Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. The present invention is not limited to the best mode for carrying out the invention (hereinafter referred to as an embodiment). In addition, constituent elements in the following embodiments include those that can be easily assumed by those skilled in the art or those that are substantially the same.
The radioactive waste to be evaluated in the present embodiment is a radioactive waste containing TRU nuclides generated at a spent nuclear fuel reprocessing facility used at a nuclear power plant. Here, TRU (transuranic) is a general term for artificial radionuclides having an atomic number larger than that of uranium (U: atomic number 92), and specifically includes neptunium (Np), plutonium (Pu), americium (Am). ), Curium (Cm) and the like. Hereinafter, these nuclides are referred to as “TRU nuclides”, and radioactive waste containing TRU nuclides is referred to as “TRU waste”.
Specifically, the TRU waste to be evaluated in this embodiment is a dried or pelletized concentrated waste liquid such as nitric acid-based waste liquid generated at a reprocessing facility, which is stored in a drum can or a rectangular container, and mortar is stored. Filled ones, two end portions (end pieces) of a recycled fuel assembly removed by a shearing machine, and a covering piece (hull) of fuel that remains undissolved in a dissolution tank are compressed and stored in a canister. Depending on the radioactivity concentration of the radionuclide contained in these TRU wastes, either shallow concrete pit disposal, marginal depth disposal (50m to 100m underground), or geological disposal (300m or deep underground) It is stipulated by law to bury it. Therefore, when disposing of TRU waste, the radionuclide radioactivity concentration in TRU waste is accurately evaluated to confirm that the radioactivity concentration of TRU waste does not exceed the acceptance standards of the disposal site. There is a need.
Among the TRU nuclides contained in TRU wastes, those for which radioactivity concentration is to be evaluated are U-232, U-233, U-234, U-235, U-236, U-238, Np-237, Pu -238, Pu-239, Pu-240, Pu-241, Am-241, Am-242m, Am-243, Cm-244 and the like. Here, the number of each radionuclide indicates the mass number.
As a method of evaluating the radioactivity concentration of radionuclides in TRU waste as described above, non-destructive external measurement method is used as well as the radioactivity concentration evaluation of radioactive waste generated from nuclear power plants. The radioactivity concentration of radionuclides that can be measured externally is calculated, and for other nuclides that are difficult to measure nondestructively (difficult nuclides), the radionuclide calculated by the nondestructive external measurement method is used as the key nuclide, and the scaling factor method It is conceivable to evaluate the radioactivity concentration using Here, the scaling factor method is a statistical process of radiochemical analysis of a large number of samples carried out in advance, and the concentration of difficult-to-measure nuclides is determined from the correlation with non-destructive externally detectable radionuclides (key nuclides) It is a method of determination.
Next, the inventors of the present invention are Np-237, Pu-238 / 239/240/241 (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Pu nuclide”), Am-241, which are evaluation nuclides other than Cm-244. / 242m / 243 (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Am nuclide”), U-232 / 233/234/235/236/238 (hereinafter collectively referred to as “U nuclide”), The correlation with Cm-244 which is a key nuclide was evaluated, and it was examined whether the radioactivity concentration of each TRU nuclide could be evaluated from the correlation. Examples of correlation diagrams are shown in FIGS. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, and 1-4.
When the correlation was evaluated, as shown in FIGS. 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3, in a region where the concentration of Cm-244 is a certain level or higher, Cm-244 is Np-237, Pu nuclide, The result that there was a linear correlation with Am nuclide was obtained. From this determination result, for Np-237, Pu nuclides, and Am nuclides, the radioactivity concentration can be accurately evaluated by the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide in the region where the Cm-244 concentration is above a certain level. The knowledge that it was possible was obtained.
Furthermore, in this embodiment, in order to accurately evaluate the radioactivity concentrations of Np-237, Pu nuclide, and Am nuclide in all Cm-244 concentration regions, the radioactivity of the evaluation target nuclide obtained from the above correlation is used. The concentration is corrected in accordance with the burnup of the spent nuclear fuel that is the source of TRU waste (hereinafter referred to as “TRU waste burnup”). This will be described in detail later.
As shown in Fig. 1-4, the U nuclide has a weak correlation with Cm-244, but the concentration variation range of the U nuclide is as narrow as one digit, so the scaling factor method is not applied. The concentration is determined by applying an average concentration method.
From the above examination results, the present inventors can evaluate the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 among the radionuclides contained in TRU waste by using a nondestructive external measurement method, Np-237, It was found that the radioactivity concentrations of Pu and Am nuclides can be evaluated by the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide.
Next, in order to accurately evaluate the radioactivity concentration of Np-237, Pu nuclide and Am nuclide in all Cm-244 concentration regions, Np-237 obtained by the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide, A method for correcting the radioactive concentration of Pu nuclide and Am nuclide will be described in detail. The spent nuclear fuel reprocessing facility processes spent nuclear fuel in various burnups, initial enrichments, and cooling periods. Therefore, the present inventors pay attention to the burnup of TRU waste generated by reprocessing spent nuclear fuel, and the burnup of this TRU waste is related to the correlation between Pu nuclide and Cm-244. The effect was examined. Here, the “burning degree” indicates energy per unit weight generated by the reaction with neutrons before the nuclear fuel loaded in the reactor core is taken out from the reactor in the operation of the reactor.
FIG. 2 is a graph showing the relationship between the burnup of the spent nuclear fuel and the nuclide composition ratio of each Pu nuclide (Pu-238 / 239/240/241) and Cm-244 contained in the spent nuclear fuel. As shown in FIG. 2, the nuclide composition ratio of each Pu nuclide and Cm-244 has a good correlation with the burnup. In addition, although there exists the same correlation also between the nuclide composition ratio of Np-237, Am nuclide and Cm-244, and a burnup, it abbreviate | omits here.
In other words, the correlation between Np-237, Pu nuclide, Am nuclide and Cm-244 in TRU waste is affected by the burnup, and when the correlation diagram between Pu nuclide and Cm-244 is divided by burnup, FIG. As shown, for example, data with burnup B 1 is on the correlation line L 1 and data with burnup B 2 different from B 1 is on the correlation line L 2. This means that a different correlation line can be drawn for each burnup of an object. As a result, the correlation between Np-237, Pu nuclides, Am nuclides and Cm-244 in TRU waste is affected by the burnup, and Np-237, Pu nuclides calculated by the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide. The present inventors have found that the radioactivity concentration can be accurately evaluated in all Cm-244 concentration regions by correcting the radioactivity concentration of Am nuclides according to the burnup.
On the other hand, as a result of investigating the composition calculation of the spent nuclear fuel, the present inventors have found that the ratio Cm-244 / Cs-137 between the Cm-244 concentration and the Cs-137 concentration is as follows: Good correlation was seen. From this relationship, it was found that if Cm-244 / Cs-137 is obtained, the burnup degree of TRU waste can be obtained from this ratio.
Further, the relationship between the ratio of the Cm-244 concentration and the Cs-137 concentration and the burnup is less influenced by the initial enrichment, and the combustion is determined from the ratio of the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 and the radioactivity concentration of Cs-137. It is not necessary to consider the initial enrichment when determining the degree.
From the above, the burnup degree of TRU waste can be obtained from the ratio of the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 and the radioactivity concentration of Cs-137. Then, by correcting the radioactivity concentration of Np-237, Pu nuclide and Am nuclide calculated by the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide according to the burnup of TRU waste, all Cm-244 The radioactivity concentration can be accurately evaluated in the concentration region.
Next, an example of calculation processing for correcting the radioactivity concentrations of Np-237, Pu nuclides, and Am nuclides calculated by the scaling factor method according to the burnup will be described. Here, the radioactive concentration of Np-237 is corrected. First, a correlation straight line L 0 serving as a reference is obtained from a plurality of data without considering the burnup. Then, after obtaining the radioactivity concentration C of Cm-244 by using a non-destructive external measurement method, a scaling factor method, the correlation straight line L 0 as a reference, as shown in FIG. 5 of Pu nuclides uncorrected Determine the radioactivity concentration. Subsequently, the ratio (Cm-244 / Cs-137) of the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 and the radioactivity concentration of Cs-137 calculated | required using the nondestructive external measuring method was calculated, and Cm- shown in FIG. From the relationship between 244 / Cs-137 and burnup, the burnup of TRU waste is determined. As shown in FIG. 6, for example, a correction value using a function of the burnup degree of TRU waste is set, and the radioactivity concentration of Np-237 is corrected.
Further, as the correction method other than the above, without the correlation curve L 0 as a reference as described above, the results of obtaining the burnup from Cm-244 / Cs-137 in FIG. 4, the value B 1 met If so, the radioactivity concentration of the Pu nuclide may be obtained directly using the correlation curve L 1 corresponding to the burnup B 1 .
The recycled fuel sent to the reprocessing facility is temporarily stored for about 1 to 4 years for cooling. During this time, the radionuclide with a short half-life will be attenuated by natural decay, making it difficult to measure radiation by a nondestructive external measurement method. However, since the half-life of Cs-137, which is the target of nondestructive external measurement in this embodiment, is 30.67 years, and the half-life of Cm-244 is 18.1 years, the storage period has passed. It is also possible to evaluate the radioactivity concentration. Therefore, a method for calculating the radioactivity concentration of U nuclide, Np-237, Pu nuclide and Am nuclide by the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide, and the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 and Cs-137. A method for calculating the burn-up using the ratio of the concentration to the radioactivity concentration is effective.

FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing the flow of processing executed by the radioactivity
In the flowchart of FIG. 8, each radioactivity concentration of Pu nuclide is calculated individually, but each radioactivity concentration of U nuclide, Np-237, Pu nuclide, and Am nuclide may be calculated simultaneously.

As explained above, in the TRU waste radioactivity concentration evaluation method, the radioactivity concentration evaluation program, and the radioactivity concentration evaluation apparatus according to the present embodiment, among the radionuclides contained in the TRU waste to be evaluated After determining the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 by the nondestructive external measurement method, the TRU was calculated from the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 by the nondestructive external measurement method using the scaling factor method using Cm-244 as a key nuclide. The radioactivity concentration of the nuclide is obtained. As a result, the radioactivity concentration of TRU nuclides in TRU waste generated from the spent nuclear fuel reprocessing facility can be evaluated by a simple method.
Further, in the TRU waste radioactivity concentration evaluation method, radioactivity concentration evaluation program, and radioactivity concentration evaluation apparatus according to the present embodiment, the radioactivity concentration of Cs-137 is measured together with Cm-244 by a nondestructive external measurement method. The Cm-244 activity determined by the non-destructive external measurement method using the correlation between the ratio of the radioactivity concentration of Cm-244 and the radioactivity concentration of Cs-137 and the burnup of TRU radioactive waste The burn-up degree of TRU waste is calculated from the ratio of the concentration and the radioactivity concentration of Cs-137, and the radioactivity concentrations of Np-237, Pu nuclide, and Am nuclide obtained by the scaling factor method are corrected based on the burn-up. By doing so, the radioactivity concentrations of Np-237, Pu nuclide, and Am nuclide can be accurately obtained in all Cm-244 radioactivity concentration regions.
