【0001】
X=10^((n−1)/(253/3)−1)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a discharge lamp lighting device for dimming a discharge lamp so that light output changes according to a signal from a communication cable.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a PWM signal as a dimming signal is transmitted to a discharge lamp lighting device (ballast), and the discharge lamp is dimmed according to the on-duty.
[0003]
In recent years, mainly in Europe, as a lighting control system, a system (DALI system) for transmitting a serial signal to each discharge lamp lighting device and controlling it has been developed. In such a system, a serial signal receiving microcomputer (microcomputer) is required for a discharge lamp lighting device provided in a lighting fixture or the like.
[0004]
FIG. 8 shows a block diagram of this type of conventional system, and FIG. 9 shows a block diagram of the discharge lamp lighting device in FIG. The system of FIG. 8 is configured by connecting a plurality of discharge

[0015]
However, in such a circuit configuration, in order to increase the dimming stage, it is necessary to increase the number of step changes in the on-duty of the PWM signal. Since the clock frequency of the microcomputer is almost determined from the viewpoint of cost, the frequency of the PWM signal may be lowered in order to increase the number of on-duty steps. That is, it is sufficient to extend the time of one cycle of the PWM signal. When the frequency of the PWM signal is lowered, the number of steps of on-duty can be designed freely, and the setting of the optical output can be adjusted freely.
[0016]
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 9-180890 discloses a discharge lamp lighting device capable of blinking and dimming a discharge lamp only by changing the on-duty of a PWM signal.
[0017]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
With the conventional discharge lamp lighting device shown in FIG. 10, for example, when it is desired to change the dimming change level by approximating it to a logarithmic curve, the light output can be freely set even if the dimming change is slight. Therefore, the amount of change in one step of the change in the light output needs to be small, and therefore the number of steps of the dimming change needs to be increased over the entire dimming width. However, in order to reduce the PWM frequency, the CR time constant of the PWM / DC converter needs to be set longer.
[0018]
Therefore, even when it is desired to suddenly change the dimming level, the PWM signal from the microcomputer can be changed instantaneously, but the PWM signal is smoothed by the CR filter circuit to obtain a DC voltage as described above. In the DC converter, the DC voltage cannot be suddenly changed, and a signal is transmitted with a time delay determined by the CR time constant. For this reason, there has been a problem that if the light output change is performed many times, the light output cannot follow it.
[0019]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a discharge lamp lighting device that can increase the response speed of light output to a signal and finely change the light output.
[0020]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The invention described in
[0022]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the discharge lamp lighting device according to the first aspect, the narrower the dimming change width of the inverter , the higher the frequency of the PWM signal output from the microcomputer .
[0026]
In short, the present invention changes the frequency of the PWM signal according to the dimming width and dimming level of the inverter, or devises the change in duty while keeping the frequency of the PWM signal high, so that Increase the reaction speed of the output to change the light output finely.

In this case, for the inverters 12A, 12B, and 12C that can be output by the dimming step change defined by each DALI data, the frequency values of the PWM signals output from the microcomputers of various clock frequencies are as follows (Table 2).
[0035]
[Table 2]
[0036]
As can be seen from this (Table 2), when dimming according to the DALI specification, the inverter 12A needs to distinguish between 1 and 2 of the DALI data, so the light output ratio (the dimming ratio in the table). It is necessary to identify and output the difference of 0.003%, and the number of steps of (100−0.1) /0.003=36,091 is required between 0.1 and 100%. . On the other hand, when the microcomputer outputs a PWM signal with such a number of steps, the frequency of the PWM signal is 110 Hz when the clock frequency of the microcomputer is 4 MHz, 221 Hz when it is 8 MHz, and 16 MHz. Is 443 Hz. If such a high-speed microcomputer is used, the frequency of the PWM signal becomes high, and the problem of the time delay with respect to the dimming signal as described in the conventional example is going to be solved. Becomes higher. Usually, an inexpensive 4 MHz microcomputer is often used. For this reason, a 4 MHz microcomputer is suitable for the inverter 12A capable of dimming by 0.1 to 100%. In this case, PWM having a frequency of 110 Hz is suitable. A signal will be output.
[0037]
Similarly, in the inverter 12B capable of dimming by 0.5 to 100%, the number of steps is 7,178, and in the case of a 4 MHz microcomputer, a PWM signal having a frequency of 557 Hz is output. In the inverter 12C capable of dimming by 30 to 100%, the number of steps is 84, and in the case of a 4 MHz microcomputer, a PWM signal having a frequency of 47,575 Hz is output. The narrower the dimming range, the higher the frequency of the microcomputer PWM signal can be set.
[0038]
Therefore, when the power is turned on, the

Thereby, it is possible to obtain a discharge lamp lighting device that can cope with both a sudden change in light control level and a subtle change in light output.
That is, the discharge lamp lighting device according to the present embodiment changes the frequency of the PWM signal output from the micro computer in accordance with the dimming signal from the communication cable. Both changes in output can be handled. In addition, since the discharge lamp lighting device increases the frequency of the PWM signal output from the microcomputer as the output power increases in accordance with the dimming signal from the communication cable, for example, it is suitable for a sudden change in dimming level. It becomes possible.
[0050]
In the second embodiment, the frequency of the PWM signal is set to 110 Hz when the optical output is in the vicinity of 0.1%, the frequency of the PWM signal is set to 557 Hz in the vicinity of the optical output of 0.5%, and the light When the output is in the vicinity of 30%, the frequency of the PWM signal is set to 47,575 Hz. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, when the optical output is in the range of 0.1% ≦ X <0.5%. The frequency of the PWM signal is set to 110 Hz, the frequency of the PWM signal is set to 557 Hz when the optical output is within the range of 0.5% ≦ X <30%, and the optical output is within the range of 30% ≦ X ≦ 100% Then, the structure which sets the frequency of a PWM signal to 47,575 Hz may be sufficient.

When the on-duty is changed to 60%, the microcomputer 33 of the third embodiment keeps the frequency constant between the output of FIG. 7A and the output of FIG. With this control, it is possible to control a fine dimming curve according to a logarithmic curve as in the DALI system, and it is possible to speed up the response to the dimming signal by increasing the frequency of the PWM signal.

Further, since the frequency of the PWM signal output from the microcomputer is changed in accordance with the dimming change width of the inverter, the light output can be finely changed.

According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the discharge lamp lighting device according to the first aspect, the frequency of the PWM signal output from the microcomputer increases as the dimming change width of the inverter becomes narrower. The light output can be finely changed by increasing
