また、張り材26の下部両側部が、背フレーム22の前面側に回り込むのが防止または抑制されるので、張り材26の前面部28aの下部、すなわち、座者の腰部付近を支持する部分のテンションが確保され、過度に後方に撓むことがなくなる。これにより、ランバーサポート効果が発揮され、座者の腰部が快適に支持されるので、座り心地が向上する。
なお、図8及び図9に示す実施形態においては、側部フレーム18に取付けた低摩擦部材29と高摩擦部材30に対し、張り材26の両側部が摺動することにより、張り材26と側部フレーム18との摺動抵抗が、小または大となり、上記と同様の作用効果が得られる。

上下方向を向く左右1対の側部フレームを有する背フレームに、袋状の張り材を被嵌して張設してなる椅子の背凭れにおいて、
前記張り材における座者の腰部付近を支持する下部側の両側部内面と、その部分に接触する前記左右の側部フレームの外側面との少なくともいずれか一方に、張り材と側部フレームとの接触部の摺動抵抗を大としうる高摩擦部材を設け、かつこの高摩擦部材の一側端部を、前記張り材を袋状に形成するべく、その両側端部を内方に折り重ねて縫着した縫着部に、この縫着部を覆うようにして固定したことを特徴とする椅子の背凭れ。
