Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an ink jet printer that performs desired printing on a print medium by ejecting ink while moving a head unit relative to the print medium.
In the ink jet printer as described above, a plurality of ink jet heads corresponding to the respective colors are installed in the head unit, and ink droplets ejected from a large number of nozzles formed on the ink jet head are adhered to the print medium in layers. Thus, desired characters, figures, patterns, photographs, etc. are printed on the print medium. At this time, in the case where the compatibility between the ink jet head and the printer or the optimization of the driving method of the head unit is insufficient, the ink droplets follow the desired ink droplets ejected by the ink ejection control, and the liquid droplets rather than the ink droplets. Ink droplets called satellites having small droplet sizes (hereinafter referred to as satellite ink droplets) may occur.
Among these satellite ink droplets, the mass is small compared to the desired ink droplets, so that the droplet velocity is easily reduced due to air resistance, and more susceptible to airflow due to the operation of the head unit. Some droplet trajectories deviate from the desired trajectory and become ink droplets called mist (hereinafter referred to as ink mist) that cannot float on the surface of the print medium and float in the printer. The ink mist generated in this manner causes adhesion such as adhesion to the nozzle surface of the ink jet head and defective discharge or contamination on other components of the printer. Such a failure caused by ink mist is caused when, for example, printing is performed with a relatively large gap between the nozzle surface of the inkjet head (the surface on which a large number of nozzles are formed) and the print medium, for example, on the surface of the print medium having irregularities. There has been a problem that it becomes even more prominent in textile printing inkjet printers that need to avoid printing and fuzzing of fabrics.
However, in the conventional countermeasure against ink mist as described above, the ink mist suction part and the ink absorbing member are arranged around the inkjet head and on both sides inside the printer in the head moving direction, and the ink mist is sucked or captured. In this case, since the arrangement is such that it passes through the vicinity of the nozzle surface of the inkjet head, there is a problem that it is not possible to eliminate adhesion of ink mist to the nozzle surface of the inkjet head.
The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and provides an ink jet printer capable of guiding and removing the generated ink mist in a direction away from the nozzle surface of the ink jet head that does not cause a failure. Objective.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a head unit (for example, the
In the ink jet printer configured as described above, it is preferable that the air outlet is provided in the vicinity of the ink discharge port of the ink jet head.
In the ink jet printer having the above configuration, it is preferable that the air outlets are disposed on both sides of the ink jet head in the moving direction of the head unit. Alternatively, the air outlet may be provided so as to surround the ink jet head. When a plurality of the ink jet heads corresponding to the respective colors are installed in the head unit in the moving direction of the head unit, the air outlets are positioned on both sides of each of the ink jet heads. It is preferable that the ink jet heads are alternately arranged in the moving direction of the head unit.
Moreover, it is preferable that the inkjet printer of the said structure prints with respect to the printing medium which has many ventilation holes.
An ink jet printer according to the present invention includes an air blowing mechanism that generates an air flow from a blowout port provided to a head unit so as to face a media support plate, and a surface that supports the print medium of the media support plate. And an air suction mechanism that sucks air from a plurality of suction ports and generates an air flow from the space above the media support plate toward the suction port. With this configuration, an air flow is generated in a certain direction from the head unit to the media support plate, and when ink mist is generated, the air mist moves the ink mist away from the nozzle surface of the inkjet head that does not cause a failure. The ink mist can be removed by being guided in the direction, and the ink mist can be prevented from adhering to unspecified components in the printer and contaminating them. In particular, it is possible to prevent the generated ink mist from adhering to the nozzle surface of the inkjet head, thereby enabling stable continuous ejection of ink by the inkjet head.
In the present invention, the air outlet is preferably provided in the vicinity of the ink discharge port of the ink jet head. When the air outlet is provided in this way, the air flowing from the ink discharge port of the ink jet head, that is, near the nozzle surface to the media support plate. Since a flow can be generated, the effect of preventing the ink mist from adhering to the nozzle surface can be enhanced by this air flow.
In the present invention, the air outlets are preferably disposed on both sides of the ink jet head in the moving direction of the head unit. When the air outlets are provided in this way, the droplet trajectory of the ink droplets ejected from the ink jet head is provided. The above air flow is generated on both sides, and this air flow prevents the ink mist from adhering to the nozzle surface as described above, and the ink droplets ejected from the ink jet head are affected by the air flow caused by the operation of the head unit. From the droplet trajectory can be restricted, and the image quality can be improved. The air outlet may be provided so as to surround the ink jet head. When the air outlet is provided in this way, the air flow is generated so as to surround the droplet trajectory of the ink droplets. Thus, it is possible to prevent the ink mist from adhering to the nozzle surface and to restrict the ink droplets from deviating from the desired droplet trajectory.
Further, in the present invention, when a plurality of ink jet heads corresponding to each color are installed in the head unit in the moving direction of the head unit, the air outlets are positioned so as to be located on both sides of each ink jet head. It is preferable that the unit is arranged alternately with the inkjet head in the moving direction of the unit. When the outlets are provided in this way, the air flow is supplied to both sides of the droplet trajectory of the ink droplets ejected from each inkjet head. This air flow can prevent the ink mist from adhering to the nozzle surface of each inkjet head, and the ink droplets ejected from each inkjet head can deviate from the desired droplet trajectory. The ink droplets of each color will mix with each other before they adhere to the surface of the print media. It can be stopped, thereby making it possible to improve the image quality.
In the inkjet printer of the present invention, it is preferable to perform printing on a print medium having a large number of air holes. When printing is performed on such a print medium, the ink is blown from the outlet of the head unit. The air flowing through the print medium passes through the print medium and is sucked into the suction port of the media support plate, generating a more stable air flow in a certain direction, and this air flow separates the ink mist from the nozzle surface of the inkjet head, which does not cause a failure. The ink can be guided and removed in the direction, and the ink mist can be prevented from adhering to unspecified components in the printer and contaminating them.
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In this embodiment, a configuration example in which the present invention is applied to an inkjet printer for textile use using a fabric product (for example, a T-shirt) having a large number of mesh-shaped ventilation holes as a print medium will be described. FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the inkjet printer P as viewed obliquely from the front, and FIG. 3 shows a schematic mechanism configuration of the inkjet printer P. First, a schematic configuration of the inkjet printer P with reference to these drawings Will be described. In the following description, directions indicated by arrows F, L, and U added in FIG. 2 will be referred to as front, left, and upward, respectively.
The ink jet printer P is roughly provided in a
The
The front / rear moving
The
The
Although not shown in detail, an ink station including a cut ridge type ink tank for each color is provided on the rear surface of the housing 1, and the ink tank and the
The ink jet printer P configured as described above is provided with an
The
The
The
One end side of the
Next, a printing operation on the printing medium M in the inkjet printer P configured as described above will be described. When the printer is stopped, the
The
At this time, as shown in FIG. 4, the nozzles of the
As a countermeasure against this ink mist, in the ink jet printer P, before the ink discharge from the nozzles of the
Desired ink droplets ejected from the
After forming a horizontally long belt-like print area on the print medium M in this way, the medium moving
As described above, in the ink jet printer P, the support plate 11 (the decompression chamber 13) from the
The scope of the present invention is not limited to that shown in the above-described embodiment. For example, in the above-described embodiment, the
Further, in the above-described embodiment, the
In the above-described embodiment, as an example of an inkjet printer to which the present invention is applied, an inkjet printer for textile use that performs printing on a T-shirt (print medium) held on a support plate is shown. The present invention is also applied to an inkjet printer that performs printing while conveying a print medium on a platen, and an inkjet printer that is configured to perform printing while placing a print medium such as a CD on a pallet and conveying the pallet by a belt conveyor. It is possible to apply. However, this is not the case in textile ink jet printers that require printing with a relatively large gap between the nozzle surface of the ink jet head and the print medium, and for which there is a need to avoid fluffing of the fabric, and ink jet printers that use UV ink. By applying the invention, a greater effect can be obtained.
