Description
The present invention relates to a wheel bearing device in which a wheel of a vehicle such as an automobile is rotatably supported with respect to a vehicle body and a method for manufacturing the same, and more particularly to a wheel with improved strength and durability of a hub wheel under rotating bending conditions. The present invention relates to a bearing device and a manufacturing method thereof.
There are two types of wheel bearing devices for automobiles, one for driven wheels and one for driving wheels, and there are various types according to the respective applications. For example, the conventional wheel bearing for driving wheels shown in FIG. In the apparatus, an
In particular, in the
Against this background, the present applicant has already proposed a wheel bearing device that can reduce the weight and increase the strength of the
However, in such a conventional wheel bearing device, the
In order to solve such a problem, the applicant of the present application is a wheel bearing device in which a wheel mounting flange is integrally formed on either the outer member or the inner member, and at least the outer member having the wheel mounting flange. Alternatively, a technique in which the inner member is tempered is proposed (Patent Document 2), but a technique that more reliably improves the strength and durability of the hub wheel under a rotating bending condition is required.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and without changing the shape and dimensions of the wheel mounting flange, and without deteriorating the surface runout, while reducing the weight while rotating and bending conditions It is an object of the present invention to provide a wheel bearing device in which the strength and durability of the hub wheel are further improved and a method for manufacturing the same.
The wheel bearing device of the present invention includes an outer member having a double row outer rolling surface on an inner periphery, and an inner member having a double row inner rolling surface facing the double row outer rolling surface. A double-row rolling element that is movably accommodated between the rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member, and a wheel mounting flange is integrated with either the outer member or the inner member. in the wheel bearing apparatus formed, it is that the side members have a least said wheel mounting flange has been treated after forging temper, the inner member comprises a wheel hub, is the refining process of the hub wheel Serrations are formed on the inner periphery, shot peening is applied to the serrations, and the rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member are quenched and hardened to a predetermined surface hardness. .
According to this configuration, at least the inner side member that having a wheel mounting flange, treated forged after tempering, is subjected and to regulate the grain size, for example, in No. 8 or more, the shot peening on the inner diameter portion of the hub wheel In addition, the following effects can be achieved by quenching and hardening the rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member to a predetermined surface hardness. Ensuring the desired bearing life and increasing the strength and durability against rotational bending fatigue without changing the shape and dimensions of the wheel mounting flange and the wall thickness of the shaft, with the existing processing method and existing equipment. Can do. The said crystal grain size is synonymous with the size of the crystal grain represented by the microscope observation cross section, and this is represented by the crystal grain size number calculated | required by the comparison method or the cutting method. The crystal grain size number is defined in Japanese Industrial Standard (abbreviation JIS).
In the present invention, the inner member includes the hub wheel having a wheel mounting flange and an inner ring press-fitted into the hub wheel, and one outer rolling surface of the outer row rolling surfaces of the outer member. An inner rolling surface facing the running surface may be directly formed on the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel, and an inner rolling surface facing the other outer rolling surface may be formed on the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring. In this case, the wheel bearing device can be reduced in size and weight, and the strength and durability of the hub wheel can be increased compared to the conventional one by performing shot peening on the inner diameter portion of the hub wheel.
In this invention, it is preferable to set the surface hardness of the base portion on the outboard side of the wheel mounting flange to 20 HRC or more and 35 HRC or less. In this case, workability such as cutting is improved and heat treatment deformation is not accompanied, so that deterioration in surface runout accuracy of the brake rotor mounting surface of the wheel mounting flange due to heat treatment deformation can be prevented. Further, it is possible to prevent the surface hardness of the bolt hole into which the hub bolt is press-fitted close to the surface hardness of the hub bolt, and the serration of the hub bolt is crushed and the fixing force is reduced.
In this invention, the inboard side end portion of the hub wheel is plastically deformed radially outward to form a crimped portion, and the inner ring is fixed to the hub wheel in the axial direction by the crimped portion. A so-called self-retain structure may be adopted. In this case, there is no need to control the preload by tightening firmly with a nut or the like as in the prior art, so that the ease of incorporation into the vehicle can be simplified and the preload can be maintained for a long time. Can do.
In this invention, it is preferable to set the surface hardness of the caulking portion to 20 HRC or more and 25 HRC or less by tempering. In this case, it is possible to suppress the hardness variation of the crimped portion as compared with a conventional unheated portion after forging as in the conventional case, the workability is not deteriorated, and micro cracks are generated on the surface by plastic working. There is no fear, and the reliability is further improved in terms of quality.
In this invention, seals are attached to both end portions of the outer member, and a seal land portion in which the seal lip of the seal on the outboard side is in sliding contact is formed on the inboard side root portion of the wheel mounting flange, and It is preferable that the surface hardness of the seal land portion is 54 HRC or more and 64 HRC or less. In this case, not only the wear resistance is improved, but also a sufficient mechanical strength against the rotational bending load applied to the wheel mounting flange is increased, and the strength and durability of the hub wheel are further improved.
In the present invention, the inner member or the outer member is preferably made of medium carbon steel containing 0.40 wt% or more and 0.80 wt% or less of carbon. In this case, it is advantageous in terms of ease of forging, machinability, heat treatment properties, and economic efficiency, and is particularly suitable for induction hardening and the like.
Further, the manufacturing method of the wheel bearing device of the present invention includes an outer member having a double row outer rolling surface on the inner periphery, and a double row inner rolling surface facing the outer rolling surface of the double row. An inner member, and a double row rolling element that is movably accommodated between the rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member, and either the outer member or the inner member. the method of manufacturing a wheel bearing device formed integrally with the wheel mounting flange, at least said inwardly member that having a wheel mounting flange treated forged after tempering, the inner member comprises a wheel hub, the hub wheel A serration is formed on the tempered inner periphery of the heat treatment, shot peening is applied to the serration, and the respective rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member are quenched and hardened to a predetermined surface hardness. Features.
With this manufacturing method, while ensuring the desired bearing life, the strength against rotational bending fatigue without changing the shape and dimensions of the wheel mounting flange and the wall thickness of the shaft, with the existing processing method and existing equipment, Durability can be increased.
Wheel support bearing assembly of the present invention, at least the inner side member that having a wheel mounting flange, treated forged after tempering, and to regulate the grain size, for example, in No. 8 above, wherein the tempering treatment of the hub Serrations are formed on the inner periphery, and shot peening is applied to the serrations, and the respective rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member are quenched and hardened to a predetermined surface hardness. Play. Ensuring the desired bearing life and increasing the strength and durability against rotational bending fatigue without changing the shape and dimensions of the wheel mounting flange and the wall thickness of the shaft, with the existing processing method and existing equipment. Can do. Therefore, without changing the shape and dimensions of the wheel mounting flange and without deteriorating the surface runout, the hub ring is stronger and more durable than conventional ones while reducing weight. Thus, it is possible to obtain a wheel bearing device that is more reliably improved.

In the following description, the side closer to the outer side of the vehicle when assembled to the vehicle is referred to as the outboard side (left side in the drawing), and the side closer to the center is referred to as the inboard side (right side in the drawing). The following description also includes a description of a method for manufacturing a wheel bearing device.
This wheel bearing device is for a drive wheel, and the

In this wheel bearing device, the
In the present embodiment, the
Although the mechanical strength is improved by increasing the surface hardness, the surface hardness after the tempering treatment is set to 20 HRC or more and 35 HRC or less. This is because if the surface hardness is set to exceed 35 HRC, the cutting performance is reduced due to the increased hardness and the tool and broach life is shortened, and the surface runout accuracy of the brake
Furthermore, when the above-described
In this way, the
The shot peening treatment SP referred to here is a cold shot in which a hard small sphere called a shot having a particle size of about 10 μm to 1.3 mm is accelerated and jetted by a projection device (not shown) to collide with a workpiece or a part at high speed. This is a processing method, and a surface layer portion of a part to be processed or a part is work hardened to generate a residual compressive stress. Recently, there are WPC (Wide Peening Cleaning) processing and fine particle peening (FPP), which are distinguished from shot peening processing, but these WPC processing and fine particle peening are equivalent to shot peening processing in a broad sense. It is assumed that a shot peening process and such a processing method are used.
For example, a shot nozzle is arranged on the inboard side inner diameter surface of the
The shot peening treatment part of the inner diameter part of the hub ring can determine the surface layer part residual compressive stress using the hardness of the surface layer part and the X-ray residual stress measuring device, and the surface layer part residual compressive stress should be 50 MPa or more and 500 MPa or less. preferable.
If the surface layer residual compressive stress is less than 50 MPa, the effect of improving fatigue strength and the effect of suppressing the occurrence of fretting damage are small, so 50 MPa or more is required. In order to further improve the fatigue strength and suppress the occurrence of fretting damage, the surface layer residual compressive stress is preferably 100 MPa or more. On the other hand, when the surface layer residual compressive stress exceeds 500 MPa, other factors at the time of applying the compressive stress, for example, work hardening is remarkable and cracks are likely to occur. Therefore, the surface layer residual compressive stress is preferably 500 MPa or less. The same can be said for the portion of the outer diameter portion where the hardened layer is formed.
In other words, in this embodiment, the effect of improving fatigue strength and the effect of suppressing the occurrence of fretting damage can be enhanced by defining the residual compressive stress on the inner surface of the
In this way, the surface of the inner diameter surface is work-hardened and residual compressive stress is generated, so that the current processing method and existing equipment can be used without changing the shape and dimensions of the
The tempering process after forging of the
Further, the
On the other hand, the

FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of a wheel bearing device according to a second embodiment of the present invention. This embodiment is a so-called first-generation wheel bearing device. The same parts, the same parts, or the parts having the same functions as those of the above-described embodiments are denoted by the same reference numerals, and detailed description thereof is omitted.
The wheel bearing device includes a

In this wheel bearing device, the

This embodiment is a so-called third-generation wheel bearing device, and the same parts, parts, or parts having the same functions as those in the first and second embodiments described above are denoted by the same reference numerals and detailed description thereof.
