Description
ロナルドS.コックほかの「二次元ディスプレイのためのチップレット・ドライバ・ペア」と題され、2009年2月17日に出願された米国特許出願第12/372132号を参照する。その開示は、本願に組み込まれる。
本願発明には、ピクセル・グループの間に位置するチップレット列ドライバにより、2つ以上の別々のピクセル・グループに分けられた複数のピクセルを有する表示装置を提供することによって、パフォーマンスが向上し、コンポーネント数と接続数が減少するという利点がある。また、別々の行ドライバ・チップレットと列ドライバ・チップレットを有することによって、各々のチップレットは、各々のチップレットに対して利用できる最もコストが低い半導体製造プロセスで製造することができる。

Claims (3)
- a)表示領域を有する基板と、
b)行方向に延びる、前記表示領域において前記基板の上に形成される複数の行電極と、該行方向とは異なる列方向に延びる、前記表示領域において前記基板の上に形成される複数の列電極と、であって、前記行電極と列電極とは重なってピクセルを形成している、複数の行電極と複数の列電極と、
を備える表示装置であって、
c)前記ピクセルは、2つ以上の別々のピクセル・グループに分けられ、各々のピクセル・グループは、グループ行電極および別のグループ列電極を有しており、
d)2つ以上の間隔をあけた列ドライバ・チップレットが前記表示領域に位置し、各々の列ドライバ・チップレットは、異なるピクセル・グループにユニークに接続され、前記列ドライバ・チップレットの少なくとも1つは、2つの異なるピクセル・グループの各々の少なくとも1つのピクセルの間に位置し、前記2つ以上の間隔をあけた列ドライバ・チップレットは、前記1つのピクセル・グループの前記グループ列電極を駆動するのに適しており、e)一つ以上の行ドライバは前記行電極に接続しており、
f)前記行ドライバおよび前記列ドライバ・チップレット(chiplet)は、協働して、前記行電極および前記列電極を、それぞれ、前記ピクセルを起動させるように、駆動し、前記行ドライバは、一度に単一の行電極を選択するための回転シリアル・シフトレジスタを含む、表示装置。 - 前記行ドライバは、更に、単一行を使用可能にするリセット信号に応答するリセット回路と、単一行を次第にユニークに使用可能にする行選択信号を受信するシフト回路と、を含む、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記回転シリアル・シフトレジスタは、マルチ位相信号によりシフトするダブルバッファ・レジスタである、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
