Claims (9)
- 複数の画素がマトリックス状に配列されたディスプレイ装置であって、
前記画素は、
第1基板と、
前記第1基板上に備えられた第1偏光板と、
第2基板と、
前記第1基板と第2基板との間に配された液晶層と、
前記第1基板と第2基板との間に配され、外部光または内部光を反射または透過させる第2偏光板と、
前記第2偏光板の下部に備えられ、前記内部光を照射するバックライトユニットと、
前記バックライトユニットの下部に備えられる光吸収層と、
前記バックライトユニットと前記光吸収層との間のスイッチングミラーと、
を備え、
前記外部光を利用して画像を表示する反射モードと、前記内部光を利用して画像を表示する透過モードとを含むことを特徴とするディスプレイ装置。 - 前記第1偏光板の上部に拡散板が備えられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記拡散板が前記第1偏光板に密着して空気層の媒介なく備えられることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記拡散板の上部に反射防止層がさらに備えられることを特徴とする請求項2または3に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記バックライトユニットとスイッチングミラーとの間に偏光変換層がさらに備えられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記反射モードと透過モードとは互いに切替可能なことを特徴とする請求項1ないし5のうちいずれか1項に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 第1基板と、
前記第1基板上に備えられた第1偏光板と、
第2基板と、
前記第1基板と第2基板との間に配された液晶層と、
前記第1基板と第2基板との間に配され、外部光または内部光を反射または透過させる第2偏光板と、
前記第2偏光板の下部に備えられ、前記内部光を照射するバックライトユニットと、
前記バックライトユニットの下部に備えられる光吸収層と、
前記バックライトユニットと前記光吸収層との間のスイッチングミラーと、
を備え、
前記外部光が第2偏光板により反射される反射モードと、前記内部光が第2偏光板を通じて透過する透過モードとが互に切替可能なことを特徴とする画素。 - 前記反射モードは、外部光を利用して画像を形成する請求項7に記載の画素。
- 請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置の画像表示方法であって、
第1偏光の光を形成するように第1偏光板を通じて光を通過させるステップと、
第1偏光の光を第2偏光の光に選択的に転換するステップと、
第1偏光の光を第2偏光板から反射させるステップと、
第1偏光の光が第2偏光の光に転換されるとき、第2偏光板を通じて第2偏光の光を透過するステップと、を含む画像表示方法。
