Description
The present invention relates to an electric power steering apparatus that assists steering by an operation member such as a steering wheel with torque generated by an electric motor.
Conventionally, a torque sensor for detecting a steering torque has been indispensable for such control.
However, since this torque sensor is used exclusively for steering control, it is preferable if it can be omitted in order to reduce the cost of the electric power steering device and hence the cost of the entire vehicle.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide an electric power steering device that can give an appropriate steering assist force to a steering mechanism without using a torque sensor.
In order to achieve the above object, the invention according to claim 1 is directed to applying a steering assist force from the electric motor (M) to the steering mechanism (1) having the rack shaft (2) for transmitting the steering force to the steering wheel (W). An electric power steering device for providing a steering angle detecting means (11) for detecting a steering angle, a vehicle speed detecting means (12) for detecting a vehicle speed of a vehicle on which the electric power steering device is mounted, and the steering angle detection Target value calculating means for calculating a target value of steering torque or rack axial force based on a vehicle model according to the steering angle detected by the means and the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed detecting means, and acting on the rack shaft Feedback control using an axial force sensor for detecting an axial force to be detected, a target value calculated by the target value calculation means, and a detected axial force detected by the axial force sensor Accordingly, viewed contains a motor drive control means for driving and controlling the electric motor, the motor drive control means, detects the axial force detected by said force sensor is a target value calculated by the target value computing unit The electric power steering apparatus is characterized in that the electric motor is feedback-controlled so as to approach . The alphanumeric characters in parentheses indicate corresponding components in the embodiments described later.
According to this configuration, using the steering angle and the vehicle speed, the target value of the steering torque or rack axial force based on the vehicle model (mathematical model of the vehicle in which the electric power steering device is mounted) is calculated, and the target value The electric motor is driven and controlled by footback control using the detected axial force detected by the axial force sensor . Since the rack axial force is proportional to the steering force applied to the operation member by the driver, feedback control of the electric motor using the detected value of the rack axial force is substantially the same as conventional control using steering torque. Steering assistance is possible.
In the present invention, since it is not necessary to detect the steering torque, it is possible to perform appropriate steering assistance without using a torque sensor, thereby reducing the cost of the electric power steering device, and thus the vehicle. This can contribute to overall cost reduction.
Since the output of the steering angle detection means is also used for vehicle behavior stabilization control, for example, the provision of the steering angle detection means does not necessarily lead to an increase in the cost of the entire vehicle.
Further, the vehicle speed detecting means is provided with a torque sensor in a conventional electric power steering apparatus. In addition, for example, since vehicle speed information is used in the control of the vehicle drive system and the braking system and in the car navigation process, the provision of the vehicle speed detection means does not necessarily lead to an increase in the cost of the entire vehicle.
The steering angle detection means may detect an operation angle of an operation member (for example, a steering wheel) for steering the vehicle, or detect a steering angle of a steering wheel (for example, a rack shaft). For detecting displacement).
The target value calculating means, steering angle and the vehicle speed by applying the vehicle model, may be of even you calculate the target value of the steering torque or the rack axial force.
It is preferable that parameters of the vehicle model are tuned in advance according to a vehicle on which the electric power steering apparatus is mounted.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a conceptual diagram for explaining the configuration of an electric power steering apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. This electric power steering device is configured to transmit the torque generated by the electric motor M as a steering assist force to the steering mechanism 1 for turning the steering wheels W (for example, front left and right wheels) of the vehicle. Yes. The steering mechanism 1 is of a rack and pinion type including a
Each end of the pair of tie rods 6 is coupled to both ends of the
In order to give an appropriate steering assist force to the steering mechanism 1, a controller (ECU: electronic control unit) 10 for controlling the electric motor M is provided. The
FIG. 2 is a block diagram for explaining the electrical configuration of the
The
The axial force estimated
The axial force estimated
The
As shown in FIG. 3, the assist characteristic is determined such that the target current value Im increases as the absolute value of the axial force estimated value Y increases, and the target current value Im decreases as the vehicle speed V increases. As a result, the greater the axial force acting on the
When the estimated axial force value Y takes a value within the predetermined dead zone range Δ, the target current value Im is held at zero, and the electric motor M is unnecessarily driven within a predetermined play area near the neutral position. Can be prevented. In addition, an upper limit value of the target current value Im is determined for each vehicle speed range, and the target current value Im is monotonous according to an increase in the absolute value of the estimated axial force Y within a range equal to or lower than the upper limit value. It is determined to increase.
The
The
In this manner, the electric motor M can be controlled based on the estimated axial force value Y generated using the steering angle θ and the vehicle speed V, and an appropriate steering assist force can be applied to the steering mechanism 1. That is, the electric motor M can be appropriately controlled without providing a torque sensor for detecting the steering torque. As a result, the cost of the electric power steering apparatus can be reduced, and as a result, the cost of the entire vehicle can be reduced.

From these equations, a state equation of the following equation (10) and an output equation of the following equation (11) are obtained.
Further, assuming that there is no substantial dynamic characteristic (delay) in the displacement of the tie rod 6 with respect to the steering angle input from the steering wheel 5, the steering system is treated as a rigid body, and the actual steering of the front wheels 30 (steering wheels W) with respect to the steering angle θ. Assume that the relationship of the angle δ f is as shown in the following equation (12).

Accordingly, the actual steering angle δ f of the
Of course, the constants (parameters) in the mathematical expression representing the vehicle model are adjusted so as to be adapted to the vehicle on which the electric power steering apparatus is mounted.

FIG. 9 also shows actual characteristics obtained by actually measuring the axial force acting on the
From FIG. 9, the estimated axial force value calculated based on the vehicle model is in good agreement with the actually measured value, and the steering assist control (drive control of the electric motor M) using this estimated axial force value is appropriate. I understand that there is.
As shown by a two-dot chain line in FIG. 2, a
Further, in the above-described configuration , the target current value Im is fixed to the upper limit value determined in each vehicle speed range in the range where the absolute value of the axial force estimation value is equal to or greater than a predetermined value. When the steering angle θ is greater than or equal to a certain threshold value, the target current value Im may be limited to the upper limit value for each vehicle speed range. In the vehicle model described above, the tire model is a linear model, so that the axial force estimation value increases as the steering angle increases. However, in an actual tire, the cornering force is saturated with respect to the tire side slip angle. Therefore, a reasonable assist characteristic can be realized by limiting the steering assist force (target current value) according to the steering angle θ so as to correspond to the saturation characteristic.
Furthermore, it is good also as a structure which provides the road surface state detection means which detects a road surface state, and changes an axial-force estimated value according to a road surface state. As the road surface state detection means, for example, one including an axial force sensor for detecting an axial force acting on the
FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating a variation in frequency characteristics depending on the type of tire. FIG. 10 shows the axial force Y with respect to the steering angle θ using two types of tires of “195/60 R15 (cross-sectional width / flattening tire structure (R is radial) rim diameter)” and “175/70 R14”. FIG. 10A is a Bode diagram showing frequency characteristics of (actually measured values), FIG. 10A shows gain characteristics, and FIG. 10B shows phase characteristics.
It can be seen from FIG. 10 that the relationship between the axial force and the steering angle varies depending on the type of tire. From this result, it is understood that an appropriate axial force estimated value can be calculated by changing the axial force estimated value according to the type of tire.
When an axial force sensor is provided for detecting the road surface condition, feedback control based on the output of the axial force sensor may be performed. That is, the target steering torque or the target axial force may be calculated based on the steering angle or the like, and feedback control based on the output of the axial force sensor may be performed so that the target steering torque or the target axial force is obtained. More specifically, as shown in FIG. 11, by using a vehicle model, a target axial force Yo corresponding to the steering angle θ and the vehicle speed V is obtained, and this target axial force Yo and the detected axial force Yd by the axial force sensor are obtained. The electric motor M may be feedback controlled based on the proportional integral value of the deviation. Thereby, the steering torque control performance can be improved.
Since an inexpensive sensor such as a strain gauge can be used as the axial force sensor, the cost can be reduced as compared with the case where a torque sensor is used. When using a torque sensor, it is necessary to detect a twist between the upper and lower sides of the torsion bar by interposing a torsion bar on the steering shaft. However, if an axial force sensor is used without the torque sensor, The spring element such as the torsion bar can be eliminated from the torque transmission system, thereby improving the controllability.
In the configuration shown in FIG. 2, the example in which the target current value is the drive target value has been described. However, the same control may be performed using the target voltage value, the target assist torque, or the target axial force as the drive target value. .
In addition, various design changes can be made within the scope of matters described in the claims.
