Description
The present invention relates to a card handling apparatus that handles cards.
This type of card handling device is widely used in various modes for reading various information stored in the card. For example, if it is sufficient to simply read stored information, the card handling device is used alone. In addition, it is frequently used even when incorporated in various transactions based on card stored information, for example, an automatic cash transaction apparatus for performing cash deposit / withdrawal transactions.
Since the card storage information is generally secret, it is indispensable for the card transaction apparatus to deal with illegal information reading, so-called skimming. Information skimming is performed by attaching a skimming device that the card transaction device does not originally have to the card transaction device, and reading the information on the magnetic stripe, for example, when the card is inserted into the card insertion hole. . From such a viewpoint, various measures against skimming have been proposed (Patent Document 1 and the like).
Although these countermeasures can prevent skimming, since skimming is performed with an unauthorized intention, it is required to propose a variety of skimming countermeasures in order to remove the intention.
An object of the present invention is to propose a new coping method that can eliminate the intention of skimming based on the above-described problems.
In order to achieve at least part of the above object, the present invention employs the following configuration.
[Application 1: Card handling equipment]
A card handling device for handling cards,
A card guide for forming a card guide surface for guiding the insertion of the card into the card insertion hole and the discharging guide of the card from the card insertion hole on the front side of the device as viewed from the card insertion hole;
A first raised portion that protrudes above the card guide surface on the side facing the card insertion hole and restricts the operation range of the card along the card traveling direction toward the card insertion hole in the card guide surface; The gist is to prepare.
The card handling device having the above configuration has the following advantages.
For example, if the information is read by the skimming device, if the magnetic recording is performed by the magnetic stripe, the skimming device covers the entire area of the magnetic stripe of the card when the card is inserted and guided on the card guide surface toward the card insertion hole. Contact is required. In the case of IC chip recording, contact between the IC chip and the skimming device is required. For this reason, a person who intends to read information illegally by the skimming device (hereinafter referred to as a skimming agent) tries to install the skimming device in an area where the entire area of the magnetic stripe can be contacted.
By the way, normally, the card inserted into the card insertion hole is transported into the apparatus by a transport device in the apparatus, and then is ejected from the card insertion hole by the transport apparatus and stops at the card guide surface. Although the rest position is determined by the characteristics of the transport device, if the card guide surface is not flat in the area from the card insertion hole to the card front end at the rest position (insertion hole side area), ejection from the card insertion hole is hindered. For this reason, it becomes difficult to install a skimming device in the insertion hole side region, so that a skimming agent installs a skimming device in a region where contact can be made over the entire magnetic stripe while avoiding the insertion hole side region. There is a tendency to try. The same applies to the IC card.
The card handling equipment of the above configuration, since the limit in the card guide surface operating range of the card along the card moving direction toward the card insertion hole by the first raised portion, and ensure contact over the entire area of the magnetic stripe of the card The above-described area where the skimming device can be installed and the area where the skimming device can be installed after ensuring contact with the IC chip can also be restricted on the card guide surface. In addition, even if a skimming device is installed, the skimming device is installed on the card guide surface excluding the insertion hole side region described above or embedded in the card guide surface, and the installation position is also a magnetic stripe or It is limited to the place where the IC chip is formed. For this reason, since the skimming person is forced to install the skimming equipment in the restricted area in this way, it is possible to make the skimming person psychologically hesitant to install the skimming equipment. Further, if the user is warned about the area where the skimming device is restricted as described above, the user can easily determine whether the skimming device is installed. Naturally, it is easy to determine skimming equipment installation by apparatus maintenance personnel. In addition, even if a skimming device is installed on the card guide surface, the installed skimming device is visually recognized from the upper side of the card guide surface, making the user and apparatus maintenance personnel feel uncomfortable. From these points, according to the card handling equipment having the above configuration, it is possible to deter psychologically skimming device placed against skimming actors.
Card handling equipment mentioned above may be the following aspect. For example, it is possible to provide a second raised portion raised above the card draft surface so as to face each other across the card guide surface, and the second raised portion and the first raised portion surround the card guide surface in three directions. . Card handling equipment of this embodiment, first, the second raised portion, the card placed on the card guide surface above the card guide surface by opening the upper side of the card guide surface surrounding the card guide surface at its three sides Restrict to the side. In addition, the operation range of the card is also limited in the direction intersecting with the card traveling direction toward the card insertion hole by the second raised portions facing each other across the card guide surface. For this reason, the installable area of the skimming device can be more strictly limited, so that it becomes easier for the user who has been alerted to determine the installation of the skimming device, and the effectiveness of making the installation of the skimming device psychologically increases.
And the said 1st, 2nd protruding part can be united with the said card guide, and if it carries out like this, the manufacture will become simple.
The second raised portion may have a notch reaching the card guide surface from the upper end of the raised portion. In this way, the user can insert a finger holding the card into the notch and place the card on the card guide surface from above, or can hold the card from the guide surface and lift it. Therefore, the card handling by the user can be simplified.
Further, the size of the card guide surface from the card insertion hole to the inner wall surface of the first raised portion is set to 1.05 to 1 of the size of the card along the card traveling direction toward the card insertion hole. Can be doubled. In this way, when the card is placed on the card guide surface and the card is inserted into the card insertion hole, the area where information can be read, that is, the area where the skimming device can be installed is surely narrowed. Thus, it is possible to increase the effectiveness of psychologically disposing skimming equipment. Since the above-mentioned card dimension is approximately 86 mm, the above-mentioned dimension of the guide surface is about 4.3 mm to 17.6 mm longer than this card dimension.
Further, the state of the bulge from the card guide surface of the first bulge can be as follows. First, when a card-like plate is disposed on the top of the first raised portion from the card front end position on the card guide surface of the card discharged and conveyed from the card insertion hole and stationary, the plate is the card. the angle θ1 formed between the guide surface, the
As a skimming device that can be mounted on the card guide having the first raised portion raised from the card guide surface, a skimming device having an information reading unit on an inclined surface inclined toward the card insertion hole can be assumed. The device is mounted on the card guide surface. In this case, if the skimming device positions the lower end of the inclined surface in the previously described insertion hole side region on the card insertion hole side, card ejection from the card insertion hole to the stationary position is hindered. Is easily discriminated. For this reason, the skimming device having the inclined surface is mounted on the card guide surface so that the lower end of the inclined surface coincides with the card front end position which has been discharged and conveyed, or is closer to the first raised portion than the position. It will be. The angle formed by the inclined surface of the skimming device thus mounted corresponds to the angle formed by the plate described above and the card guide surface. If the angle θ1 is larger than the angle θ2 formed when the card is tilted so that the front end of the card is separated from the card guide surface, the card is inserted into the card insertion hole from the inclined surface of the skimming device. Since the rear end of the card rides on an inclined surface and the front end of the card is a card guide surface, the card is inserted into the card insertion hole, and the user can feel uncomfortable. Further, since the card is separated from the inclined surface, skimming over the entire length of the magnetic stripe becomes difficult. As a result, it is possible to increase the effectiveness of psychologically disabling skimming equipment installation.
The length of the line segment connecting the card tip position of the stationary card and the top of the first raised portion is parallel to the raised portion of the first raised portion after the angle is defined in this way. The first raised portion can be raised from the card guide surface so as to be shorter than the length of the card. In this way, the inclined surface of the skimming device described above is shorter than the card length, so that even if an information reading unit is provided on this inclined surface, skimming over the entire length of the magnetic stripe cannot be performed. And if this inclined surface is extended, since an inclined surface will get over a 1st protruding part, a discomfort can be given to a user and an apparatus maintenance person.
In addition, when at least one of the card guide and the first raised portion is damaged, a first sensor that emits a sensor output different from that when there is no damage can be provided. This has the following advantages.
In the card handling device of the above configuration and each aspect, as described above, the card operating surface along the card traveling direction toward the card insertion hole is limited on the card guide surface by the first protruding portion. If there is no part, the installation of skimming equipment is concerned, and the card guide is concerned about the installation of the skimming equipment on the card guide surface itself. Therefore, if an attempt is made to install a skimming device, the skimming agent installs the skimming device by damaging the first protuberance, and then attempts to restore the device imitating the first protuberance. Alternatively, after the skimming device is embedded in the card guide surface, the guide surface is repaired. In any of these cases, the card guide or the first raised portion is temporarily damaged. Therefore, according to the above aspect, it is possible to detect the presence or absence of damage related to the skimming device installation by the first sensor. For this reason, various measures such as abnormality notification can be taken by the sensor output.
In this case, the first sensor is a light transmission type sensor, and the light transmission path in the light transmission type sensor is assumed to be damaged at at least one of the card guide or the first raised portion. And the formed transmission path can be covered with a light shielding material. In this way, since the introduction of external light into the transmission path can be suppressed, it is possible to improve the detection sensitivity for the presence or absence of damage related to the installation of the skimming device. And if the said permeation | transmission path | route is used as the translucent material embed | buried under the said card guide or the said 1st protruding part so that it may pass through the said damage expected location, detection sensitivity can be improved more.
And a second sensor that emits a sensor output different from that when the card guide surface is damaged when the card guide surface is damaged at a position that matches the magnetic stripe of the card placed on the card guide surface. You can By so doing, it is possible to easily detect the presence or absence of damage related to the embedding of skimming equipment on the card guide surface. The second sensor is also formed as a light transmission type sensor, and a light transmission path in the light transmission type sensor is formed below the card guide surface along the magnetic stripe. The transmitted path can be covered with a light shielding material. In this way, since the introduction of external light into the transmission path can be suppressed, it is possible to improve the detection sensitivity of the presence or absence of damage related to the embedding of the skimming device on the card guide surface. And if the said permeation | transmission path | route is made into the translucent material embed | buried under the said card | curd guide surface, detection sensitivity can be improved more.
And a third sensor for detecting a movement state of the card (hereinafter referred to as a card movement state) when being guided by the card guide surface and inserted into the card insertion hole. If the detected card movement situation is different from a predetermined card movement situation, a sensor output different from that in the predetermined card movement situation can be generated. In this way, since it is possible to detect the possibility that a skimming device that does not change the card movement status to the predetermined card movement status is installed on the card guide surface, various measures such as abnormality notification can be taken by the sensor output.
Further, a fourth sensor for detecting an opening state of the card insertion hole is provided, and the fourth sensor is different from the predetermined opening state when the detected opening state is different from a predetermined opening state. A sensor output can be emitted. By doing this, it is possible to detect the possibility that a skimming device is installed in the card insertion hole so that the opening state of the card insertion hole does not become a predetermined opening state, so various measures such as abnormality notification can be taken by the sensor output .
In addition, the card guidance system includes a fifth sensor installed on the second protruding portion opposed to the second sensor and an output processing unit that receives and processes the sensor output of the fifth sensor. In the upper position of the card that does not interfere with the card placed on the surface, the card guide surface detects the presence or absence of a foreign substance other than the card, and the output processing unit outputs the fifth sensor with a steady card handling. If it is different from the sensor output status at that time, an output indicating the possibility that the foreign object has already been installed on the card guide surface can be generated. This has the following advantages.
In a non-handling situation where no card is placed on the card guide surface, the fifth sensor normally does not detect anything, so the output processing unit receives a steady sensor output without detection. In addition, in a transaction situation where a card is placed on the card guide surface and the card is handled, the user's finger may be placed on the card guide surface as the card is placed. It may be detected as a foreign object by the fifth sensor. However, since the user's finger is removed along with the completion of the card insertion into the card insertion hole or the completion of the card transaction itself, the detection of the finger (foreign matter) by the fifth sensor becomes temporary and then disappears. The output status of the fifth sensor, that is, the steady sensor output without detection in the non-transaction situation described above, and the temporary detection output and subsequent disappearance are the sensor output status at the time of steady card handling. I can imitate.
However, if a skimming device is mounted on the card guide surface, the fifth sensor continuously outputs a sensor output with detection regardless of whether it is in a non-transaction situation or a transaction situation. For this reason, the output processing unit receives the sensor output with continuous detection and issues an output indicating that a foreign object such as a skimming device is already installed on the card guide surface. Various measures such as notification can be taken.
In this case, the fifth sensor can be a light transmission type sensor that forms a light transmission path at a position above the card between the opposing second raised portions. In addition, the opposing second raised portion is provided with a wall surface portion that allows light transmission perpendicular to the light transmission path on the inner wall on the card guide surface side, and the wall surface portion is disposed on the card. It can be made to oppose on both sides of a guide surface. In this way, a light transmission path can be secured, and a decrease in detection sensitivity can be suppressed. Moreover, since the wall surface part has an appearance different from the inner wall of the other part of the second raised portion, the skimming person can recognize that the foreign object has been detected. Can increase the sex.
And in the said 2nd protruding part which opposes, the said wall surface part which pinches | interposes the said card | curd guide surface is provided with two or more pairs, and it has the said 5th sensor of the said light transmission type sensor about at least a pair of said wall part. it can. In this way, the skimming agent can recognize that foreign object detection is performed at a plurality of locations, so that the effectiveness of psychologically reluctant to install the skimming device can be further enhanced.
In addition, a load applied to a card transport unit that performs an insertion transport for transporting the card inserted into the card insertion hole into the apparatus and a discharge transport for discharging the card from the card insertion hole and making the card stationary on the card guide surface. And a sensor output different from that in the case of the normal discharge conveyance when the detected load increases compared to the load in the normal discharge conveyance. Can be. This has the following advantages.
As described above, when the card is inserted and conveyed and then discharged and conveyed, if the card guide surface is not flat in the insertion hole side region, the card insertion hole is prevented from being discharged. For this reason, according to the above aspect, skimming equipment is installed on the card guide surface so that the card insertion surface is not obstructed through an increase in the detection load of the sixth sensor, and the card guide surface is not flat. Therefore, various countermeasures such as abnormality notification can be taken by the sensor output.
Further, the second raised portion may be covered with an opening through which a user's hand holding the card enters the first raised portion. In this way, the work area intended to install the skimming device on the card guide surface can be restricted, so that it becomes difficult to install the skimming device, and it is possible to psychologically make the skimming agent hesitant to install the skimming device.
Furthermore, the present invention can be realized in various forms, for example, it can be applied and an automatic teller machine having a card handling equipment mentioned above, as can be installed the card handling equipment retrofit so-called automatic cash transaction apparatus.

The statement
Next, the
As shown in the figure, the
The
The
Further, the
Next, the relationship between the
As shown in the figure, the
First, as shown in FIG. 7, the user holds the card K held by the finger straight from almost right above the
When the card is thus inserted, the
The
As shown in the figure, the card K is discharged and conveyed from the
In addition, the
Even if a skimming device is installed in the above-described installable area SK of the
FIG. 10 is an explanatory diagram showing how information is avoided when the skimming device SM is installed. As shown in FIG. 10, the skimming device SM that can be mounted on the
In the
As shown in FIG. 10, the angle formed by the inclined surface of the skimming device SM mounted in the
By the way, if the inclined surface of the skimming device SM shown in FIG. 10 is made longer than the entire length of the card, information can be read by the information reading unit SS on the upper end side of the inclined surface, but the inclined surface in this case is the first raised
As described above, according to the
As shown in FIG. 11, the
As shown in FIGS. 11 to 12, the first ridge top
As shown in FIG. 11 and FIGS. 14 to 15, the first ridge penetration
Each of the detection sensors described above transmits the sensor output to the
When skimming of the magnetic information of the card K is intended, it is assumed that the skimming device is embedded below the
As described with reference to FIG. 10, it is difficult to read information over the entire length of the magnetic stripe of the card K just by fitting the skimming device SM having the information reading unit SS on the inclined surface into the
In addition, it is also assumed that an opening connected to the
Further, in the
FIG. 16 is an explanatory view of the
As shown in the figure, the
As described above with reference to FIG. 7, the card K is first placed on the
Even if the
The
Next, sensing in the
Next, sensing of foreign object mounting on the
As shown in the figure, the
As shown in FIG. The
In the
In a non-handling situation in which no card is placed on the
However, if the skimming device SM as described with reference to FIG. 10 is installed in the
In the
In addition, since a plurality of
In the
Next, sensing of the conveyance status of the card K will be described. As shown in FIG. 17, the
Next, restrictions on access to the
As mentioned above, although the embodiment of the present invention has been described in the embodiments, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments and modifications, and can be implemented in various modes without departing from the gist thereof. Is possible. For example, in the above embodiment, the
In the above-described embodiment, the detection sensor such as the guide surface
Further, the
