Description
The present invention relates to a lubricant application device that applies a lubricant onto an image carrier cleaned by a cleaning device, a process cartridge including the lubricant application device, and an image forming apparatus.
The image forming process in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus uses a photoconductive phenomenon to form an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductor as an image carrier, and the toner particles colored on the electrostatic latent image are electrostatically charged. It refers to the process of forming a visible image by applying force. In an image forming apparatus that employs such an electrophotographic system, a lubricant application device that applies a lubricant to the surface of a photoreceptor, which is the main member, is usually provided.
The lubricant application device is used to solve various problems that occur in a cleaning process of an image forming apparatus, for example, a step of scraping off toner remaining on the surface of a photoreceptor after transferring a toner image with a cleaning brush or a cleaning blade. That is, the life of the photosensitive member and the intermediate transfer belt is mainly determined by the degree of wear due to mechanical friction with the cleaning brush or the cleaning blade. Therefore, by applying a lubricant to the surface of the photosensitive member and the intermediate transfer belt. The friction coefficient of the surface is reduced to suppress wear, thereby extending the life. Furthermore, by applying a lubricant to the surface of the photoconductor, not only the life of the photoconductor is extended, but also the deposits adhering to the surface of the photoconductor can be easily cleaned as the friction coefficient of the surface of the photoconductor decreases. Have advantages. That is, by applying a lubricant to the surface of the photoconductor, residual toner remaining on the surface of the photoconductor or the intermediate transfer belt without being completely transferred to the recording medium or the like in the transfer process is easily removed by the cleaning brush or the cleaning blade.
By the way, in recent years, spheroidized toners prepared by a polymerization method have been suitably used. However, since spheroidized toners have a uniform particle size distribution and can effectively reduce the particle size, image quality can be reduced. However, there is a problem that it is difficult to remove residual toner from the photoreceptor, that is, cleaning. From this point of view, it is considered that a technique for applying a lubricant to the surface of the photosensitive member by a lubricant application device and thereby improving the cleaning property of the photosensitive member will become more important in the future.
The lubricant is applied by supplying a small amount of powder in the form of powder to the surface of the photoreceptor. As a specific application method, the lubricant is formed into a block shape by an application means such as a rotating lubricant application brush roller. A method of scraping and applying the solid lubricant is mentioned. If it is important to give lubricity, it is sufficient to continue supplying a certain amount or more of lubricant, but when the supply amount becomes excessive, excess lubricant, for example, stains the surface of the charging roller provided adjacently, There may be a problem in that uniform charging of the surface of the photoreceptor is prevented. On the other hand, when the coating amount is too small, so-called filming in which the toner adheres to the surface of the image carrier tends to occur.
In the lubricant application device, a lubricant holding member for holding the solid lubricant is accommodated in order to press the solid lubricant against the lubricant application brush roller for applying the lubricant to the surface of the photoreceptor. In the lubricant holder, the solid lubricant is slidably attached in the direction of pressing the solid lubricant against the lubricant application brush roller.
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 12, the
In order to prevent such uneven wear of the solid lubricant, methods described in
However, in the lubricant application device described in Patent Document 1, the plurality of rotating
Moreover, in the thing of
In the one described in
In order to prevent the solid lubricant from hitting the lubricant application brush roller by using such rotating pressing
The lubricant application device described in Patent Document 3 uses the

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
First, before describing each embodiment of the lubricant coating apparatus, which is the main part of the present invention, an outline of a copying machine as an image forming apparatus provided with the lubricant coating apparatus, which is the main part of the present invention, will be described. To do.
FIG. 1 is a longitudinal sectional front view schematically showing the internal structure of a copying machine. FIG. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view showing a schematic configuration of a process cartridge constituting the image forming unit of the copying machine shown in FIG.
As shown in FIG. 1, a recording medium storage unit 3 for storing a recording medium P such as plain paper is provided at the lower part of the apparatus
The image reading unit 4 includes a

Since the

The

Next, each embodiment of the lubricant application device which is the main part of the present invention will be described.
(Embodiment 1)
The lubricant application device according to the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 3 is a side view showing a schematic configuration of the lubricant application device. FIG. 4 is a plan view in which the side wall of the lubricant holding member and the upper cover of the storage case of the lubricant application device shown in FIG. 3 are removed. FIG. 5 is a plan view showing an initial state in which the solid lubricant of the lubricant application device shown in FIG. 4 is replaced. 6 is a plan view showing an initial state in which the solid lubricant of the lubricant application device shown in FIG. 3 is replaced. FIG. 7 is a plan view showing a state where the solid lubricant of the lubricant application device shown in FIG.
In the first embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2, the

Furthermore, the first

That is, as the height H of the
Here, since the movement amount of the first
In this case, since the
In this case, when the
As shown in FIG. 7, when the

(Embodiment 2)
Next, the lubricant application device according to the second embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS.
In the lubricant application device according to the first exemplary embodiment, in order to press the
The pressing means 60 according to the second embodiment includes a pair of pressing

Further, the
As shown in FIGS. 8 and 10, the rotation angle control means 62 is upward (in the direction of the lubricant application brush roller 29 (lubricant application means)) at the center of the
This pinion-rack mechanism has the same configuration as that of the first embodiment described above, and is attached so as to be movable in the upward and downward directions so that the
In the first embodiment, by restricting the vertical movement distance of the
As shown in FIG. 11, the rotation angle of the
As in the first embodiment, the lubricant application device according to the second embodiment configured as described above has the
As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, when the
As described above, the lubricant application device according to the second embodiment is similar to the first embodiment in that a pair of lubricant disposed between the
Moreover, the lubricant application device according to the second embodiment is provided with a pair of pressing
The image forming apparatus provided with the lubricant application device according to the present embodiment has been described above. However, the above-described embodiment shows an example of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited thereto. The present invention is not limited, and various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
