Description
The present invention relates to a light distribution control lens, a light emitting element that is a light source, a light source device that has the light distribution control lens and controls light distribution from the light source, and a lighting fixture that irradiates an irradiated object using the light source device. It is about.
Inexpensive lighting fixtures that use high-intensity light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with low power consumption and excellent durability and luminous efficiency are widely used as illumination light sources. As lighting fixtures using such LEDs, spotlights for condensing light from a light source in a desired range and backlights for diverging are commercially available.
When irradiating the expected range in the direction directly below the light source with a direct illumination device using LEDs, or when irradiating the back of a liquid crystal panel with a direct backlight for a liquid crystal panel using high-brightness LEDs Therefore, it is necessary to irradiate the illumination range with almost uniform illuminance.
Most of the commercially available LED light sources have a light emitting element sealed with a resin and are not attached with a lens. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 16, when the front front has a radiation angle of 0 °, the radiation angle is 0 °. It has the light distribution characteristic that the relative luminous intensity is the strongest and the relative luminous intensity decreases as the radiation angle increases. Therefore, the irradiated surface cannot be irradiated with uniform illuminance as it is. Therefore, as the radiation angle becomes larger than 0 °, the light distribution characteristic that compensates for the fact that the light quantity per unit area decreases because the light from the light source is irradiated obliquely is required. For that purpose, the intensity of light from the light source must be increased as the radiation angle becomes larger than 0 °.
As an apparatus for irradiating with uniform illuminance with an LED,
Furthermore, as a direct-type backlight that directly irradiates the back surface of the liquid crystal panel with an LED, for example,
These devices require an optical member such as a reflecting surface that reflects light from the LED light source, and thus have a complicated structure and cannot be reduced in size. In addition, with higher performance of liquid crystal panels and the like, more excellent light distribution characteristics capable of uniform irradiation are required.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and can compensate for light from a light source whose relative luminous intensity decreases as the radiation angle increases, and can irradiate the irradiated surface with substantially uniform illuminance. It is an object of the present invention to provide a simple light distribution control lens having light distribution characteristics and a light source device using the same. According to the lens of the present invention and the light source device using the same, the light from the light source whose relative luminous intensity decreases as the radiation angle from the light source increases can be compensated, so that it depends on the radiation angle from the light source. Therefore, it is possible to irradiate the irradiated surface with a substantially uniform illuminance evenly and efficiently. Since the light source device itself has such a light distribution characteristic, a complicated compensation mechanism is not required. Moreover, since it is a small and simple structure, it can be mass-produced, and it can be used side by side as a lighting fixture such as a direct type backlight that gives a uniform illuminance between the irradiated surface directly under and around the light source. .
Hereinafter, although the preferable form for implementing this invention is demonstrated in detail, the scope of the present invention is not limited to these forms.
A lens to which the present invention is applied and a light source device using the same will be described with reference to FIG.
This
Since the center part of both surfaces of the
The
The entrance
This
Further, the irradiated
The irradiated object side lens surface is a smooth continuous surface. As shown in FIG. 1, the cross section of the
Further, the
In addition, the function of distributing the light passing through the center of the lens in the direction with a large radiation angle is shared by the concave-shaped
Also, the shape of the irradiated lens surface is continuously concentric from the center to the outer edge, with a concave curved surface near the center, a substantially conical curved surface around it, and a convex curved surface around it. The surface shape changes to. When light passes through the lens surface of the irradiated object, the light directed toward the axial direction of the central part and the direction slightly inclined from the axial direction at the central part in the vicinity of the central part needs to be distributed in a direction with a large radiation angle. However, light that is directed toward the lens periphery in a direction substantially inclined from the axial direction at the periphery of the central portion is more incident on the lens at a large incident angle, and total reflection tends to occur as the lens surface is closer to a flat surface. Therefore, it is necessary to make it convex so as not to cause total reflection.
Furthermore, the
In the above (
The material of the
If the material of the
Further, since the light from the light source needs to be bent suddenly in the direction of a large radiation angle by the
The

For the LED, an LED chip is sealed with a sealing resin, and a fluorescent material that converts the wavelength of light from the LED chip is disposed in the sealing resin so that the light emitting element is covered. be able to. Further, the LED sealing material is covered with a sheet-like or cap-like covering material in which a fluorescent material or a dye / pigment is contained in a light-transmitting resin or rubber, and a part of the light from the
In addition, when a plurality of LED light emitting devices are densely packed and these serve the same function as the light emitting element light source of one LED chip, and the lens of the present invention is disposed on the light source, the effects of the present invention are exhibited. To the extent it can be of the present invention.
If the LED light source is a light emitting diode, one having a wavelength range, color, and luminance can be appropriately selected and used. The edge portion near the outer periphery of the

The reason is as follows. If the irradiation surface orthogonal to the optical axis is hypothesized, at a point inclined by θ from the optical axis, the distance from the light source to the irradiation point is 1 / (COSθ) times longer than the point on the axis, so evenly irradiated (COSθ ) requires twice the intensity, also is required intensity of COSθ times for the light beam from the light source to the irradiated surface is uniformly irradiated from the incident tilted by theta. Therefore, when all these are multiplied, the point tilted by θ becomes (COSθ) three times darker than the point on the axis, so that (COSθ) three times the luminous intensity is required for uniform irradiation.
In order to explain more specifically, FIG. 15 shows a graph simulating the light distribution characteristic of 1 / (COSθ) 3 . For example, at a radiation angle of 60 °, the light intensity is 8 times that of a radiation angle of 0 °. If a lens having such a light distribution characteristic is used, it is practically impossible to effectively irradiate light having a radiation angle of 90 ° by refracting it in a desired direction, but at least around a radiation angle of 75 °. If so, the light can be refracted in a desired direction to be effectively irradiated.
According to the light source device of the present invention, in order to irradiate uniformly, light can be refracted so as to have uniform illuminance up to a radiation angle of −75 ° to 75 °.

When considering the maximum diameter D of the

Since the light from the light source irradiated by using the lens of the present invention is irradiated at a position of the irradiated object having a large radiation angle at a light intensity greater than the light intensity at the radiation angle of 0 °, it is irradiated with uniform brightness. A body plane can be obtained. Further, the relative luminous intensity is larger than the radiation angle of 0 ° within the radiation angle range of 20 ° to 70 °, preferably 30 ° to 65 °, and the emitted light passes through the lens and is emitted from the front irradiated object side. The proportion of light emitted can be 65% or more, preferably 70% or more, and more preferably 80% or more.
The lens of the present invention can be used as Fresnel as long as the effects of the lens of the present invention are not impaired.

By using the
Although a single light source device may be used as the lighting fixture, a plurality of lighting fixtures can be illuminated so as to have uniform illuminance on the plane of the irradiated object having a larger area.
For example, when the upper limit of the radiation angle that gives a uniform illuminance using a single light source device is 60 °, give a uniform illuminance near the periphery of the radiation angle, for example, the portion where the radiation angle of the light source is ± 70 °. I can't. Therefore, when assembling an illuminating device using a plurality of light source devices, on the plane in the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion where the illuminance decreases, the outer peripheral portions that exceed 60 ° of the radiation angle of adjacent light source devices overlap each other and irradiate multiple times. As described above, a plurality of light source devices are arranged aligned in all directions at appropriate intervals. Then, the light source devices adjacent to each other compensate for the lowering of the illuminance at the outer peripheral portion, and the illuminance at the central portion where the radiation angle is 60 ° or less and the peripheral portion exceeding it are uniform.
Further, the lighting device may be used as a direct type backlight in which a plurality of light source devices are arranged in a plane with a certain interval.

白色LED(オスラム社製LED:LW E67C)の出光窓口の最大径Dは、2.4mmである。 The maximum diameter D of the light exit window of the white LED (Osram LED: LW E67C) is 2.4 mm. The maximum diameter of the lens is φ6, and the maximum height is 1.73 mm. When these conditions are applied to the above (Formula 1), | r1 | = 0.5 and D / 2 = 1.2, and therefore the condition | r1 | <D / 2 is satisfied. When applied to the above (Equation 3), the incident effective aperture diameter CA1 on the light source side of the lens is 2.5, which satisfies the condition of D <CA1 <D × 1.5.

FIG. 3 shows the configuration of Example 2 having a luminous intensity peak around the light source device used in Example 1. Table 2 shows the optical characteristics of the lens as shown in FIG. In addition, the LED light source, the wavelength of the light source used, the refractive index of the lens material, the aspherical formula, and the like are the same as the conditions of the first embodiment.
The maximum diameter D of the light exit window of the LED light source (Osram LED: LW E67C) is 2.4 mm. The maximum diameter of the lens is φ7, and the maximum height is 2.28 mm. When these conditions are applied to the above (formula 1), | r1 | = 0.1 and D / 2 = 1.2, so the condition | r1 | <D / 2 is satisfied. When applied to the above (Formula 2), | r1 = 0.1 and | r2 | = 2.5, so the condition | r1 | <| r2 | is satisfied. When applied to the above (Equation 3), the incident effective aperture diameter CA1 on the light source side of the lens is 2.5, which satisfies the condition of D <CA1 <D × 1.5. Since the shape is also as described above, the conditions of the lens of the present invention are satisfied.
FIG. 4 shows a graph of simulated light distribution characteristics when the light emitted from the light source by the white LED is passed through the lens using the obtained light source device. As is clear from FIG. 4, there is a luminous intensity peak around ± 60 °, the magnitude of which is about 18 times the luminous intensity at an emission angle of 0 °, and a light distribution having a cosine curve when the white LED alone emits light. The characteristics have changed greatly. Of the light emitted from the white LED, the ratio of the light emitted from the front irradiated body side after passing through the lens was 95%.
(Example 3)
FIG. 5 shows the configuration of Example 3 that is closer to the criticality of the conditions of (Equation 1) and (Equation 2) than the light source device used in Example 1. Table 3 shows optical characteristics of the lens as shown in FIG. In addition, the LED light source, the wavelength of the light source used, the refractive index of the lens material, the aspherical formula, and the like are the same as the conditions of the first embodiment.
The maximum diameter D of the light emission window of the LED light source is 2.4 mm. The maximum diameter of the lens is φ6, and the maximum height is 2.28 mm. When these conditions are applied to the above (Formula 1), r1 | = 1.1 and D / 2 = 1.2, and therefore the condition | r1 | <D / 2 is satisfied. When applied to the (formula 2), | r1 | = 1.1 and | r2 | = 1.3, which satisfies the condition | r1 | <| r2 |. When applied to the above (Equation 3), the incident effective aperture diameter CA1 on the light source side of the lens is 2.5, which satisfies the condition of D <CA1 <D × 1.5. Since the shape is also as described above, the conditions of the lens of the present invention are satisfied.
FIG. 6 shows a simulated graph of the light distribution characteristics when light emitted from the light source by the white LED is passed through the lens using the obtained light source device. As is clear from FIG. 6, there is a luminous intensity peak in the vicinity of ± 50 °, which is about 1.7 times the luminous intensity at a radiation angle of 0 °. In addition, among the light emitted from the white LED, the ratio of the light emitted from the front irradiated body side after passing through the lens was 72%. This is because the radius of curvature of r2 is made small in order to bear the refractive power to the irradiation surface side to some extent on the concave shape surface in the central portion, so that the total reflection is somewhat likely to occur. Therefore, as a condition for maintaining good desired light distribution characteristics, the numerical values of this embodiment are considered to be close to criticality.
(Comparative Example 1)
FIG. 7 shows a configuration of Comparative Example 1 in which a lens outside the application of the present invention and deviating from the conditions of (Formula 1) and (Formula 2) is mounted on an LED light source. Table 4 shows the optical characteristics of the lens as shown in FIG. In addition, the LED light source, the wavelength of the light source used, the refractive index of the lens material, the aspherical formula, and the like are the same as the conditions of the first embodiment.
The maximum diameter D of the light emission window of the LED light source is 2.4 mm. The maximum diameter of the lens is φ6, and the maximum height is 1.55 mm. When these conditions are applied to the above (formula 1), | r1 | = 1.4 and D / 2 = 1.2, so the condition | r1 | <D / 2 is not satisfied. When applied to the above (Formula 2), | r1 = 1.4 and | r2 | = 0.8, so the condition | r1 | <| r2 | is not satisfied. However, when applied to the above (Equation 3), since the effective entrance aperture diameter CA1 on the light source side of the lens is 2.5, the condition of D <CA1 <D × 1.5 is satisfied. The shape is as described above.
FIG. 8 shows a simulated graph of the light distribution characteristics when the light emitted from the light source by the white LED is passed through the lens using the obtained light source device. As is clear from FIG. 8, there is a luminous intensity peak in the vicinity of ± 45 °, which is 0.97 times the luminous intensity at a radiation angle of 0 °, which is less than this. This indicates that the light source device has a bright central portion when a planar irradiation object is irradiated. Moreover, the ratio of the light emitted from the front irradiated body side after passing through the lens among the light emitted from the white LED is 62%, which is too insufficient as the characteristics of the light source device for uniform illumination. .
From the results of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Example 1, it was found that a lens for obtaining a light source device capable of substantially uniform illumination must be within the scope of the present invention.

FIG. 9 shows the configuration of Example 4 using polycarbonate having a refractive index of 1.59 for the d line instead of the silicone resin used as the lens material in Example 1. Table 5 shows optical characteristics of the lens as shown in FIG. In addition, the LED light source, the wavelength of the light source used, the aspherical formula, and the like are the same as those in the first embodiment.
The maximum diameter D of the light emission window of the LED light source is 2.4 mm. The maximum diameter of the lens is φ6, and the maximum height is 1.44 mm. When these conditions are applied to the above (formula 1), | r1 | = 0.5 and D / 2 = 1.2, so the condition | r1 <D / 2 is satisfied. When applied to the (formula 2), | r1 | = 0.5 and | r2 | = 6.0, and therefore the condition | r1 | <| r2 | is satisfied. When applied to the above (Equation 3), the incident effective aperture diameter CA1 on the light source side of the lens is 2.5, which satisfies the condition of D <CA1 <D × 1.5. Since the shape is also as described above, the conditions of the lens of the present invention are satisfied.
FIG. 10 shows a simulated graph of light distribution characteristics when light emitted from the light source by the white LED is passed through the lens using the obtained light source device. As is clear from FIG. 10, there is a peak of luminous intensity around ± 55 ° and ± 75, and the magnitude is about three times the luminous intensity at an emission angle of 0 °. The light emitted from the white LED passes through the lens. Thereafter, the ratio of light emitted from the front irradiated body side was 76%. From this, it was found that it is suitable for compact uniform illumination. From the results of Examples 1 to 4, it was found that a silicone resin having a refractive index of 1.41 to 1.59 or a transparent resin containing polycarbonate is suitable as the lens material.
