Description
The present invention relates to a waste heat utilization system.
In recent years, in addition to advances in electronic devices, the development of advanced information and communication networks has led to a significant increase in data centers with a large number of blade servers and storage servers that handle large amounts of data. Waste heat energy is also increasing.
In particular, in data centers, blade servers are generally equipped with multiple boards per rack to improve data processing capacity. In this blade server, the power consumption per rack is several kW or more and high power. It has become.
Along with such an increase in power consumption per rack, there are also increasing problems in the cooling technology for CPUs and the like that are heat sources. For example, usually in a server room installed in a large data center or building, a dedicated air conditioner is used to circulate cool air in the room, and this cool air is introduced into the server rack using a fan. However, since this method consumes a large amount of power to generate sufficient cold air, there are problems in terms of cost reduction and environmental problems.
Therefore, an adsorption refrigeration machine has attracted attention as a technology for recovering and reusing waste heat from electronic devices such as servers.
In the adsorption refrigerator, after the adsorption process for adsorbing the refrigerant to the adsorbent, the refrigerant is desorbed (desorbed) from the adsorbent by the heat of the heating fluid such as water that carries the waste heat in a process called desorption process. Let In this desorption process, the adsorbent absorbs heat to cool the heating fluid, and the electronic device and the like are cooled by the heated fluid after the cooling.
In the above adsorption step, the refrigerant put in the evaporator is evaporated and adsorbed by the adsorbent, but cold heat can be obtained by using the heat of vaporization when the refrigerant evaporates. Waste heat can be effectively utilized by supplying cold air into the room or directly into the rack.
And by repeating such an adsorption process and a desorption process, it becomes possible to perform recovery of waste heat and generation of cold heat continuously.
There are several combinations of adsorbents and refrigerants used in adsorption refrigerators.
For example, when the temperature of the adsorbent in the desorption process is about 70 to 90 ° C., silica gel or zeolite is used as the adsorbent, and water having a large evaporation heat is used as the refrigerant.
Other combinations include activated carbon-methanol and activated carbon-ammonia. Since these systems do not use water as a refrigerant, they can generate cold heat of about 0 ° C. and have a feature that the desorption temperature can be lower than that of silica gel. Then, the silica gel-water system is more advantageous.
Further, there is a combination in which activated carbon activated by activated alkali surface or the like and made hydrophilic is used as an adsorbent and water is used as a refrigerant.
In this way, by operating the adsorption refrigerator using waste heat, it is possible to effectively use the obtained cold energy for server room cooling and the like to save power.
There are various applications for such adsorption refrigerators. For example,
The simple principle of the adsorption refrigerator is disclosed in
By the way, when using waste heat from a server, etc., the temperature and total heat quantity of the heating fluid circulating between the server and the adsorption refrigeration machine usually fluctuate greatly with time due to load fluctuations of the server. It is.
For example, when heating fluid is circulated individually to each of a plurality of CPUs, they are merged and returned to the adsorption refrigeration machine, the temperature of the heating fluid also varies depending on the operating status of each CPU, and after the merged The temperature of the heated fluid varies with time.
However, if the temperature of the heating fluid becomes lower than the temperature required to desorb the refrigerant from the adsorbent as a result of such fluctuation, the refrigerant cannot be sufficiently desorbed by the heat of the heating fluid.
In this case, rather, the adsorbent is cooled by the heating fluid and its temperature is lowered, so that the recovered waste heat cannot be cooled. Furthermore, in this case, even if the temperature of the heating fluid rises again with the passage of time, it takes a certain amount of time for the adsorbent to be heated to the temperature necessary for desorption of the refrigerant. It becomes difficult to generate cold heat continuously in time, which causes a problem of deterioration in cooling performance.
An object of the present invention is to provide a waste heat utilization system that can recover waste heat continuously in time even if the temperature of a heated fluid fluctuates.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a first adsorbent that adsorbs the vapor of the first refrigerant and desorbs the first refrigerant by being heated to the first desorption temperature by the heat of the heating fluid. A first adsorption refrigeration machine having a plurality of adsorbers housed therein, and a second desorption lower than the first desorption temperature by heat of the heating fluid, while adsorbing vapor of the second refrigerant A second adsorption refrigerator having a plurality of adsorbers containing a second adsorbent that desorbs the second refrigerant by being heated to a temperature, and heat generated by a plurality of heating elements, A plurality of heat transport pipes transported on the heating fluid for each heating element, and the heating fluid flowing through the plurality of heat transport pipes, the first adsorption refrigerator and the second adsorption refrigerator A heating fluid supply unit that distributes and supplies the adsorbers to each of the adsorbers, and The temperature of the heating fluid supplied to the adsorber of the first adsorption refrigeration machine is higher than the temperature of the heating fluid supplied to the adsorber of the second adsorption refrigeration machine. A waste heat utilization system that distributes the heating fluid so as to be higher is also provided.
According to the present invention, the heating fluid is introduced into the first adsorption refrigerator having a high desorption temperature by the distribution of the heating fluid, so that the heating fluid is not distributed. When the desorption process is performed in the first adsorption refrigerator, the refrigerant is easily detached from the adsorbent.
On the other hand, since the desorption temperature of the second adsorption refrigerator is lower than that of the first adsorption refrigerator, even if a heated fluid having a low temperature is introduced by sorting, the desorption efficiency of the adsorbent is significantly reduced. There is nothing.
As a result, the waste heat can be recovered stably when viewed as the first and second adsorption refrigerators as a whole.
Hereinafter, an exhaust heat utilization system according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

(Configuration of adsorption refrigerator)
Next, the configuration of the first and second
FIG. 2 is a configuration diagram of these
The
Among these, the adsorbent 17 is accommodated in the first and
On the other hand, the
For example, in the open / closed state of the valve as shown in the figure, the adsorption process is performed in the
That is, in the
Although the temperature of the cooling
On the other hand, in the
Here, a temperature at which the refrigerant 18 is desorbed from the adsorbent 17 and the dryness D of the adsorbent 17 becomes a reference value D 0 , for example, 80% or more within a predetermined time is referred to as a desorption temperature.
The degree of dryness D is defined as M1 / M2 × 100, where M1 is the weight of the dried adsorbent M1, and M2 is the weight of the adsorbent in the desorption process. These values can be set according to the design of the adsorption refrigerator, such as the cooling water temperature and switching time, and are set to the most efficient values as the system.
Since the desorption temperature is determined from the reference value D 0 of the dryness of the adsorbent 17 as described above, even when the
In order to efficiently desorb the refrigerant 18 from the adsorbent 17 by heating with the
The desorption temperature is determined by the combination of the adsorbent 17 and the refrigerant 18.
For example, when silica gel is used as the adsorbent 17 and water is used as the refrigerant 18, the desorption temperature is about 70 ° C.
On the other hand, when activated carbon is used as the adsorbent 17 and methanol is used as the refrigerant 18, the desorption temperature is about 60 ° C.
On the other hand, a circulating
On the other hand, the vapor | steam of the refrigerant |
The temperature of the cooling
In such a series of processes, the refrigerant 18 is desorbed from the adsorbent 17 by the heat of the
Further, when the open / closed state of the
FIG. 3 is a configuration diagram showing a connection example of piping necessary for switching between such a desorption process and an adsorption process.
In this example, three-
When the switching direction of the
To switch between the desorption process and the adsorption process, the
By the way, the waste
There is no particular problem during a period in which the heat generation temperature is equal to or higher than the desorption temperature of the first and
However, in a period when the heat generation temperature is lower than the desorption temperature, in the adsorption unit in which the desorption process is performed in each
Even if this period ends and the heat generation temperature rises, an unnecessary time is required for the temperature of the adsorbent 17 to be equal to or higher than the desorption temperature.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, two
For example, in the first
On the other hand, in the second
Further, by controlling the switching direction of the
Thereby, since the
On the other hand, since the desorption temperature is low in the
As a result, if the first and second

At this time, if the temperature of the
Therefore, the
Below, the example of switching of the valves 33-36 and 45-48 is explained in full detail.
First Example In this example, the
In this case, the switching direction of the
In Table 2, the temperature of the
In this case, when the
On the other hand, when the
According to this, since the
Table 3 below shows another example of the valve switching direction.
In the example of Table 3, by mixing the
On the other hand, the
Since the desorption temperature in the
However, since the desorption efficiency does not decrease in the first
In the second example desorption process, the temperature of the
However, the adsorbent 17 immediately after the adsorption process is completed and moved to the desorption process is in a state cooled to about 25 ° C. to 33 ° C. by the cooling
Therefore, in this case, even if the
In view of this point, in this example, when the adsorption process is completed in the
Such distribution can be performed by controlling the switching direction of the
In the example of Table 4, as in Tables 2 and 3, the temperatures of the
As illustrated in Table 4, immediately after the start of the desorption process, all the
In addition, when the temperature of the adsorbent 17 becomes sufficiently high after a certain time t has elapsed, it is preferable to increase the desorption efficiency of the adsorbent 17 by supplying the adsorbent 17 with the
In this embodiment, when the temperature of the adsorbent 17 becomes higher than the
Note that the temperature of the adsorbent 17 is detected by an adsorbent temperature detector 53 (see FIG. 1) provided in each
By frequently switching the
(Circulating fluid connection example)
As described with reference to FIG. 2, the
Below, the connection example of the 1st and 2nd adsorption |
FIG. 4 is a configuration diagram showing an example of the connection.
In this example, a circulating
Among these, the
On the other hand, the circulating
The switching can be performed by controlling each valve as shown in Table 5 below.
When the serial connection is selected by controlling the valve, the circulating
Even if it is not necessary to cool the circulating
For example, when it is necessary to cool the circulating
Alternatively, when such a burden reduction is not required, the valves may be operated in accordance with Table 5 and connected in parallel.
Thus, by selecting either serial connection or parallel connection according to the cooling temperature required for the circulating
Next, an embodiment using the waste
In this embodiment, a cold fin
On the other hand, the two
Water was used as the circulating
Further, water was used as the cooling
The performance of the
The relative pressure φ is defined as φ = P / Ps, where Ps is the saturated vapor pressure of the refrigerant 18 at a certain temperature, and P is the vapor pressure actually indicated by the refrigerant 18 at that temperature.
Further, the relative pressure φ at the time of adsorption and desorption is defined as follows.
Adsorption relative pressure φ1 = Pc / Pm
Desorption relative pressure φ2 = Pm / Ph
Here, Pc is the saturated vapor pressure of the refrigerant at the evaporator temperature Tc, Pm is the saturated vapor pressure of the refrigerant at the cooling water temperature Tm, and Ph is the saturated vapor pressure of the refrigerant at the desorption temperature Th.
In this embodiment, each parameter has the following value.
Tc=10℃
Pc=1.205
Tm=25℃
Pm=3.143 kPa
Th=70℃
Ph=31.17 kPa
Tc = 10 ℃
Pc = 1.205
Tm = 25 ℃
Pm = 3.143 kPa
Th = 70 ℃
Ph = 31.17 kPa
For saturated vapor pressures Pc, Pm, and Ph, values at temperatures Tc, Tm, and Th were referred to from the water vapor pressure table.
When these values are used, the relative pressure φ1 in the
On the other hand, the relative pressure φ2 in the
The operating range of the adsorption refrigerator is defined in the range of φ2 to φ1, and is 0.101 to 0.383 as described above in this example.
Further, the amount of the refrigerant 18 adsorbed / desorbed on the adsorbent 17 is defined by this operating range. In this embodiment, about 0.2 kg of refrigerant (water) 18 is adsorbed / desorbed with respect to 1 kg of silica gel used as the adsorbent 17.
On the other hand, waste heat generated in the four heating elements 22 to 25 such as CPUs provided in the server 21 (see FIG. 1) is recovered by the
The circulation flow rate of the
In this case, the temperature of the
Further, by controlling the
FIG. 5 shows actual temperatures when the waste
FIG. 5 shows the actual temperature of the
As shown in this, in the present example, the temperature of the
Moreover, although illustration of actual temperature is abbreviate | omitted, in the 2nd adsorption |
Thus, in this example, each
In FIG. 5, the actual temperature in the system according to the comparative example is also plotted with a dotted line.
In the comparative example, all of the
In this comparative example, since the temperature of the
As mentioned above, although embodiment of this invention was described in detail, this invention is not limited to the said embodiment. For example, in the above description, as shown in FIG. 2, each of the first and second
