測定されたトナーKat/KbtはRH15%で0.94であり、測定されたキャリアKac/KbcはRH15%で0.44である。RH85%で、測定されたトナーKat/Kbtは1.16であり、測定されたキャリアKac/Kbcは0.75である。これらの数字をルイス酸−塩基のRH比に当てはめると、0.4という値が返った。この現像剤に関して、RH15%での電荷は−5.2であり、RH85%で電荷は−1.7である。これらの数字を帯電RH比に当てはめると、0.7という値が返った。しかし、ルイス酸塩基RH比は約0.2未満という要件に適わず、帯電RH比は約0.33未満という要件に適わない。従って、予測モデルは適用できない。一般に、摩擦帯電が15μC/g未満であれば、印刷物上のバックグラウンドは許容し難くなる。さらに、遊離したトナーも、電子写真プリンタの他の部分の汚染をもたらすトナークラウドまたはエアゾールを作り出す現像剤から揮散され得る。
Claims (1)
- 少なくともトナーとキャリアとを含む二成分現像剤において許容されるRH感受性性能を予測する方法であって、
候補トナーを選択する工程と、
候補キャリアを選択する工程と、
前記候補トナーおよび前記候補キャリアに対するルイス酸定数およびルイス塩基定数を決定する工程と、
次の方程式:[[ln[(Kat/Kbt)/(Kac/Kbc)]15% RH]−[ln[(Kat/Kbt)/(Kac/Kbc)]85% RH]]/[ln[(Kat/Kbt)/(Kac/Kbc)]15% RH]
ここで、Katは前記候補トナーのルイス酸定数、Kbtは前記候補トナーのルイス塩基定数、Kacは前記候補キャリアのルイス酸定数、Kbcは前記候補キャリアのルイス塩基定数、15% RHは10℃,RH15%の条件、85% RHは28℃,RH85%の条件をそれぞれ示し、
を適用してルイス酸−塩基のRH比を算出する工程と、
を含み、
算出した前記ルイス酸−塩基のRH比が0.2未満であれば、前記トナーおよび前記キャリアから得られる現像剤において許容されるRH感受性性能であることが予測される、方法。
