【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、光磁気ディスクドライブ、追記型ディスクドライブ、相変化型ディスクドライブ、CD−ROM、DVD、光カードなどの光記録媒体に対して情報を記録および/または再生する情報記録再生装置に用いられる対物レンズや、光通信に用いられる光ファイバ用のカップリングレンズ、または走査顕微鏡の対物レンズなどの光学素子を駆動可能に支持するアクチュエータに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
例えば、上記情報記録再生装置などの光学装置に用いられる光ピックアップ用アクチュエータでは、光学素子である対物レンズを直交するフォーカス方向およびトラッキング方向の2方向に駆動可能に支持し、対物レンズの光スポットを正確に記録媒体の記録トラックに位置させる必要がある。このため、光学素子を2方向に駆動可能に支持するアクチュエータとしては、従来から記録密度やアクセス速度の向上などを図ることを目的として駆動感度の高い様々なものが提案されている。

例えば、実開平2−30120号公報(以下、従来技術1という)には、図7に示す如くのアクチュエータが提案されている。このアクチュエータは、対物レンズ10をホルダ11で保持し、フォーカス方向Xおよびトラッキング方向Yに直交するタンジェンシャル方向Zにおいてホルダ11に対向配置した2つの取り付け面11f(図7では一方のみ表示)にそれぞれ、扁平状のフォーカスコイル12およびトラッキングコイル13を1つづつ配置し、これらフォーカスコイル12およびトラッキングコイル13に対して、対向配置したマグネット14からヨーク15を介して有効な磁界を差し向けたものである。この従来技術は、フォーカスコイル12においては作用辺12a,12bの2辺を有効辺として利用し、トラッキングコイル13においては作用辺13a,13bの2辺を電磁力の発生する有効辺として利用することでアクチュエータの応答性(駆動感度)を高めるものである。

また特許第2620221号公報(以下、従来技術2という)には、図8に示す如くのアクチュエータが提案されている。このアクチュエータは、トラッキング方向への駆動力を効率よく発生させるため、対物レンズ20を保持するホルダ21の外周にフォーカスコイル22を巻き付けると共に、ホルダ21の一側面にトラッキングコイル23を取り付け、これらフォーカスコイル22およびトラッキングコイル23に対して、対向配置したマグネット24a,24bから外側ヨーク25aおよび内側ヨーク25bを介して有効な磁界を差し向けたものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、こうした従来技術によるアクチュエータにあっては、以下の如くの不都合が生じることが明らかになった。

まず従来技術1に示す如くのアクチュエータにあっては、フォーカスコイル12とトラッキングコイル13とをタンジェンシャル方向に配した取り付け面11fに対して一体に取り付けていたため、フォーカスコイル12とトラッキングコイル13の大型化に制限があり、駆動感度を高くすることが困難であった。

また従来技術2に示す如くのアクチュエータにあっては、フォーカスコイル22を巻き付けたホルダ21にトラッキングコイル23を取り付けるため、フォーカスコイル22には、3つのマグネット24a,24bのうちの2つのマグネット24aしか作用せず、トラッキングコイル23を取り付けた部分(トラッキング方向Yに沿って延在する部分)のフォーカスコイル22が無駄になって駆動感度を高くすることが困難であった。

本発明は、上述した問題点を解消するためになされたものであって、光学素子を直交する第1方向および第2方向の2方向に対して高い感度で駆動させることができる光学素子のアクチュエータを提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
このため、第1発明に係る、光学素子のアクチュエータは、光学素子を、直交するフォーカス方向およびトラッキング方向の2方向に駆動可能に支持する光学素子のアクチュエータにおいて、フォーカス方向に沿った中心軸を取り囲むように配置された側面をコイル取り付け面としてその内側で、NA0.7〜0.9の前記光学素子を保持するホルダと、このホルダのコイル取り付け面に取り付けられてフォーカス方向の駆動力を発生するフォーカスコイルと、当該ホルダのコイル取り付け面に取り付けられてトラッキング方向の駆動力を発生するトラッキングコイルと、これらフォーカスおよびトラッキングコイルに磁界を差し向ける磁石からなる磁界発生手段と、前記ホルダをフォーカス方向およびトラッキング方向に駆動可能に支持する支持部材と、を備え、
前記ホルダは、フォーカス方向に沿った中心軸を取り囲むように配置された4つの側面を有して当該側面のそれぞれを前記コイル取り付け面として、
当該4つのコイル取り付け面のうち、前記中心軸を挟んで互いに向かうように配置された2つの第1取り付け面にそれぞれ、単一の前記フォーカスコイルのみを取り付けると共に、前記中心軸を挟んで互いに向かうように配置された2つの第2取り付け面にそれぞれ、単一の前記トラッキングコイルのみを取り付けたものであって、遮光用バーを備えると共に、
発光ダイオード及びフォトダイオードが、レーザーからの光を前記光学素子に反射させる反射ミラーに入射される前記光と直交し、かつ、交わるように配置されて、発光ダイオードからフォトダイオードの受光面に投射される光の出力差を取ることで、光学素子の位置が検出されるものであり、
前記磁界発生手段は、磁気ギャップを構成するヨークを有しないオープン磁気回路であることを特徴とするものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の実施の形態を、添付図面に基づき詳細に説明する。

図1〜図3はそれぞれ、本発明の第1実施形態である光ディスク用の記録再生装置を示す斜視図、図1の上面図、図1をタンジェンシャル方向から示した断面図であり、図4にはその分解図を示す。

この記録再生装置は、相変化記録方式の光ディスク1(図3参照)の記録再生装置であって、光学素子である対物レンズ100を直交する第1方向(フォーカス方向)Xおよび第2方向(トラッキング方向)Yの2方向に駆動可能に支持するものである。なお、光ディスク1には、記録面1fを0−0.1(mm)の薄いカバーガラス1cで覆った既存のものを使用する。

対物レンズ100は、図3,4に示す如く、NA0.7〜0.9と高いNAを有するものであり、中心軸O1が対物レンズ100の光軸と一致するホルダ110の上端に形成された取り付け穴に固定保持される。ホルダ110はまた、その下端に色収差補正レンズ120を固定保持して、この色収差補正レンズ120を対物レンズ100のフォーカス方向Xのバランサとして機能させる一方、対物レンズ100を色収差補正レンズ120のフォーカス方向Xのバランサとして機能させている。この場合、ホルダ110には余計なバランサが不要となる。

ホルダ110は、図4に示す如く、トラッキング方向Yにおいて該ホルダ110に対向配置された2つの第1取り付け面111a,111bと、フォーカス方向Xおよびトラッキング方向Yに直交する第3方向(タンジェンシャル方向)Zにおいて該ホルダ110に対向配置された2つの第2取り付け面112a,112bとを有する。

つまり、フォーカスコイル131,132およびトラッキングコイル133,134は、ホルダの中心軸O1、即ち、対物レンズ100の光軸を取り囲むように且つそれぞれが対向するように設けられた合計4つのフォーカス方向Xに平行な第1取り付け面111a,111bおよび第2取り付け面112a,112bに対して平行に取り付けられている。

またホルダ110は、トラッキングコイル133側に2ヶ所づつ、フォーカス方向Xに沿って延在する固定部115を一体に備え、この固定部115にはそれぞれ、ばね140a,140bの一端が接着固定されている。ばね140a,140bは、厚さ0.05(mm)程度のベリリウム銅からなる薄板をエッジング加工したものであって、ばね140a,140bの中間部は、対物レンズ100の周囲を取り囲み、後述するベース141と共にフォーカスコイル131,132を挟み込むように位置している。そしてばね140a,140bの他端はそれぞれ、スプリングホルダ142の上下端に2ヶ所づつ、スプリングホルダ142と一体に形成されたばね固定部142a,142bに接着固定されている。

スプリングホルダ142は、その取り付け面142fに形成した2つのボスによって、ベース141の取り付け面141gに対して位置決めされた状態で接着固定されている。

ベース141は、厚さ0.6(mm)の鉄板を絞り成形したほぼ筒状であって、そのトラッキング方向Yにおいて対向配置した内壁それぞれに、フォーカス方向Xに2極着磁されたフォーカスマグネット151,152を接着する一方、そのタンジェンシャル方向Zにおいて対向配置した内壁それぞれに、トラッキング方向Yに2極着磁されたトラッキングマグネット153,154を接着する。この場合、磁界発生手段として2極着磁されたマグネットを用いれば、要求する大きさの磁界を容易に発生させることができるため便利である。

つまり、 フォーカスマグネット151(152)の磁極は、フォーカスコイル131(132)のタンジェンシャル方向Zに延在する2つの作用辺131aおよび131b(132aおよび132b)と対向し、トラッキングマグネット153(154)の磁極は、トラッキングコイル133(134)のフォーカス方向Xに延在する2つの作用辺133aおよび133b(134aおよび134b)と対向する。

またベース141は、図3に示す如く、その下端に傾き調整用の球面部141fが一体に形成されており、この球面部141fがキャリッジ160の上面に形成された円錐面160fに対して傾き可能に当接する。これにより、ベース141は、キャリッジ160に対して傾きを調整したのち、キャリッジ160に接着固定される。なお、キャリッジ160の円錐面160fには、図4に示す如く、反射ミラー161が収納されている。

さらにベース141は、そのトラッキング方向Yの外側面にセンサホルダ162が固定されている。センサホルダ162は、タンジェンシャル方向Zにおいて対向する両端に、トラッキング方向Yに2分割された受光面を有するPD(フォトダイオード)163およびLED(発光ダイオード)164を備える。

LED164から出射した光は、ホルダ110の下端に配した遮光用バー116に投射されPD163の受光部に入射される。このとき、対物レンズ100と一体にホルダ110がトラッキング方向Yに移動すると、遮光用バー116もトラッキング方向Yに移動するため、PD163上の2分割された受光面の出力差を取ることによって、対物レンズ100のトラッキング方向Yでの位置を検出できる。

なお、LED164から出射した光は、レーザーから反射ミラー161に入射する光と直交し、かつ、交わるように配置されている。これにより、空間を有効に利用できて記録再生装置を小型化することができる。

本実施形態の記録再生装置は、図3に示す如く、図示しないレーザーからの光を反射ミラー161にて反射させ、この反射光を色収差補正レンズ120を介して対物レンズ100に入射させることにより光ディスク1の記録面1fに光スポットを結ばせる。また本実施形態は、光ディスク1の記録面1fからの反射光を対物レンズ100、色収差補正レンズ120、反射ミラー161へと逆の光路を辿らせ、エラー検出光学素子を経由して受光素子に入射させることにより、トラッキングエラーの検出、フォーカスエラーの検出、RF信号の検出を行うことができる。なお、こうした光学系に関しては、種々のものが提案されているため、その説明は省略するものとする。

ここで、対物レンズ100の微調整方法を説明する。

まず、対物レンズ100をフォーカス方向Xに微調整する場合は、フォーカスコイル131,132にばね140a,140bを介して給電する。このとき、フォーカスコイル131の2つの作用辺131a,131bおよびフォーカスコイル132の2つの作用辺132a,132bにはそれぞれ、フォーカスマグネット151,152からの磁界に協働した同一の力がフォーカス方向Xに沿って発生するため、ホルダ110がフォーカス方向Xに沿って駆動して、対物レンズ100をフォーカス方向Xに微調整することができる。

次に、対物レンズ100をトラッキング方向Yに微調整する場合は、トラッキングコイル133,134にばね140a,140bを介して給電する。このとき、トラッキングコイル133の作用辺133a,133bおよびトラッキングコイル134の作用辺134a,134bにはそれぞれ、トラッキングマグネット153,154からの磁界に協働した同一の力がトラッキング方向Yに沿って発生するため、ホルダ110がトラッキング方向Yに沿って駆動して、対物レンズ100をトラッキング方向Yに微調整することができる。

本実施形態は、ホルダ110の中心軸O1と一致する対物レンズ100の光軸を取り囲むようにホルダ110に設けた第1取り付け面111a,111bおよび第2取り付け面112a,112bにそれぞれ、扁平状のフォーカスコイル131,132およびトラッキングコイル133,134をそれぞれ、第1取り付け面111a,111bおよび第2取り付け面112a,112bに対して平行に取り付け、フォーカスコイル131,132およびトラッキングコイル133,134に磁界を差し向ける磁界発生手段としてフォーカスマグネット151,152およびトラッキングマグネット153,154をそれぞれ対応させたから、

また、ホルダ110の中心軸O1を取り囲む外周面のほぼ全面に駆動用のコイル131〜134を配置することにより、ホルダ110の周囲の無駄な空いたスペースを極小にし、効率良く利用している。さらに、フォーカス駆動用のコイル131,132およびマグネット151,152と、トラッキング駆動用のコイル133,134およびマグネット153,154とを同一面には配置しないで、互いに垂直な別々の取り付け面111a,111b,112a,112bそれぞれに配置したため、それぞれにおいて、大きなコイルとマグネットを配置することができる。

従って本実施形態によれば、フォーカスコイル131,132およびトラッキングコイル133,134を外形寸法の大きなものに設定することができるため、それぞれの作用辺131a,131b,132a,132b,133a,133b,134a,134bの長さ、体積を大きくできると共に、そのコイルに対応するフォーカスマグネット151,152およびトラッキングマグネット153,154もコイルに合せて大きくできるため、対物レンズ100をフォーカス方向Xおよびトラッキング方向Yの2方向に対して高い感度で駆動させることができる。

加えて本実施形態は、フォーカスコイル131(132)にはフォーカスマグネット151(152)が対応し、トラッキングコイル133(134)にはトラッキングマグネット153(154)が対応するため、フォーカスマグネット151(152)からの磁界およびトラッキングマグネット153(154)からの磁界のような異なる力を発生させる磁界同士が干渉することがない。

このため、例えば、対物レンズ100をフォーカス方向Xに微調整する場合、フォーカスコイル131(132)に電流を流してもトラッキングマグネット153(154)からフォーカスコイル131(132)に作用する磁界が非常に少ないため、不所望な対物レンズ100の動きを防止することができる。これに対して従来技術2ではトラッキングコイルに作用する磁石の磁界がフォーカスコイルの1面に作用するため、タンジェンシャル方向Zの軸周りを回転するトルクを生じて対物レンズが不所望な動きをする。

さらに本実施形態は、フォーカスコイル131(132)およびトラッキングコイル133(134)を扁平状にして、その扁平状面をホルダ110に固定して、フォーカスコイル131(132)およびトラッキングコイル133(134)をそれぞれ第1取り付け面111a,111bおよび第2取り付け面112a,112bに対して平行に取り付けたため、ホルダ110に取り付けたフォーカスコイル131(132)およびトラッキングコイル133(134)の剛性が格段に高くなり、コイルそのものが変形するモードの共振周波数が非常に高くなる。またホルダ110自体も四角いブロック状で剛性が高い上に中心の開口部が対物レンズ100と色収差補正レンズ120で補強され、その外周部が扁平状のコイルによって補強されるために剛性が高くなり、その共振周波数も高くなる。

ところで、本実施形態の磁気発生手段は、2極着磁のフォーカスマグネット151,152およびトラッキングマグネット153,154からなる磁気ギャップを形成するヨークを有しないオープン磁気回路を構成するものである。この場合、ホルダ110にヨークを配置するための開口部を設ける必要が無いから、この開口部の剛性分だけ、ホルダ110の剛性を高めることができる。

ここで、フォーカスコイル131,132それぞれに同じフォーカス方向Xの力を発生させるようにフォーカスサーボ電流を給電すると、対物レンズ100をフォーカス方向Xに微調整できる。これに対し、図6に示すように、フォーカスコイル131,132それぞれに逆向きのフォーカス方向Xの力を発生させるようにチルトサーボ電流を給電すると、タンジェンシャル軸Z周りの回転θzが生じて、対物レンズ100をタンジェンシャル軸Z周りに傾けることができるため、コマ収差などを補正することができる。なお、フォーカスコイル131,132にそれぞれ、フォーカスサーボ電流とチルトサーボ電流を加算したサーボ電流を流すと、対物レンズ100をフォーカス方向Xに微調整しつつタンジェンシャル軸Z周りに傾けることができるため、コマ収差の補正などに対してさらに有効である。

つまり、本実施形態において、フォーカスコイル131,132は、コイルを流れる電流の向きを制御可能なものであるから、フォーカスコイル131,132に給電される向きを互いに逆向きにすれば、対物レンズ100をトラッキング方向Yに傾けることができる。

特に本実施形態においては、光ディスク1のチルトセンサまたは再生信号のトラッククロストーク信号などを用いてタンジェンシャル軸θz周りにチルトサーボをかけることができる。この場合、対物レンズ100を傾けてコマ収差を補正できるため、光スポットの収差が良くなり、良好な記録再生が可能になる。

上述したところは、本発明の好適な実施形態を示したに過ぎず、当業者によれば、請求の範囲において、様々な変更を加えることができる。例えば、第1及び第2実施形態では、対物レンズ100の微調整が容易になるように、ホルダの中心軸O1を対物レンズ100の光軸と一致させているが、必ずしもホルダの中心軸O1を対物レンズ100の光軸に一致させる必要は無い。またフォーカスコイルおよびトラッキングコイルの2辺にて、2極着磁したマグネットを対向させたが、1辺のみに単極マグネットを対向させてもよい。
