Description
・980nmに向けて3段階の遷移を有するイッテルビウムタイプの光学的に励起されたイオンがドープされた、コア屈折率を有するコア
・上記コアを包囲しており、上記コアの屈折率よりも低い屈折率を有する内側クラッドであって、断面領域が上記コアの断面領域の2倍から8倍も大きい内側クラッド
・上記内側クラッドを包囲しており、上記内側クラッドの屈折率よりも低い屈折率を有する外側クラッド
この先行技術文献では、2から25までの間にあるコア/クラッドの表面比率、および、1.5:1よりも大きな非円形状での長軸/短軸の比率が記述されている。記述されている具体的な例では、ファイバにはイッテルビウムがドープされており、コア/クラッドの表面比率は2から8までの間にある。
−ポンピング波の放出に適している少なくとも1つのレーザダイオードと、
−2つの端部を有しており、コアおよびポンピングクラッドを含んでいる、レアアースエレメントがドープされているクラッド増幅光ファイバ部と、
−上記ドープされたファイバの上記クラッドにおいて上記ポンピング源を結合する手段と、を備えており、
・上記ドープされたファイバの上記コアは、クラッドの屈折率よりも高いコアの屈折率を得るために、イッテルビウム、ネオジム、ツリウムから選択されたレアアースエレメントがドープされた円筒形状部を含んでおり、
・上記レーザダイオードの励起波長は、750nmから960nmの間に有り、
・上記クラッドの直径は50ミクロンよりも大きく、上記ドープされたコアの上記ポンピングクラッドに対する表面比率は8から50の間に有る、ことを特徴とする光源に関する。
−上記ファイバは、外側クラッドおよび内側クラッドを含んでおり、上記外側クラッドの透過性物質の屈折率は、上記内側クラッドの透過性物質の屈折率よりも低く、
−上記ファイバの上記クラッドは、上記ポンピング波のガイドに適している0.3よりも高い開口数を有する導波路であり、上記導波路は、空洞を伴うリングによって形成されている。
−上記増幅器を構成しているドープされたファイバと、
−上記ドープされたファイバのスペクトル増幅バンド幅において放出するソースレーザと、
−上記ファイバの少なくとも1つの端部での、上記ドープされたファイバの上記ドープされたコアにおける上記ソースレーザの結合手段と、
−上記増幅ファイバのスペクトル吸収幅において放出するポンピング源と、
−上記ドープされたファイバの上記クラッドにおける上記ポンピング源の結合手段と、
を備えており、
上記増幅器は、所定の波長をフィルタリングするために、および、上記ファイバの通過後に吸収されていない上記ポンピング波を上記ファイバに再注入するために、注入手段との協動に適している選択的キャビティ内波長エレメントを備えている。
−上記増幅ファイバのスペクトル吸収幅において放出するポンピング源と、
−上記ドープされたファイバの上記クラッドにおける上記ポンピング源の結合手段と、
−上記増幅ファイバの2つの端部にて、上記ファイバの上記ドープされたコアから発せられるレーザビームの再注入に適している光学共振器と、
を更に備えている。
・空間的に単一モードであり、ファイバにおいて結合されている
・偏光している
・ファイバでの400mWに及ぶ出力
・0.1nmよりも小さなスペクトルバンド幅
このようなレーザの二重クラッドファイバにおける直接増幅によって、数百ワットよりも大きな出力が生じ得る。
・パルス継続時間
・各パルス放出の間に設けられた増幅自然放出(ASE)の影響
・パルスのスペクトル純度
続いて、これら十分に制御されたパルスは、増幅ファイバにおいて増幅され、初期のスペクトルの質、空間的な質、および、時間的な質を保持しながら、超高平均出力(5〜100W)に到達することが可能になる。
・最大平均出力:78W
・最大エネルギー:1mJ
・最大ピーク出力>100kW
非線形結晶のLBO結晶における488nmでの周波数倍増後、16.1Wの青色を放出するレーザ出力が、44Wの赤外線出力に対して得られたということが示された。なお、2006年以降の過去の記録によれば、青色にて83mWの放出が報告されている(A. Bouchier, G. Lucas-Leclin, P. Georges, and J. Maillard, "Frequency doubling of an efficient continuous wave single-mode Yb-doped fiber laser at 978 nm in a periodically-poled MgO:LiNbO3 waveguide," Opt. Express 13, 6974-6979 (2005))。
青色(488nm)における放出を得るための周波数倍増の効果は、976nmでの放射が完全に偏光されている場合に最大になる。この目的のために、増幅ファイバが放射の偏光保持を保証することが必要である。幾何学的な制限(低コア/クラッド表面比率)があるので、この性能をどのように生成するかを考慮することは妥当である。コア周辺の制限された空間に起因して、従来の偏光保持構造(PANDAファイバまたはボウタイ型)を使用することは不可能であろう。
・楕円形状コアファイバ。非円形状コアは、クラッドの大きさに制限を課さないという利点を伴う、本質的に複屈折であるという特性を有する。楕円形状コア(または任意の他の細長い形状)を規定するために、長軸と短軸との長さの比率を、少なくとも1.1:1に設定する。
・ファイバの引き上げの前に、プレフォームにおいて複数のエレメントを組み立てることによって製作されたファイバ(図7)。
傾斜ブラッググレーティングは、2つの偏光軸の1つにおいて伝播する間に損失を招き得る。これらのグレーティングは、一般のファイバを偏光保持ファイバに変換するために、そして、偏光保持ファイバを偏光ファイバに変換するために用いられ得る。これには、Ybドープされたファイバの全長に沿った複数のグレーティングの書き込みが含まれている。また、この装置は、フィルタの役割も担う。
ドープされたコアの周囲に「埋設型」クラッドを使用することは、基本モードの実効屈折率の幅広い変化を波長の関数として導入する。
ASEフィルタリングの役割を担うことのできる2つのタイプのブラッググレーティングが存在する。LPG(長周期グレーティング)およびTFBG(傾斜ファイバブラッググレーティング)である。
上述のフィルタリング方法は、ドープされたファイバの特定の構造、または、フォトライトされたフィルタの導入によるファイバの補正を必要とする。ドープされたファイバの補正を必要としない最後の実行可能なフィルタリング方法が利用可能である。
特定のファイバにおける976nmでの増幅の概念は、システムが、ポンプ増幅ファイバ、スペクトルフィルタリングシステム、および、976nmでの100%のミラー、ならびに、ポンプ除去システムから成るASE光源の構成にも適用され得る。この光源は、数nmのスペクトルバンド幅を有しており、偏光されておらず、空間的に単一モードである976nmでの連続放射を生成する。
・100/125μmおよびON=0.15であるN個の多重モードレーザダイオード10と、
・N対1の全ファイバポンピングカプラ20と、
・977nmにおいて最大反射率(100%)を伴う、増幅ファイバのドープされたコアにおいて光書き込みされたブラッググレーティングのネットワーク30と、
・イッテルビウムイオンがドープされたエアクラッドを伴う、20/80に微細構造化された二重クラッドファイバ40と、
・977nmにおいて10%の反射率を有する、増幅ファイバのドープされたコアにおいて光書き込みされたブラッググレーティング50と、
・角度が洗練された高出力SMAコネクタ60と、
を備えている本発明の光源を示している。
・角度が洗練された高出力SMAコネクタ100と、
・N個の多重モードレーザダイオード200(100/125μmおよびON=0.15)と、
・N個の多重モード入力、および、977nmにおける1個の単一モード信号出力を有する全ファイバポンプ結合器300と、
・イッテルビウムイオンがドープされたエアクラッドを伴う、20/80に微細構造化された二重クラッドのファイバ400と、
・クラッドモード抑制器500、および、20対6であることが好ましいモードアダプタと、
・977nmにおけるファイバアイソレータ600と、
・977nmにおける高スペクトル精度を有する単一モードのレーザダイオード700と、
を備えている、977nmにおける十分に一体化した高出力MOPAの構成における本発明の実施形態を示している。
Claims (15)
- 1030nmよりも短い波長での、制御された横方向の単一モードの放射を放出するファイバを有する光源であって、
ポンピング波の放出に適している少なくとも1つのレーザダイオードと、
2つの端部を有しており、コアおよびポンピングクラッドを含んでいる、レアアースエレメントがドープされているクラッド増幅光ファイバ部と、
上記ドープされたファイバの上記クラッドにおいてポンピング源を結合する手段と、
を備えており、
上記ドープされたファイバの上記コアは、クラッドの屈折率よりも高いコアの屈折率を得るために、イッテルビウム、ネオジム、ツリウムから選択されたレアアースエレメントがドープされた円筒形状部を含んでおり、
上記レーザダイオードの励起波長は、750nmから960nmの間に有り、
上記クラッドの直径は50ミクロンよりも大きく、上記ドープされたコアに対する上記ポンピングクラッドの表面比率は8から50の間に有る、
ことを特徴とする光源。 - 上記クラッドの断面は、1から1.4の間に有る長軸/短軸の比率を有している、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光源。 - 上記放出波長は、965nmから1010nmの間に有り、
上記ファイバは、イッテルビウムがドープされている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の光源。 - 上記放出波長は、880nmから960nmの間に有り、
上記ファイバは、ネオジムがドープされている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の光源。 - 上記ファイバは、外側クラッドおよび内側クラッドを含んでおり、
上記外側クラッドの透過性物質の屈折率は、上記内側クラッドの透過性物質の屈折率よりも低い、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から4の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記ファイバの上記クラッドは、上記ポンピング波のガイドに適している0.4よりも高い開口数を有する導波路であり、
上記導波路は、空洞がリング状に並ぶことによって形成されている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から4の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記光源は、増幅発振器の構造周辺に構築されたMOPA(マスタ発振器出力増幅器)の構成において作動しており、
上記増幅器を構成しているドープされたファイバと、
上記ドープされたファイバのスペクトル増幅バンド幅において放出するソースレーザと、
上記ファイバの少なくとも1つの端部での、上記ドープされたファイバの上記ドープされたコアにおける上記ソースレーザの結合手段と、
上記増幅ファイバのスペクトル吸収幅において放出するポンピング源と、
上記ドープされたファイバの上記クラッドにおける上記ポンピング源の結合手段と、
を備えており、
上記増幅器は、所定の波長をフィルタリングするために、および、上記ファイバの通過後に吸収されていない上記ポンピング波を上記ファイバに再注入するために、注入手段との協動に適している選択的キャビティ内波長エレメントを備えている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から6の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記装置は、上記結合手段は、N個のポンピングダイオードのファイバ出力への直接の接合に適しているN個の多重モード入力ファイバ、および、上記増幅ファイバへの直接の接合に適している出力ファイバを含んでいるカプラである、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から7の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記ドープされたファイバは、増幅ファイバを構成しており、
上記光源は、
上記増幅ファイバのスペクトル吸収幅において放出するポンピング源と、
上記ドープされたファイバの上記クラッドにおける上記ポンピング源の結合手段と、
上記増幅ファイバの2つの端部にて、上記ファイバの上記ドープされたコアから発せられるレーザビームの再注入に適している光学共振器と、
を更に備えている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から6の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記ドープされたファイバは、チューブ形状部によって包囲されているドープされたコアから成り、
上記チューブ形状部は、上記ドープされたコアおよび上記クラッドの屈折率よりも低い屈折率を有しており、
上記屈折率は、中心での最大屈折率から、上記クラッドにおける中間屈折率、上記チューブ形状部での最小屈折率へと放射状に変化する、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から9の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記ドープされたファイバは、偏光保持ファイバである、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から10の何れか1項に記載の光源。 - 上記ドープされたファイバは、第1のドーパント種がドープされている長軸方向のゾーンと第2のドーパント種がドープされている長軸方向のゾーンとを有するクラッドを含んでいる、
ことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の光源。 - 上記ドープされたファイバは、光書き込みされたブラッググレーティングであって、所望のスペクトル放出バンド幅の外側における放出をフィルタリングするように構成された透過スペクトルを伴うブラッググレーティングの少なくとも1つを有するコアを含んでいる、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から12に記載の光源。 - 上記ドープされたファイバは、透過スペクトルが上記所望のスペクトル放出幅の外側における上記放出をフィルタリングするように規定されている少なくとも1つのフィルタによって、または、光学アイソレータによって分離された少なくとも2つの部分に分割されている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1から13に記載の光源。 - 請求項12に記載の光源用のドープされたファイバを製作する方法であって、
レアアースエレメントがドープされた中央のエレメントが、ファイバコア、および、少なくとも6つの周辺エレメントを形成するためのプレフォームに組み立てられており、
上記少なくとも6つの周辺エレメントは、幾つかは第1のドーパントがドープされており、幾つかは第2のドーパントがドープされており、上記コアを包囲しており、上記ファイバクラッドを形成するためのものである、
ことを特徴とする方法。
