Description
一般に、該アルミナ水和物粒状物は、不純物を除いて、次の式に従う水和アルミナを含む:
Al(OH)aOb、式中 0≦a≦3、b=(3−a)/2
特別な実施態様において、1≦a≦2. 例として、a=0のとき、該式はアルミナ(Al2O3)に相当する。一般に、該アルミナ水和物粒状材料は、約1〜約38重量%、例えば約15〜約38重量%、の水分含有量を持つ。
Al(OH)aOb、式中 0≦a≦3、b=(3−a)/2
において、aがほぼ1のとき、該アルミナ水和物材料はベーマイトに対応する。より一般的に、「ベーマイト」という用語は、ここにおいて、典型的にAl2O3・H2Oであって水分含有量が15重量%程度である鉱物ベーマイト、及び、水分含有量が15%より多い、例えば20〜38重量%である、擬似ベーマイト、を含むアルミナ水和物を示すのに用いられる。そのものとして、「ベーマイト」という用語は、15〜38重量%、例えば15〜30重量%の水分含有量を持つアルミナ水和物を示すのに用いられるであろう。ベーマイト(擬似ベーマイトを含む)は、特別な同定可能な結晶構造、従って独特のX線回折パターン、を持ち、それにより他の水和アルミナ類を含む他のアルミナ性材料から区別されることが注目される。
種結晶プロセスを経て形成されたアルミナ水和物粒子は、下記のような処理されたアルミナ水和物凝集体とするのに特に適する。そのような種結晶加工は有利に望ましい粒子形態を提供出来、そのようなプロセスにより形成された粒子は、現場で(in situ)それらが形成された溶液のような溶液からそれらを除去すること無しに更に処理され得る。
特別な実施態様において、該アルミナ水和物粒状物は、例えば該アルミナ水和物粒状物を無機被覆剤で被覆することにより、更に処理され得、一般に、被覆されたアルミナ水和物粒子の粒子凝集体が得られる。特に、該アルミナ水和物粒状物は、金属酸化物のようなセラミック酸化物で被覆され得る。例えば、該アルミナ水和物粒状物は、例えばシリカ、酸化錫、酸化バナジウム、酸化タングステン、酸化マンガン、酸化アンチモン、酸化ニオブ、酸化モリブデン、又はそれらの任意の組み合わせ、のような金属酸化物で被覆され得る。ある模範的な実施態様において、該金属酸化物は、約6.0より大きくない、例えば約5.0より大きくない、又は約3.0より大きくない等電点を持つ金属酸化物から選ばれ得る。更に、該金属酸化物は、例えばナトリウム又はカリウムの酸化された水溶性アニオンを形成する金属を含む塩基性前駆体を持ち得る。更に、該金属酸化物は、実質的に水不溶性であり得る。特別の例において、該被覆は、例えば種結晶から得られたアルミナ性材料を含むコロイドアルミナ性懸濁液を使用して形成され得る。ある模範的な実施態様において、該アルミナ水和物粒状物はシリカで被覆され得る。
もう1つの例において、該処理されたアルミナ水和物材料は、遠心分離により洗浄され得、又はイオン交換により処理され得る。
ある特別な実施態様において、該シリカ被覆アルミナ水和物材料はポリマーマトリックス中に分散され得る。ある特別な実施態様において、該ポリマーマトリックスは弾性ポリマーを含む。弾性ポリマーは、中程度に(moderately)形くずれさせる(deform)(引張る、捩る(twist)、つぐむ(spindle)、切り裂く(mutilate)、等)と、典型的には元の形に戻る(spring back)ポリマーである。1つの模範的なエラストマーは、軽度に架橋させた天然ゴムである。もう1つの模範的な弾性ポリマーは、ポリオレフィン、ポリアミド、ポリウレタン、ポリスチレン、ジエン、シリコーン、フッ素系エラストマー、及びそれらのコーポリマー、ブロックコーポリマー、又はブレンドを含む。模範的なシリコーンは液体シリコーンゴム(LSR)又は高コンシステンシーゴム(HCR)を含み得る。弾性材料として配合され得る具体的なポリマーは、アクリロニトリルブタジエン スチレン(ABS)、エチレン プロピレン ヂエン モノマー ゴム(EPDM)、フッ素系エラストマー、ポリカプロラクタム(ナイロン6)、ニトリル ブタジエン ゴム(NBR)、又はそれらの任意の組み合わせ、を含む。
ある特別な実施態様において、該処理されたアルミナ水和物材料はインクジェット紙塗膜中に分散され得る。該インクジェット紙塗膜はポリビニルアルコール、ポリマー、又はそれらの適切な組み合わせを含み得る。ある特別な実施態様において、該塗膜は紙基材の少なくとも1面に配置され得る。該インクジェット紙塗膜は高いインク吸収速度、即ち速い乾燥時間、及び該紙基材を膨潤させない像性能(image performance)を提供し得る。該処理されたアルミナ水和物を含む複合材料の特別な実施態様は高度に多孔性の構造中にインクを吸収し得る。特に、高い水銀累積細孔容積指数を示す処理されたアルミナ水和物粒子は、インクのブリードを有利に妨げ得る。
実施例1
市販のアルミナ水和物粒状物とシリカとから、比較試料がつくられる。これら比較試料は実施例3に示されるように、多孔度、表面積、及び圧縮強さについて試験され、処理されたアルミナ水和物試料と比較される。
更に、実施例1の試料と比較した試験のため、処理されたアルミナ水和物について試料が調製される。
好ましくは約9〜9.5に保持するため、残りの珪酸ナトリウムに同時に添加される。該添加の後、該懸濁液は、攪拌速度を800〜1600rpmの範囲、好ましくは1200rpm程度、として30分攪拌される。該温度は81-82℃程度である。硫酸は、該pHを6より小、好ましくは5〜6に下げるように該懸濁液に添加される。
該試料は、細孔容積、充填密度、及び圧縮下容積につき試験される。特に、該試料は、100psi及び500psiにおける圧縮容積比、水銀累積細孔容積指数、水銀累積細孔容積、BET累積細孔容積、BET表面積、弛み充填密度(LPD)、及び等電点につき試験される。
試料配合物はエラストマー樹脂と粒状物試料を用いて調製される。
例えば、配合物1は、カーボンブラックとシリカを充填した乗用車用タイヤのための典型的な配合を基にして調製される。Banbury型回転翼を備えたB350混合ヘッドを持つBrabender PL2000 サイズミキサー(size mixer)が、該配合を行うのに用いられる。混合室は約380mlを持ち、0.7の充填率(fill factor)(266ml)で用いられる。循環油は、80rpmの回転翼速度を用いて約60℃に加熱される。該ミキサーにはポリマー混合物の最初の半分が添加される。
配合物3は、該充填剤が試料2の粒状物から分別される他は、配合物1について記載したようにして調製される。
配合物4は、該充填剤が試料7の粒状物から分別される他は、配合物1について記載したようにして調製される。
配合物4は、該充填剤が試料7の粒状物から分別される他は、配合物1について記載したようにして調製される。
配合物5は、該充填剤が試料9の粒状物から分別される他は、配合物1について記載したようにして調製される。
配合物6は、該充填剤が試料12の粒状物から分別される他は、配合物1について記載したようにして調製される。
Claims (12)
- ポリマーマトリックス;及び
金属酸化物被覆アルミナ水和物を含み、少なくとも約3.0の幾何学的アスペクト比を持つ粒子を含む凝結体を含み、
該凝結体は少なくとも約6.0cc/ccの500psi圧縮容積比および少なくとも90%の分散性指数を持つ、
複合材料。 - 少なくとも94%の分散性指数を持つ、請求項1に記載の複合材料。
- 該、金属酸化物被覆アルミナ水和物が、約6.0より大きくない等電点(IEP)を持つ金属酸化物を含む、請求項1または2に記載の複合材料。
- 該金属酸化物がシリカである、請求項3に記載の複合材料。
- 該、金属酸化物被覆アルミナ水和物が、約10〜約50重量%のシリカを含む、請求項4に記載の複合材料。
- 該アルミナ水和物が、種結晶から形成されたアルミナ水和物である、請求項1〜5の何れか1項に記載の複合材料。
- 該アルミナ水和物が、約30nm〜約1000nmの平均粒子径を持つ、請求項1〜6の何れか1項に記載の複合材料。
- 該凝結体が、少なくとも約300m2/ccのBET表面積を持つ、請求項1〜7の何れか1項に記載の複合材料。
- 該凝結体が、少なくとも約0.3cc/gのBET累積細孔容積を持つ、請求項1〜8の何れか1項に記載の複合材料。
- 該ポリマーマトリックスがエラストマーである、請求項1〜9の何れか1項に記載の複合材料。
- 金属酸化物被覆アルミナ水和物を含み、少なくとも約3.0の幾何学的アスペクト比を持つ粒子を含む凝結体を含み、該凝結体は少なくとも約90%の分散性指数を持つ、粒状材料。
- 分散性指数が少なくとも約94%である請求項11に記載の粒状材料。
