Description
Claims (11)
- 装置であって、
基体上の複数のセルであって、前記セルの各々が1ミリメートル以内の少なくとも1つの寸法を有し、媒質を保持するように構成され、前記セルの各々が、前記基体の表面の領域を側部で囲む壁と頂部開口部とを有する、複数のセル、及び
前記セルの前記壁と接触する気泡液層であって、前記気泡液層のバブルが界面活性剤を含む流動体壁を有し、前記バブルが前記媒質で満たされており、前記バブルが平均して少なくとも1分の期間にわたって前記セルの前記頂部開口部上に実質的に静止したままでいる、気泡液層
からなる装置。 - 請求項1の装置において、前記気泡液層の個々のバブルが前記セルの直径にほぼ等しい直径を有する装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記界面活性剤がイオン性界面活性剤分子からなる装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記界面活性剤が極性端及び非極性端を有する界面活性剤分子からなり、前記極性端が前記流動体と接触し、前記非極性端が前記気泡液内にある前記媒質と接触している装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、前記流動体壁が2層の界面活性剤分子からなり、各層が前記流動体と接触する前記界面活性剤分子の極性端、及び前記気泡液内にある前記媒質に接触する非極性端を有する装置。
- 請求項1の装置において、γが前記流動体の表面張力に等しく、dが前記セルの直径に等しいものとして、前記流動体内の前記媒質の圧力が4・γ/d以上である装置。
- 基体の表面上に配置された流動体の流動抵抗を制御することからなる装置の使用方法であって、
基体上の複数のセルに流動体を接触させるステップであって、前記セルの各々が1ミリメートル以内の少なくとも1つの寸法を有し、媒質を保持するように構成され、前記セルの各々が、前記基体の表面の領域を側部で囲む壁と頂部開口部とを有している、ステップ、及び
前記流動体内の界面活性剤及び媒質の量を調整して、それにより前記セルの前記壁と接触する気泡液層を形成する調整ステップであって、前記気泡液層のバブルが界面活性剤を含む流動体壁を有し、前記バブルが前記媒質で満たされており、前記バブルが平均して少なくとも1分の期間にわたって前記セルの前記頂部開口部上に実質的に静止したままでいる、ステップ
からなる方法。 - 請求項7の方法において、前記基体がチャネルを備え、前記複数のセルが前記チャネルの内部表面を構成する前記表面上にあり、前記気泡液層の形成が、前記流動体が前記気泡液層の介在しない前記セルに接触しているときと比べて、前記チャネルに適用される所定の圧力ヘッドに対して前記流動体が前記チャネルを速いレートで流れることを可能とする方法。
- 装置の製造方法であって、
基体上の複数のセルを形成するステップであって、前記セルの各々が1ミリメートル以内の少なくとも1つの寸法を有し、媒質を保持するように構成され、前記セルの各々が、前記基体の表面の領域を側部で囲む壁と頂部開口部とを有している、ステップ、
前記セルを流動体に接触させるステップ、及び
界面活性剤及び媒質を前記流動体に導入し、前記セルの前記壁と接触する気泡液層を形成するステップであって、前記気泡液層のバブルが前記界面活性剤を含む流動体壁を有し、前記バブルが前記媒質で満たされており、前記バブルが平均して少なくとも1分の期間にわたって前記セルの前記頂部開口部上に実質的に静止したままでいる、ステップ
からなる製造方法。 - 請求項9の製造方法において、前記媒質を導入するステップが、前記流動体に前記セル内の前記媒質の臨界圧力を超える所定量の前記媒質を溶解させるステップからなり、γが前記流動体の表面張力に等しく、dが前記セルの直径に等しいものとして、前記流動体内の前記媒質の圧力が4・γ/d以上である製造方法。
- 請求項7の方法において、前記装置が前記流動体中を移動するように構成された本体を含み、前記複数のセルが前記本体の外部表面を構成する前記表面上にあり、前記気泡液層の形成が、前記流動体が前記気泡液層の介在しない前記セルに接触しているときと比べて、前記本体に加えられた推進力に対して少ない前進抵抗で前記本体が前記流動体内を通過することを可能とする方法。
