Description
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing an optical sheet that is disposed closer to an observer than an image light source and can appropriately control image light and external light, and in particular, blocks external light incident over a wide range. The present invention relates to a method for producing an optical sheet capable of improving contrast.
In a display device such as a television using a plasma display panel (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “PDP”), an optical sheet is disposed on the viewer side of the PDP. This optical sheet has a role of providing a high-quality image to an observer. Therefore, the optical sheet is arranged in parallel along the sheet surface, and is arranged between the prism portion that transmits the image light from the PDP and the prism portion, and appropriately blocks or reflects the image light and external light to improve the contrast. And a wedge-shaped portion that suppresses ghosts (
The optical sheet described in
Then, this invention provides the manufacturing method of the optical sheet which can absorb external light appropriately in a wide range and can improve contrast in view of the said problem.
The invention described in
According to the present invention, the light absorption part formed between the prism parts and the light absorption layer laminated on the prism part and the light absorption part are formed to appropriately absorb external light in a wide range and improve the contrast. An optical sheet that can be provided can be provided. Furthermore, in this optical sheet, the light absorption part and the light absorption layer can be formed at the same time, and the light absorption layer can be formed more easily.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described based on embodiments shown in the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram for explaining a first embodiment, showing a cross section of an

Due to the relationship between the refractive index difference and the incident angle of the image light, a part of the image light can be reflected at the interface without entering the

Further, the angle θ of the oblique sides (two sides extending in the sheet thickness direction) of the wedge-shaped
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the optical
It is preferable that the angles θ 1 and θ 2 have a relationship of θ 1 > θ 2 and both are in the range of greater than 0 degree and less than or equal to 10 degrees. A more preferable angle is greater than 0 degree and 6 degrees or less. Further, the two
The modification is an example constituted by two hypotenuses, but may be formed in a polygonal line shape in the cross section by comprising more hypotenuses. Furthermore, this may be curved.
In this embodiment, the case where the wedge-shaped portion is a triangle has been shown and described, but the shape of the wedge-shaped portion is not limited to this and may be a trapezoid. FIG. 4 shows the wedge-shaped
Returning to FIG. 1, another configuration of the
The
For example, an ND filter (Neutral Density Filter) layer can be applied to reduce the amount of light regardless of the wavelength of the light, and a Tint layer or the like is applied to reduce the amount of light of a predetermined range of wavelengths. be able to.
The amount of light reduced in the
As will be described later, the pressure-
With the

FIG. 6 is a diagram for explaining the second embodiment, showing a cross section of the
The
The
Here, the method of laminating the light absorption layers 17 and 27 is not particularly limited. For example, it may be formed by laminating the film to be a light absorption layer previously formed in a film shape. Alternatively, a material having a photo-curing property to be a light absorption layer may be applied to the sheet in a liquid state and irradiated with ultraviolet rays or the like to be cured. According to this, it is possible to directly coat the light absorption layer.
FIG. 7 is a diagram for explaining the third embodiment, and is a diagram schematically showing a layer configuration in a cross section of the
Here, as can be seen from FIGS. 7 and 8, the
Here, the thickness of the
The

FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view of an
The
About the base material layer comprised in the
Furthermore, the optical sheet includes a film layer for blocking electromagnetic waves, a film layer for correcting color tone, a film layer for cutting neon lines, a film layer for cutting infrared rays, a film layer for preventing reflection, and a film layer for preventing charging. Further, a functional film layer such as a film layer for the purpose of antiglare may be provided.
Next, a configuration when the
As shown in FIG. 10, the
Here, various layers of AR, AS, and AG have been exemplified as other layers provided, but other layers having other functions can be provided as necessary. Examples thereof include a layer that blocks electromagnetic waves, a layer that blocks infrared rays and neon wires, and a toning layer.
Here, the gap A is provided between the
Next, how the external light is blocked by the optical sheet will be described. FIG. 11 is a graph of so-called viewing angle characteristics showing the characteristics of the light absorption layer and the optical function sheet layer when the horizontal axis represents the viewing angle (degrees) and the vertical axis represents the relative luminance (%). Here, the viewing angle means the angle between the normal line of the screen from the center of the screen and the line of sight toward the center of the screen. The sign of the viewing angle is positive in the upper part of FIG. 10 and negative in the lower part of the figure. The relative luminance means the ratio (ratio) of the luminance when the optical sheet is arranged to the luminance when the luminance when the optical sheet is not arranged is 100%.
The viewing angle characteristics were measured by measuring the luminance at each viewing angle. The measurement was performed using a three-dimensional goniophotometer (Murakami Color Research Laboratory, GP-500).
As can be seen from FIG. 11, the optical function sheet layer has a viewing angle of ± 15 degrees and a higher relative luminance than the light absorption layer. Therefore, this means that the optical function sheet layer hardly absorbs outside light within the range of the viewing angle. On the other hand, although the light absorption layer has a relatively constant relative luminance over a wide range, the relative luminance is high at a large viewing angle (an angle having a large absolute value), and it is difficult to absorb external light.
According to the
On the other hand, according to the conventional
As described above, according to the optical sheet of each aspect described above, since external light incident from a wide range can be appropriately absorbed, an optical sheet with good contrast can be obtained.
The optical sheet having the above configuration will be described in more detail.
As a reference example, how the contrast is affected when the external light incident angle is reduced in the example (reference example) provided with the light absorption layer having no wavelength dependency and the example (comparative example) not provided with the light absorption layer. An example of testing for existence is shown. The conditions and results will be described below.

<Test sample>
As a test sample, an optical sheet in which only the presence or absence of the light absorption layer and the lamination position were changed was manufactured. Table 1 shows the details.
Here, no. The optical sheet shown by No. 1 is a reference example (corresponding to the optical sheet 10) provided with a light absorbing layer on the viewer side, No. 1 The optical sheet shown by 2 is a reference example (corresponding to the optical sheet 20) provided with a light absorption layer on the image source side. No. The optical sheet indicated by 3 is an optical sheet not provided with a light absorption layer.
<Contrast measurement>
The contrast was measured as follows. External light is applied to the center of the screen of the PDP at a predetermined angle from above so that the illuminance is 150 lx. The brightness ratio between the case where the screen is displayed white by the PDP and the case where the screen is black is defined as the contrast. Here, the predetermined angle is 30 degrees.
In the evaluation, the contrast value at the predetermined angle (30 degrees) was compared with the contrast value (reference contrast) at an external light incident angle of 45 degrees when the light absorption layer was not disposed (same as No. 3). Table 2 shows the results.
When the light absorption layer serving as the reference contrast was not disposed, the contrast at an external light incident angle of 45 degrees was 54.6. On the other hand, when the contrast of each optical sheet when the external light incident angle is 30 degrees is small, Comparative Example No. In 3, the contrast is lowered. On the other hand, no. 1 and no. In No. 2, no. The same contrast as that obtained when the external light incident angle of 3 was 45 degrees could be obtained. That is, by providing the light absorption layer, a good contrast can be obtained even at a shallow angle, and as a result, a good contrast can be obtained even for a wide range of external light incident angles.
