Abstract
【解決手段】杉材の辺材部から板目挽きで厚み5〜6ミリメートルに製材した荒材の板を主要面として、無垢材の特性を考慮して構成した、好気性微生物による木製の生ごみ処理容器。容器に基材と生ごみを投入し堆肥化される過程において、木材の主成分のセルロースの水酸基による吸水性と調湿性が、水分調整を行い、生ごみの分解に伴う化学反応熱を、含気率の高い杉材の保温力により微生物に作用を及ぼす。液汁に富んだ辺材部から板材を製材している事、板目挽きで早材面を多く露出させ気体や液体の透過性を高めている事、リグニンの紫外線吸収効果が微生物活動のエネルギー源となる事等、様々な無垢材の特性と微生物の活性化とが作用し合い、効率よく生ごみを処理出来る。

また、柾目挽きの板材で構成させた容器は、速度的にはかなりゆっくりだが分解、発酵をするのに対し、鉋等で表面を平らにした板材で構成させた容器は、全く分解、発酵が進まず、生ごみの腐敗臭が日増しに強くなる、という結果となった。
しかし、この木製容器に投入さえしてしまえば、問題となるような悪臭も虫の増殖も防ぐ事が可能になる。ダニ等の懸念から屋外に設置する場合も、雨風を凌げる構造となっており、天候もしくは外気温との関連性はあるものの、直接的に左右されることなく、効率的に堆肥化が行われる。
微生物にとっても天然素材の木製容器内は調湿効果によって快適な空間となり、理想的な分解、発酵を行ってくれる。
農学分野から引用すると、数ある微生物の中に発酵微生物と腐敗微生物が存在しており、二者の違いが、人間から見て合目的的に分解をおこすか、人間にとって不本意な分解をおこすかの違いであるとするならば、たとえ腐敗微生物であっても、本発明の木製生ごみ処理容器になるべく早く投入する事で、発酵微生物に一変すると言うことになる。

Claims (1)
- 無垢材の特性を考慮した構造の木製容器で、主要面を構成する材は、針葉樹である杉材の、心材部ではなく辺材部を、柾目挽きではなく板目挽きで、かつ板材の厚み5〜6ミリメートルで製材した荒材を用いた、好気性微生物による木製生ごみ処理容器。
