceptor due to moisture (humidity).
Furthermore, by using hexamethyldisilazane as the surface treatment agent, release of the surface treatment agent from the surface of the silica fine particles can be suppressed. For this reason, it is possible to suppress a decrease in sensitivity repeatability due to the liberated surface treatment agent becoming a trap of charges. Further, by including the silica fine particles and the phthalocyanine pigment in the

A resin different from the binder resin used in the
The viscosity average molecular weight of the binder resin is preferably 40000 or more, and more preferably 40000 or more and 60000 or less. If the viscosity average molecular weight of the binder resin is too low, the wear resistance of the binder resin cannot be increased, and the charge transport layer is likely to be worn. On the other hand, when the viscosity average molecular weight of the binder resin is too high, it becomes difficult to dissolve in the non-halogen polar and non-polar mixed solvent. As a result, it becomes difficult to form a suitable charge transport layer, for example, it becomes difficult to prepare a coating solution for the charge transport layer.

(2) Evaluation of electrical properties of the photoreceptor after the liquid life (using the coating liquid whose time has elapsed after manufacture) In order to accelerate the liquid life of the coating liquid for the charge transport layer, the coating liquid for the charge transport layer is The charge transport layer coating solution was circulated and the charge transport layer coating solution 30 days after preparation of the coating solution was drummed to prepare a charge transport layer coating solution after the liquid life. Using the coating liquid for the charge transport layer after the liquid life, the same operation as that of the photoreceptor A-1 is performed, and the electricity after the liquid life of the photoreceptors A-2 to A-25 and the photoreceptors B-1 to B-3 is obtained. A sample for characteristic evaluation was prepared. The electrical property evaluation was evaluated in the same manner as the electrical property evaluation before the liquid life described above, using the sample for electrical property evaluation after the liquid life. The measurement environment was a temperature of 23 ° C. and a humidity of 50% RH.

Liquid difference Delta] E 1/2 and E 1/2 of life before the E 1/2 and the liquid after life greater than 0.05μJ / cm 2, is less than -0.05μJ / cm 2, the photosensitive members However, when ΔE 1/2 was −0.05 μJ / cm 2 or more and 0.05 μJ / cm 2 or less, the electrical characteristics of each photoconductor were good.
(3) Abrasion resistance evaluation The charge transport layer coating solution prepared in the production of any one of photoconductors A-1 to A-25 and photoconductors B-1 to B-3 was prepared using an aluminum pipe (diameter: 78 mm) was applied to a polypropylene sheet (thickness: 0.3 mm). This was dried at 120 ° C. for 40 minutes to produce a wear evaluation test sheet on which a charge transport layer having a thickness of 30 μm was formed.
From this polypropylene sheet, the charge transport layer was peeled off and attached to a wheel S-36 (manufactured by Taber) to prepare a sample. The prepared sample is set in a rotary abrasion tester (manufactured by Toyo Seiki Seisakusho Co., Ltd.), and is worn 1000 times under the conditions of a load of 500 gf and a rotational speed of 60 rpm using a wear wheel CS-10 (Taber Co., Ltd.), and evaluation of wear resistance. The test was conducted. Wear loss, which is a change in mass of the sample before and after the wear resistance evaluation test, was measured, and the wear resistance of the charge transport layer was evaluated based on the wear loss. When the wear loss exceeded 7.0 mg, the wear resistance of the charge transport layer was insufficient, but when the wear loss was 7.0 mg or less, the wear resistance of the charge transport layer was good.
Table 2 shows the electrical property evaluation before the liquid life of the photoconductors A-1 to A-25 and the photoconductors B-1 to B-3, the electrical property evaluation after the liquid life, and the wear resistance evaluation of the charge transport layer. Results are shown.
In the electrophotographic photoreceptor according to the present invention, the residual potential before the liquid life is low in the electrical property evaluation, the half-exposure amount E 1/2 before and after the liquid life is low, and the wear loss is reduced in the wear resistance test. There were few. Therefore, it is clear that the electrophotographic photoreceptor according to the present invention is excellent in wear resistance while maintaining excellent electrical characteristics.
The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to the present invention can be suitably used for an image forming apparatus such as a multifunction peripheral.
