Claims (4)
- 処理方向に移動可能な像担持面上にカラー画像を印刷する画像印刷システムをモニタリングする方法であって、前記方法は、
像担持面上に各々複数の位置合わせマークを含む複数の列を形成すべくマーキング材料を配置し、位置合わせマークの各列は処理方向と交差するクロス処理方向に延出し、
前記クロス処理方向に延出する線形アレイセンサ用いて各列における各位置合わせマークの位置を検出し、各位置合わせマークの前記位置は前記処理方向及び前記クロス処理方向の両方において検出され、
前記検出された各列における各位置合わせマークの位置に基づいて、各列における前記複数の列の各々の各位置合わせマークの平均位置を検出し、各位置合わせマークの前記平均位置は前記処理方向及び前記クロス処理方向の両方において検出され、
前記検出された各列における前記複数の列の各々の各位置合わせマークの前記処理方向における平均位置に基づいて、各列間の前記位置合わせマークの前記処理方向におけるずれを決定し、
前記検出された各列における前記複数の列の各々の各位置合わせマークの前記クロス処理方向における平均位置に基づいて、各列間の前記位置合わせマークの前記クロス処理方向におけるずれを決定する、
ことを含む方法。 - 前記像担持面上のカラー画像の高精度な位置合わせを提供するために前記処理方向におけるずれ及び前記クロス処理方向におけるずれに基づいて補正関数を決定することを更に含む請求項1記載の方法。
- 像担持面上に各々複数の位置合わせマークを含む複数の列を形成するようにマーキング材料を配置すべく構成される印刷エンジンであって、前記位置合わせマークの各列は処理方向と交差するクロス処理方向に延出する、印刷エンジンと、
前記像担持面に隣接し、前記クロス処理方向に延出する線形アレイセンサであって、前記線形アレイセンサは各位置合わせマークの位置を検出すべく構成され、各位置合わせマークの前記位置は、前記処理方向及び前記クロス処理方向の両方に沿って検出される、線形アレイセンサと、
プロセッサであって、
(a)各列間の前記位置合わせマークの前記処理方向におけるずれを、各列における前記複数の列の各々の、前記処理方向における各位置合わせマークの平均位置に基づいて、決定し、
(b)各列間の前記位置合わせマークの前記クロス処理方向におけるずれを、各列における前記複数の列の各々の、前記クロス処理方向における各位置合わせマークの平均位置に基づいて、決定すべく構成されるプロセッサと、
を含む画像印刷システム。 - 前記プロセッサは、前記像担持面上のカラー画像の高精度な位置合わせを提供するために前記処理方向におけるずれ及び前記クロス処理方向におけるずれに基づいて補正関数を決定すべく構成される請求項3記載の画像印刷システム。
