Description
The present invention relates to an ink jet printing apparatus that performs recording by ejecting ink from a head onto a recording medium such as paper.
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, printing apparatuses that employ an ink jet method as a means for recording digital images in information processing devices such as copying apparatuses, communication devices, and computers have become widespread. This printing apparatus performs recording by ejecting and landing ink on a recording medium such as paper using a recording head (inkjet head) in which a plurality of recording elements (nozzles) are arranged. It has the advantage of low running costs.
A conventional printing apparatus such as an ink jet head that uses an ink discharge head and an ink path that circulates ink needs to stabilize the temperature of the ink in order to obtain a high-quality image. When the temperature of the ink is unstable, the viscosity of the ink changes, so that the amount of ink ejected from the ink ejection head becomes unstable. As a result, the size of the dots due to the small amount of ink that has landed on the recording medium changes in accordance with the temperature change of the ink, resulting in a change in line thickness and a reduction in image quality such as density unevenness.
According to this image recording apparatus, since the ink circulation control unit controls the ink circulation flow rate based on the ink temperature, the ink temperature can be controlled within an appropriate temperature range without causing deterioration.
However, the conventional printing apparatus employing the circulation type ink jet method has a problem that it takes time to bring all the circulating ink to a constant temperature. Therefore, in the image recording apparatus described in
Further,
The present invention solves the above-described problems of the prior art, does not require an additional mechanism such as a valve, and can quickly and accurately adjust the temperature of ejected ink, thereby shortening the warm-up time.

By reducing the time until the temperature reaches the optimum temperature range, even if the ink temperature rises / falls, it returns to the optimum temperature range in a short time and adversely affects the printed image quality due to the ink temperature. Can be avoided. In addition, since only a necessary region can be heated, power consumption can be reduced.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. First, the configuration of the present embodiment will be described. FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of a
The
Further, the
The printing paper fed one by one from the paper feed mechanism of either the side
A plurality of
The printing paper is conveyed in units of lines by ink ejected from the inkjet heads provided in each
The printed printing paper is further conveyed in the housing by a driving mechanism such as a roller. In the case of single-sided printing in which printing is performed only on one side of the printing paper, the paper is guided to the
In the case of double-sided printing in which printing is performed on both sides of printing paper, the front side (the first printed side is “front side” and the next printed side is “back side”) is not guided to the
FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating a configuration related to the ink path of the
Here, the plurality of
Although not shown in FIG. 2, the
Further, in the
The
The
The
The lower tank 4 stores ink that has not been ejected from the inkjet head. Specifically, the lower tank 4 is provided on the downstream side of the plurality of
The ink supply from the
The
A temperature sensor (not shown) corresponds to the first temperature sensor of the present invention, and measures the temperature of ink in the inkjet head. For example, this temperature sensor measures the temperature of ink in at least one of the plurality of
The
The
FIG. 3 is a block diagram illustrating a detailed configuration of the
The
As shown in FIG. 5 described later, an appropriate temperature range for ink temperature when printing is between a
As shown in FIG. 5, the reference temperature is a

<Operation of printing device>
Next, the operation of the present embodiment configured as described above will be described. FIG. 4 is a flowchart for explaining the operation of the
Next, the
Next, the first temperature sensor provided in the
Thereafter, the
In this case, the
In step S11, when the temperature measured by the first temperature sensor is equal to or higher than the second reference temperature, the
In this case, the
In step S15, when the temperature measured by the first temperature sensor is lower than the fourth reference temperature, the
In step S19, when the temperature measured by the first temperature sensor is equal to or higher than the first reference temperature, the
In step S23, if the temperature measured by the first temperature sensor is equal to or higher than the third reference temperature, the temperature of the ink is equal to or higher than the third reference temperature and lower than the fourth reference temperature. Is turned off and the cooling unit is turned on (step S27). Also. The
After step S14, step S18, step S22, step S26, or step S29, the
As shown in steps S11 to S29 in FIG. 4, the
FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating the relationship between the ink temperature and the ink flow rate in the
As a precondition, the difference between the ink inlet temperature and the outlet temperature is zero when nothing is adjusted. The recommended circulation flow width of the inkjet head of the
As described above, according to the
That is, the
In particular, since the
Further, since the
Further, in the
Furthermore, since the
In carrying out the present invention, the
The
Next, the
The second temperature sensor is provided on the upstream side of the

<Operation of printing device>
Next, the operation of the present embodiment configured as described above will be described. FIG. 7 is a flowchart for explaining the operation of the
First, the
Further, when receiving the print job in step S51, the
Since the
Thereafter, the
Other operations are the same as those in the first embodiment, and redundant description is omitted.
As described above, according to the
In the above-described embodiment, an example in which a plurality of inkjet heads are arranged in a staggered manner in the main scanning direction to form a line head has been described. However, the present invention is not limited to this. In other words, the present invention can also be applied to a case where a line head is constituted by a single inkjet head.
The printing apparatus according to the present invention can be used in an inkjet printing apparatus that performs recording by ejecting ink from a head onto a recording medium such as paper.
