Description
(材料のスクリーニング)
以下の表2には、保護オーバーコート固体インクであると考えられる材料または材料混合物を列挙した。すべて市販されているか、または、XEROXで着色したインクとして現在用いられている。
溶融段階および濾過で混合することによって4種類のオーバーコートインクサンプル(異なるワックス候補物を用いた)を製造し、これを使用して印刷し、いくつかの印刷画像をコーティングした。得られたコーティング済印刷物を、通常の郵送プロセスを介し、市販の郵便局の取り扱い機で、異なる被覆面積をもつオーバーコート固体インクを用いて汚れおよび裏移りについて試験し、性能を判断し、数値を用い、着色した画像の汚れまたは裏移りの程度を表現した。ベースインクは、現行のXerox COLORQUBEインクであるが、染料を含まず、ワックスと樹脂(例えばアミド)とを含むインクであった。
ベタ画像を、市販のXerox Phaser(登録商標)8860プリンタを用いてXerox 4200紙の上に作成した。次いで、オーバーコートインクサンプルを、これらのベタ画像の上部に約40%の被覆面積になるように印刷した。得られたコーティング済印刷物についてCOFを試験した。表5に列挙した結果は、UNILIN 700およびPW655が、望ましい小さなCOFをもつことを示していた。以下の表のコントロールは、Xeroxの市販のPhaser(登録商標)8860プリンタおよびインクを用いて作成した画像である。
Claims (10)
- 保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像であって、
基材の上に配置されている、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像と;
前記インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像の少なくとも一部の上に配置された、透明または実質的に透明のオーバーコート組成物とを含み、
前記オーバーコート組成物が、
前記オーバーコート組成物の全重量に対し、70重量%〜99.98重量%の量の末端がヒドロキシルのポリエチレンワックスと;
安定化剤と;
任意要素の樹脂とを含む、保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。 - 前記末端がヒドロキシルのポリエチレンワックスが、120℃で3〜30cPsの粘度を有する、請求項1に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記任意要素の樹脂が、ウレタン、アミド、エステル、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選ばれる、請求項1または請求項2に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記安定化剤がヒンダード三級アミンである、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記安定化剤が4,4’−ビス(α,α−ジメチルベンジル)ジフェニルアミンである、請求項4に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記安定化剤が、前記オーバーコート組成物の全重量に対し、0.05重量%〜1.0重量%の量で存在する、請求項1〜請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記透明のオーバーコート組成物が、分散剤、酸化防止剤、粘度調整剤、すべり剤、および粘着剤からなる群より選ばれる添加剤を更に含む、請求項1〜請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記オーバーコート組成物が、固体インクである、請求項1〜請求項7のいずれか1項に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記固体インクの120℃の温度での粘度が5〜15cPsである、請求項8に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
- 前記オーバーコート組成物が、前記インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像上に前記インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像の面積に対して、10%〜100%の面積で付与される、請求項1〜請求項9のいずれか1項に記載の保護された、インクによる画像またはトナーによる画像。
