Description
「活性微粒子」は、流体又は流体成分に対し何らかの作用又は機能を実行するために特に好適な粒子又は顆粒を意味し、その作用又は機能とは、例えば汚染物質除去又は分子変更又は触媒作用である。
「空気」は、地球の大気を形成する気体の混合気を意味し、主に窒素及び酸素を含有するが、アルゴン、CO2、ネオン、及びヘリウムのような他の分子を少量含有する場合がある。
「清浄な空気」は、汚染物質を取り除くために濾過されたある体積の大気中の周囲空気を意味する。
「汚染物質」は、粒子(粉塵、ミスト及びフュームを含む)及び/又は一般には粒子とみなされない場合もあるが(例えば、有機蒸気等)、空気中に浮遊していることがある他の物質を意味する。
「波形」は、一連の頂上部分と谷部分とを有することを意味し、U形であってもV形であってもよい。
「からまった」は、別の媒体の隙間空間内に保持されていることを意味する。
「エアフィルタ」は、望ましくない成分を空気から除去して清浄な空気を人の呼吸のために提供する物品を意味する。
「並置される」は、互いに隣に置かれることを意味するが、必ずしも互いに直接接触して置かれなくてもよい。
「長手方向次元」は、開口部を(横断方向でなく)縦に通る方向を意味し、図1が示す次元「y」の方向である。
「モノリシックフィルタ」は、濾過される流体が通過し得る一連の概して平行な通路を含むフィルタを意味する。
「波形に対して平行」及び「通路に対して平行」は、波形又は通路の長手方向次元と同じ一般的方向であることを意味する。
「ポリッシングフィルタ」は、濾過される空気が蛇行通路を通って流れるように主フィルタより下流に位置づけられた濾過層を意味する。
「主フィルタ」は、濾過装置の性能において基本的役割を果たすフィルタを意味する。
NIOSHの試験方法RCT−APR−STP−0007と同様の試験方法を用いた。試験流量は42.4リットル/分(lpm)であった。フィルタは、アダプタを用いて装置に直接取り付け、ヘッドフォームには取り付けなかった。同等の装置を用いた。
濾過装置の有効寿命を決定するために、1000ppmのシクロヘキサンを10リットル/分及び50%相対湿度でそれらに与えた。5ppmのシクロヘキサンがフィルタから出るのを装置が可能にしたときの経過時間によって有効寿命を決定した。NIOSHの試験方法RCT−APR−STP−0046と同様の試験方法を用いた。同等の装置を用いた。
波形のモノリスフィルタ媒体を次の方法で作製した。
Claims (3)
- 呼吸器用エアフィルタであって、
(a)概して平行な通路であって活性微粒子を含む波形フィルタ層及び保持層によって画定された通路を含み、前記活性微粒子が前記波形フィルタ層の高分子繊維にからまっている、モノリシック主フィルタと、
(b)第1及び第2の主面を有し、活性微粒子も含有するポリッシングフィルタと、を含み、
前記モノリシック主フィルタは、前記モノリシック主フィルタ中の前記通路を当該通路に沿って空気が通過するように概ね配置され、
前記ポリッシングフィルタは、その中を空気が通るときに前記第1の主面から前記第2の主面へと前記空気が蛇行した通路を通って前記ポリッシングフィルタを移動するように概ね配置される、呼吸器用エアフィルタ。 - 呼吸器用エアフィルタの作製方法であって、
(a)入口と、出口と、前記入口から前記出口まで延びる概して平行な通路であって活性微粒子を含む波形フィルタ層及び保持層によって画定された通路と、を含み、前記活性微粒子が前記波形フィルタ層の高分子繊維にからまっている、モノリシック主フィルタを提供する工程と、
(b)第1及び第2の主面を有するポリッシングフィルタを前記モノリシック主フィルタの出口にて前記モノリシック主フィルタと並置する工程と、
を含み、
前記モノリシック主フィルタは、前記モノリシック主フィルタ中の前記通路を当該通路に沿って空気が通過するように概ね配置され、
前記ポリッシングフィルタは、その中を空気が通るときに前記第1の主面から前記第2の主面へと前記空気が蛇行した通路を通って前記ポリッシングフィルタを移動するように概ね配置される、方法。 - 前記ポリッシングフィルタが、前記モノリシック主フィルタを通る空気移動方向に対して直角に配置され、その中を通るとき空気は蛇行した経路を通って移動する、請求項2に記載の方法。
