Claims (20)
- 複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトと複数のデータ・セグメントとを格納するように構成されるバックアップ媒体に結合され、各データ・オブジェクトがそれぞれ前記複数のデータ・セグメントのうちの1つ又は複数を参照する第1のホストと、
データ・エンティティを特定する書き込み要求を前記第1のホストへ送るように構成され、前記データ・エンティティが、前記複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトのうちの第1のデータ・オブジェクトから参照されるデータ・セグメントを含み、
前記データ・エンティティに対する変更を示すデータ変更を、前記第1のホストへ送るように構成される
第2のホストとを備える、コンピュータ・システムであって、
前記第1のホストが、前記書き込み要求に応答して、
前記データ・エンティティのコピーを再格納し、
前記第1のデータ・オブジェクトから参照される前記データ・セグメントを参照する第2のデータ・オブジェクトを作成するように構成され、
前記第1のホストがさらに、
データを前記コピーに追加する、又はデータ・セグメントの一部分を前記コピーから削除するデータ変更の受取りに応答して、1つ又は複数のデータ・セグメント参照を前記第2のデータ・オブジェクトに追加し、
データ変更が、データ・セグメントのすべてを前記コピーから削除する場合、データ・セグメント参照を前記第2のデータ・オブジェクトから取り除くように構成されるシステム。 - 前記バックアップ媒体が、単一インスタンスのバックアップ・データを含む請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトについて記述しているメタデータを格納するように構成されるカタログをさらに備える請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第2のホストがさらに、前記バックアップ媒体に、仮想ファイル・システムのインターフェースを介してアクセスするように構成される請求項3に記載のシステム。
- 前記仮想ファイル・システムのインターフェースが、前記第2のホストがデータ・オブジェクトを前記バックアップ媒体に書き込むことが可能になるように構成される請求項4に記載のシステム。
- 前記仮想ファイル・システムのインターフェースが、前記第2のホストがバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトの複数のバージョンを作成し、それを前記バックアップ媒体に格納することが可能になるように構成される請求項4に記載のシステム。
- 前記カタログがさらに、前記複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトの複数のバージョンを含んだブランチについて記述しているメタデータを格納するように構成される請求項6に記載のシステム。
- バックアップ・データにアクセスする方法であって、
複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトと複数のデータ・セグメントとをバックアップ媒体に格納するステップであってし、各データ・オブジェクトがそれぞれ前記複数のデータ・セグメントのうちの1つ又は複数を参照する、前記格納するステップと、
データ・エンティティを特定する書き込み要求を受け取るステップであって、前記データ・エンティティが、前記複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトのうちの第1のデータ・オブジェクトから参照されるデータ・セグメントを含む、前記受け取るステップと、
前記書き込み要求に応答して、前記データ・エンティティのコピーを再格納し、かつ、前記第1のデータ・オブジェクトから参照される前記データ・セグメントを参照する第2のデータ・オブジェクトを作成するステップと、
前記データ・エンティティに対する変更を示すデータ変更を受け取るステップと、
データを前記コピーに追加する、又はデータ・セグメントの一部分を前記コピーから削除するデータ変更の受取りに応答して、1つ又は複数のデータ・セグメント参照を前記第2のデータ・オブジェクトに追加するステップと、
データ変更が、データ・セグメントのすべてを前記コピーから削除すると、データ・セグメント参照を前記第2のデータ・オブジェクトから取り除くステップとを含む方法。 - 前記バックアップ媒体が、単一インスタンスのバックアップ・データを含む請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトについて記述しているメタデータをカタログに格納するステップをさらに含む請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記バックアップ媒体に、仮想ファイル・システムのインターフェースを介してアクセスするステップをさらに含む請求項10に記載の方法。
- データ・オブジェクトを前記バックアップ媒体に、前記仮想ファイル・システムのインターフェースを介して書き込むステップをさらに含む請求項11に記載の方法。

前記データ・エンティティに対する変更を示すデータ変更を受け取り、
データを前記コピーに追加する、又はデータ・セグメントの一部分を前記コピーから削除するデータ変更の受取りに応答して、1つ又は複数のデータ・セグメント参照を前記第2のデータ・オブジェクトに追加し、
データ変更が、データ・セグメントのすべてを前記コピーから削除すると、データ・セグメント参照を前記第2のデータ・オブジェクトから取り除く、
プロセッサによって実行可能なコンピュータ命令を格納する複数のコンピュータ読み取り可能媒体。 - 前記バックアップ媒体が、単一インスタンスのバックアップ・データを含む請求項15に記載のコンピュータ読み取り可能媒体。
- 前記命令がさらに、前記複数のバックアップ・データ・オブジェクトについて記載しているメタデータを、カタログに格納することが実行可能である請求項15に記載のコンピュータ読み取り可能媒体。
