Description
The present invention relates to a lockup damper device capable of reducing impact torque and torque fluctuation in a torque converter.
As is well known, a torque converter is a type of joint that can transmit engine power to a transmission using a working fluid as a medium. A pump impeller that is turned by the engine and a movement of the working fluid that is sent out by the rotation of the pump impeller. The turbine runner that rotates around the turbine runner, and the stator that changes the direction of the working fluid from the turbine runner and guides it to the pump impeller.
FIG. 12 shows a cross section of a conventional torque converter. In the figure, (a) shows a pump impeller, (b) shows a turbine runner, (c) shows a stator, and (d) shows a lock-up damper device, which are housed in an outer shell (e). Therefore, the front cover (f) rotates with the power from the engine, and the pump impeller (a) integrated with the front cover (f) rotates. As a result, the turbine runner (rotor ) Turns.
A shaft (not shown) is fitted to the turbine hub (g) of the turbine runner (b), and the rotation of the turbine runner (b) can be transmitted to a transmission (not shown). Since the torque converter is a kind of fluid coupling, the turbine runner (B) starts to rotate as the rotational speed of the pump impeller (A) increases, and the speed of the turbine runner (B) increases as the speed increases. A) approaches the rotation speed. However, in the torque converter using the working fluid as a medium, the rotational speed of the turbine runner (b) cannot be the same as that of the pump impeller (b).
Therefore, as shown in the figure, when the lockup damper device (d) is provided and the rotational speed of the turbine runner (b) exceeds a predetermined range, the lockup damper device (d) The piston (h) moves in the axial direction and engages with the front cover (f). Since a friction material (re) is attached to the outer periphery of the piston, the piston (h) can rotate at the same speed as the front cover (f) without slipping. Since the lock-up damper device (d) is connected to the turbine runner (b), the turbine runner (b) is directly rotated by the front cover (f), and the power from the engine is transmitted to the transmission. It can be transmitted with high efficiency of almost 100% without any loss due to the fluid.
In this way, when the rotational speed of the turbine runner (b) increases and a certain condition is reached, the piston (h) engages with the front cover (f), but before the engagement, the turbine runner (b) ) And the front cover (f) are not completely the same in rotational speed, and the impact torque based on the speed difference is generated when the piston (h) engages with the front cover (f). Damper springs (N) and (N) between the front cover (F) and the turbine runner (B) in order to reduce the impact torque at the time of engagement and not transmit the engine torque fluctuation after engagement. .. A lock-up damper device (d) equipped with is attached.
Therefore, when the piston (chi) rotating at the same speed as the turbine runner (b) is engaged with the slightly faster front cover (f), the speed of the piston (chi) increases momentarily and the turbine runner ( B) Torque to rotate faster is applied. The damper springs (nu), (nu),... Are configured to absorb and absorb this shocking torque.
Conventionally, various structures of lock-up damper devices are known. For example, a “damper mechanism” according to Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-169714 is connected in series via an intermediate member to ensure a wide torsion angle characteristic. It is a damper mechanism in which a plurality of elastic members (damper springs) are arranged on the outer peripheral portion, and is intended to regulate the movement of the connecting portion of the elastic member including the intermediate member and stabilize the damper characteristics.
Therefore, the lockup damper mechanism includes a retaining plate, a driven member, a coil spring arranged in series in the outer peripheral portion, an intermediate member, and a pressing plate that restricts the axial movement of the intermediate member. Yes. The coil spring elastically connects the retaining plate and the driven member. In this case, the intermediate member is rotatable relative to the retaining plate and the driven member, and an intermediate support portion disposed between the coil springs and an annular coupling portion that restricts the movement of the intermediate support portion in the radial direction outside. And have.
FIG. 13 shows a specific example of a conventional lock-up damper device (d). The lock-up damper device (d) includes an input side central disk (wa), output side plates (le), (le), and a plurality of them. The damper spring (nu), (nu) ..., and the intermediate member (la). The central disk (wa) is sandwiched between both plates (le) and (le), and the damper is placed in the spring accommodating space (ta), (ta),... Formed in each plate (le) and (le). Spring (nu), (nu) ... are housed.
And two damper springs (nu), (nu) are accommodated in one spring accommodating space (ta) curved in an arc shape, and the intermediate member is interposed between both damper springs (nu), (nu). A separator (n) protruding from the outer periphery of (la) is interposed to connect two damper springs (nu) and (nu) in series. Here, the central disk (wa) and the intermediate member (ra) sandwiched between both plates (le) and (le) are capable of relative rotation.
The central disk (wa) is generally ring-shaped, and has spring retainers (yo), (yo),... Two damper springs (nu) and (nu) are accommodated in a spring accommodating space (ta), and both ends thereof are sandwiched between the spring retainers (yo) and (yo). Further, auxiliary damper springs (ne), (ne),... Having a high spring constant are attached to the outer peripheral portion of the central disk (wa).
By the way, the inner peripheral side of the plate (le) is fixed to the turbine hub (g) together with the turbine runner (b), and is formed on the outer periphery of the central disk (wa). Is engaged with the outer periphery of the piston. Therefore, the lock-up damper device (d) rotating together with the turbine runner (b) is moved to the front cover (f) rotating at a higher speed by operating the piston (h) when the predetermined rotational speed is reached. If engaged, the damper springs (nu), (nu),... Are compressed and deformed by the impact torque based on the speed difference between the two. At this time, the damper springs (nu) and (nu) are uniformly compressed and deformed by rotating the intermediate member (la) along with the compression deformation of the damper springs (nu) and (nu). Is done.
Thus, the torque converter incorporating the lock-up damper device (d) reduces the impact torque when the piston (h) engages with the front cover (f) and absorbs engine torque fluctuations in the engaged state. I can do it. Alleviation of impact torque at the time of piston engagement and absorption of engine torque fluctuation in the piston engagement state are all performed based on the compression deformation of the damper springs (nu), (nu).
Incidentally, the lock-up damper device is greatly influenced by the spring characteristics of the damper spring (nu), and basically a damper spring (nu) having a large compression stroke with respect to a predetermined load is used. 2, two damper springs (nu) and (nu) are arranged in series via an intermediate member (la).
As described above, the lockup damper device incorporated in the conventional torque converter has the above-described problems. The problems to be solved by the present invention are these problems. A lock-up damper device that absorbs small vibrations by making the spring constant of the damper spring relatively small and enhances the damping effect even for large vibrations. provide.
The lock-up damper device for a torque converter targeted by the present invention includes a damper spring capable of absorbing small vibrations associated with engine torque fluctuations, and also relieves large shock torque when the piston engages with the front cover. The vibration is immediately attenuated. Therefore, the lockup damper device of the present invention has a structure in which the inertia of the input side member is increased with the damper spring as a reference, and conversely, the inertia of the output side member is reduced.
The conventional lock-up damper device shown in FIG. 13 has a structure in which a substantially ring-shaped central disk (wa) as an input member is sandwiched between two plates (le) and (le) as output members. ing. Therefore, the inertia of the input side member is small, and the inertia of the output side member is relatively large. Even when the thickness of the central disk (wa) is increased, the inertia does not increase compared to the two plates (le) and (le).
Therefore, in the present invention, an input side member constituted by two outer plates is positioned on both sides of the output side member and sandwiched. Therefore, the inertia of the input side member is increased and the inertia of the output side member is decreased. Further, an auxiliary damper spring is attached to the outer periphery of the plate, which is an input side member, to increase the inertia.
On the other hand, a plurality of damper springs are interposed between the input side member and the output side member. For this purpose, the damper springs are fitted into spring accommodating spaces formed on both outer plates of the input side member. Both ends of the spring are clamped by a spring presser of a disk as an output side member. Since the mass of the outer peripheral portion of the disk, which is the output side member, is reduced by making the spring retainer protrude from the outer periphery of the ring-shaped disk, inertia is suppressed.
In the present invention, since the output side member is sandwiched between the input side members constituted by two outer plates, the inertia of the input side member is large and the inertia of the output side member is small. That is, since the inertia of the input side member with respect to the damper spring is large, torque vibration until entering the damper spring is reduced, and the torque vibration is further reduced by the damper spring.
Further, since the natural frequency is inversely proportional to the 1/2 power of the inertia with respect to a predetermined damper spring, the lockup damper device of the present invention can be brought into a lockup state at a low rotational speed stage.
In the lock-up damper device of the present invention, since the two damper springs are arranged in series via the separator, the compression stroke of the damper spring is large and small vibrations are absorbed. That is, it is possible to sufficiently absorb the vibration accompanying the torque fluctuation of the engine in the lockup state where the piston is engaged with the front cover. Further, a relatively large vibration based on the impact torque when the piston is engaged with the front cover can be reduced by increasing the inertia of the input side member.
FIG. 1 is an embodiment showing a torque converter provided with a lockup damper device according to the present invention. In the figure, 1 is a pump impeller, 2 is a turbine runner, 3 is a stator, 4 is a lock-up damper device, 5 is an outer shell, 6 is a piston, and 7 is a front cover. The basic structure and basic operation of the torque converter are the same as those of the conventional torque converter, and the present invention is characterized by the structure of the lockup damper device.
FIG. 2 is a conceptual diagram of a lock-up damper device according to the present invention. As shown in the figure, a plurality of
In the figure, two
The damper springs 8a, 8a,..., 8b, 8b,... Arranged in series via the
In addition to the damper springs 8a, 8a,..., 8b, 8b,..., An
FIG. 3 shows the relationship between the torsional angle and the torque associated with the compression deformation of the damper springs 8a, 8a..., 8b, 8b. When the
Of course, in this case, the damper springs 8b, 8b ... provided on the inner peripheral side and the damper springs 8a, 8a ... provided on the outer peripheral side are both compressed and deformed, but the magnitude of the torque to be borne may be different from each other. . That is, damper springs having different dimensions may be used, and the amount of compressive deformation for the same torsion angle differs between the inner peripheral side and the outer peripheral side. For example, by setting the load distribution on the outer peripheral side and the inner peripheral side to about 3: 7, it is possible to equalize the load of the transmission torque generated with respect to the input side and output side torsion. However, it is ideal that the load accompanying the compressive deformation of the damper springs 8a, 8a,..., 8b, 8b .. is equalized between the outer peripheral side and the inner peripheral side. The torque generated in the is different.

As shown in FIG. 5, the outer peripheral

FIG. 7 is a specific example showing the
FIG. 8 shows a state in which the
By the way, the pump impeller 1 rotates, and at the same time, the
The impact torque generated when the
Reducing the impact torque when the piston is engaged and absorbing engine torque fluctuations in the lock-up state are the same as in the conventional lock-up
The lock-up
On the other hand, if each of these
FIG. 9 shows a holding metal fitting 37 for attaching the
Further, in the case of a large impact torque that cannot be absorbed even when the
FIG. 11 shows a front view (including a partial cross section) of the
By the way, the lock-up
In FIG. 4, the input side member is both
On the other hand, the
Therefore, the small torque vibration transmitted from the engine is sufficiently absorbed by the damper springs 8a, 8a,..., 8b, 8b,. In addition, in the case of torque vibration having a large amplitude, since the inertia of the input side member is large, the amplitude is reduced by the input side member, and the damper springs 8a, 8a, 8b, 8b,. Are absorbed by the damper springs 8a, 8a,. That is, the lock-up
