Description
本出願は、2008年2月20日に出願された米国特許仮出願第61/029,931号の非暫定出願である。
本発明は、エネルギー印加された生物医学的装置の製造、より具体的には、いくつかの実施形態において、エネルギー印加された眼科用レンズの製造のための方法及び装置を説明する。
本明細書で使用するとき、「エネルギー受容体」は、例えば、電波伝達を介するエネルギー等の無線エネルギーを受容するアンテナとして機能する媒体を指す。
図1を参照すると、眼科用レンズ用の例示的鋳型100の図は、エネルギー受容部分109とともに図示される。本明細書で使用されるとき、鋳型という用語は、レンズ形成用混合物の反応又は硬化の際に所望の形状の眼科用レンズが製造されるように、レンズ形成混合物110を分配することができる、空洞105を有するフォーム100を含む。本発明の鋳型及び鋳型組立品100は、複数の「鋳型部分」又は「鋳型片」101〜102から構成される。鋳型部分101〜102を組み合わせて、空洞105を鋳型部分101〜102間に形成し、その中にレンズを形成することができるようにすることができる。このような鋳型部分101〜102の組み合わせは、一時的であることが好ましい。レンズが形成されたら、レンズを取り出すために鋳型部分101〜102を再び分離することができる。
図2を参照すると、眼科用レンズ201は、エネルギー受容体109及び処理装置203とともに図示される。図示するように、エネルギー受容体109は、例えば、金属材料等の導電性材料を含むことができる。好適な金属材料には、例えば、金、銀、及び銅を含むことができる。また、導電性炭素繊維等の導電性繊維も好適である。
R1は、独立して、一価反応基、一価アルキル基、又は一価アリール基から選択され、前述のいずれかは、ヒドロキシ、アミノ、オキサ、カルボキシ、アルキルカルボキシ、アルコキシ、アミド、カルバメート、カーボネート、ハロゲン、又はこれらの組み合わせから選択される官能性を更に含み得、1−100 Si−Oの反復単位を含む一価シロキサン鎖は、アルキル、ヒドロキシ、アミノ、オキサ、カルボキシ、アルキルカルボキシ、アルコキシ、アミド、カルバメート、ハロゲン、又はこれらの組み合わせから選択される官能性を更に含むこともあり、

以下の方法の工程は、本発明のいくつかの態様により実施してもよいプロセスの例として与えられる。本方法の工程が示される順番は限定を意図するものではなく、他の順番を使用して本発明を実施し得ることを理解されるべきである。加えて、本発明を実施するためにすべての工程を必要とするわけではなく、また本発明の種々の実施形態には付加的な工程を含んでもよい。
CH3(CH2)x−L−COCHR=CH2
(式中、Lは、−NH又は酸素であり得、xは、2〜24の範囲の整数であってもよく、Rは、C1〜C6アルキル又は水素であってもよく、好ましくは、メチル又は水素である)のアミド及びエステルを含むがこれらに限定されない、疎水変性モノマーからなり得る。そのようなアミド及びエステルの例は、ラウリルメタクリルアミド及びヘキシルメタクリレート樹脂を含むが、これらに限定されない。更に別の実施例として、カルバメート及び尿素を拡大する脂肪族ポリマーを使用して、結合ポリマーを形成し得る。
図6を参照すると、本発明のいくつかの実施形態で使用し得るコントローラ600を図示する。コントローラ603は、通信装置620に結合する、1つ以上のプロセッサ・コンポーネントを含み得るプロセッサ610を含む。いくつかの実施形態では、コントローラ600を使用して、眼科用レンズ内に定置されるエネルギー受容体にエネルギーを送信することができる。
一連の実験を、AA電池駆動RFIDリーダ/アンテナ(しばしば、「リーダ」と言う)を使用して実行した。それぞれの試験では、111mm2の作業表面積を有するRFIDチップをある条件で定置し、その条件にある間、データをRFIDチップ間で送達した。
ソフトコンタクト・レンズを生理食塩水溶液に浸漬した。RFIDチップ(タグシス・スモール・タグ(Tagsys Small Tags))を13.6mm×13.9mmであるタグ総面積とともに使用した。アンテナ及びすべての統合された回路を含む、タグの全体の作業領域は、90mm2であると測定する。これは、我々のコンタクト・レンズが提供する領域よりも有意に少ない領域である。タグシス・スモール・タグは、柔軟であり、瞳孔用に確保した、我々のコンタクト・レンズの領域と類似する、その中心に閉塞していない領域を有する。
結果:リーダは、40mmの範囲でタグを一貫して得ることが可能

結果:リーダは、40mmの範囲でタグを一貫して得ることが可能
タグの上部に定置し、RFIDチップを完全に被覆するために十分な生理食塩水で覆われた1mmの1枚のポリスチレン表面張力は、液滴のクラウンで最大2mmの生理食塩水被覆の厚さを得、これは、健康なヒトの目の涙の被覆よりも更に厚い。
結果:リーダは、40mmの範囲でタグを一貫して得ることが可能であった。
ソフトコンタクト・レンズ定置、生理食塩水で浸漬、RFIDチップ上に直接、コンタクト・レンズでアンテナを被覆。リーダにおける結果は、32mmの範囲で情報を一貫して得ることが可能。これは、約20%の性能低下を示す。
結果:リーダは、40mmの範囲でタグを一貫して得ることが可能。
結果:リーダは、40mmの範囲でタグを一貫して得ることが可能。
結果:リーダは、反対側の手に定置されたときに、(つまり「手を通して」)タグを一貫して得ることが可能。
我々のコンタクト・レンズ設計以下の作業領域を有するRFIDチップは、小型電池駆動リーダ/アンテナを使用して、一貫して読み込むことができる。読み込みは、RFIDチップが生理食塩水に完全に浸漬しており、コンタクト・レンズの全層によって被覆されていたときでさえ、一貫していた。
上記の説明、及び以下の請求項によって更に定義されるとおり、本発明は、眼科用レンズを処理する方法、及びそのような方法を実行するための装置、並びにそれによって形成される眼科用レンズを提供する。
(1) 眼科用レンズを形成する方法において、
第1の鋳型部分及び第2の鋳型部分のうちの片方の上に、電波を介してエネルギーを受容することが可能なエネルギー受容体を沈着させる工程と、
前記第1の鋳型部分及び前記第2の鋳型部分のうちの片方に、反応性モノマー混合物を沈着させる工程と、
前記第1の鋳型部分を前記第2の鋳型部分に近接して位置決めして、それによって、レンズ空洞を形成する工程であって、前記レンズ空洞内に前記エネルギー受容体及び反応性モノマー混合物の少なくともいくらかを有する、工程と、
前記反応性モノマー混合物を化学線に暴露させる工程と、を含む、方法。
(2) バインダー層を前記第1の鋳型部分及び前記第2の鋳型部分のうちの片方の上に沈積させる工程と、
前記エネルギー受容体を前記バインダー層の上に定置する工程と、を更に含む、実施態様1に記載の方法。
(3) 前記エネルギー受容体が、金属ワイヤを含む、実施態様1に記載の方法。
(4) 前記ワイヤは、前記眼科用レンズが目に定置されたときに、視界の外側の前記眼科用レンズの周縁に近接して位置決めされる、実施態様3に記載の方法。
(5) 前記エネルギー受容体は、導電性繊維を含む、実施態様1に記載の方法。
(7) 前記導電性繊維が、ナノ構造を含む、実施態様4に記載の方法。
(8) 前記バインダー層が、顔料を含む、実施態様2に記載の方法。
(9) 前記バインダー層が、プレポリマーを含む、実施態様2に記載の方法。
(10) 前記バインダー層が、反応性モノマー混合物を含む、実施態様2に記載の方法。
Claims (9)
- 眼科用レンズを形成する方法において、
第1の鋳型部分及び第2の鋳型部分のうちの片方の上に、電波を介してエネルギーを受容することが可能なエネルギー受容体を沈着させる工程と、
バインダー層を前記第1の鋳型部分及び前記第2の鋳型部分のうちの片方の上に沈積させる工程と、
前記エネルギー受容体を前記バインダー層の上に定置する工程と、
前記第1の鋳型部分及び前記第2の鋳型部分のうちの片方に、反応性モノマー混合物を沈着させる工程と、
前記第1の鋳型部分を前記第2の鋳型部分に近接して位置決めして、それによって、レンズ空洞を形成する工程であって、前記レンズ空洞内に前記エネルギー受容体及び反応性モノマー混合物の少なくともいくらかを有する、工程と、
前記反応性モノマー混合物を化学線に暴露させる工程と、を含む、方法。 - 前記エネルギー受容体が、金属ワイヤを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ワイヤは、前記眼科用レンズが目に定置されたときに、視界の外側の前記眼科用レンズの周縁に近接して位置決めされる、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記エネルギー受容体は、導電性繊維を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記導電性繊維が、カーボンナノチューブを含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記導電性繊維が、ナノ構造を含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記バインダー層が、顔料を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記バインダー層が、プレポリマーを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
