1.実施の形態(視野角に応じた色度点補正処理を行う液晶表示装置の例)

[液晶表示装置の全体構成例]
図1は、本発明の一実施の形態に係る液晶表示装置(液晶表示装置1)の適用例を表すものであり、図2は、液晶表示装置1の機能ブロック構成を表すものである。この液晶表示装置1は、図1に示したように、ユーザ2が視聴する際の視認方向を示す視認方向情報としての視野角α(図中の法線方向P1に対してなす角度)に応じて、後述する色補正処理(色度点補正処理)を行うものである。このような液晶表示装置としては、例えば、液晶TV、PC用液晶モニターまたはモバイル用液晶ディスプレイなどが挙げられる。
次に、図3〜図6を参照して、表示装置における視野角特性(具体的には、視野角に応じた色変化(カラーシフト))について説明する。
そこで、本実施の形態の液晶表示装置1では、前述の色度点補正部17において、色変化量情報I2を用いて、分光スペクトルの増減分を角度ごとに調整する補正を行っている。これにより、例えば図7(A)中の矢印P4R,P4Gにそれぞれ示したように、変化した色度点を元に戻し、色変化現象を改善することができるからである。
次に、本実施の形態の液晶表示装置1の動作について説明する。
以上、実施の形態を挙げて本発明を説明したが、本発明はこの実施の形態に限定されるものではなく、種々の変形が可能である。
Claims (5)
- ユーザが表示映像を見る際の視認方向を示す視認方向情報を取得する取得部と、
前記取得部により取得された視認方向情報と、前記視認方向とそれに応じた表示光における色変化量とを色差により対応づけてなる色変化量情報と、を用いて、映像信号における色度点を適応的に補正する補正部と、
前記補正部による補正後の映像信号に基づいて映像表示を行う液晶表示部と
を備え、
前記補正部は、前記視認方向情報に対応する視認方向において、前記色変化量が所定の閾値以上となった場合に、前記色度点を補正し、
前記色変化量情報では、映像表示の際の複数種類の画質モードごとに、前記表示光を構成する複数の色光ごとの色変化量と、前記閾値との大小関係が設定されている
液晶表示装置。 - 前記色変化量情報において、
前記複数種類の画質モードのうちのシネマモードでは、前記視認方向に対応する視認角の絶対値が大きくなるのに従って、赤色光および緑色光の色変化量のみが前記閾値以上となり、
前記複数種類の画質モードのうちのスタンダードモードおよびダイナミックモードではそれぞれ、前記視認角の絶対値が大きくなるのに従って、白色光および緑色光の色変化量のみが前記閾値以上となる
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記色変化量情報は、前記映像信号に対するCSC(Color Space Converter)の際の係数を用いて構成されている
請求項1または請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記色変化量情報は、前記複数種類の画質モードの各々についての前記色変化量と前記表示光の分光スペクトルとの関係を示す測定結果において、前記視認方向に応じたスペクトル強度の増減傾向およびその際の波長領域を特定することにより、作成されたものである
請求項1ないし請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記取得部は、ユーザの操作に応じた所定のリモートコントロール装置からの信号を検知する手法と、この液晶表示装置に内蔵された所定のセンサによって検知する手法と、のうちの少なくとも一方の手法を用いて、前記視認方向情報を取得する
請求項1ないし請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
