Description
緑色を表示するためのGフィールド期間Tgでは,V12レベルの駆動電圧が印加されて,V12レベルの駆動電圧に相応する光が液晶を透過する。
このような従来のフィールド順次方式の液晶表示装置は,R,G,BバックライトとしてLED(発光ダイオード)を使用して,順次に赤,緑,青LEDを駆動させる。つまり,フィールド順次方式は,赤色を表示するRフィールド期間,緑色を表示するGフィールド期間,青色を表示するBフィールド期間を設け,各期間で赤色を出すためのRLED,緑色を出すためのGLED及び青色を出すためのBLEDが順次に通電される。このような各LEDが発光する期間に,各々のR,G,Bデータを液晶に印加して累積された光を通してカラーイメージが表示される。
ここで,R,G,B各色のLEDは,その物理的特性上,通電させるための電圧が各々異なり,順方向電圧Vfの値による順方向電流Ifも各々異なる。また,順方向電流による輝度量が,それぞれのLED(RLED,GLED,BLED)毎に異なる。ここで,順方向電圧Vfの意味は,LEDに通電させるために各LEDに印加する電圧のことをいい,順方向電流Ifは,順方向電圧が印加された場合,LEDを流れる電流を意味する。

Claims (7)
- 第1電極が配置される第1基板と第2電極が配置される第2基板の間に配置される液晶及び少なくとも一つの画素電極に赤,緑,青の光を順次に透過させるように制御する光源制御装置を含む液晶表示装置において:
前記光源制御装置の第1端子に第1端子が連結される第1赤LEDと;
前記第1赤LEDの第2端子に第1端子が連結される第2赤LEDと;
前記光源制御装置の第1端子に第1端子が連結される第1緑LEDと;
前記第1緑LEDに同方向並列に連結される第2緑LEDと;
前記光源制御装置の第1端子に第1端子が連結される青LEDとを含み,
前記第1赤LED及び第2赤LEDを発光させるため印加する第1電圧と,前記第1緑LED及び第2緑LEDを発光させるため印加する第2電圧と,前記青LEDを発光させるため印加する第3電圧とのレベルが略同一であることを特徴とする,液晶表示装置。 - 前記光源制御装置の第1端子は,前記第1赤LED,前記第2赤LED,前記第1緑LED,前記第2緑LED,または前記青LEDのうち少なくとも一つに印加する電圧を出力する端子であることを特徴とする,請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1赤LED,前記第2赤LED,前記第1緑LED,前記第2緑LED,または前記青LEDのうち少なくとも二つが,一つのチップとして一体に形成されていることを特徴とする,請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1赤LED及び第2赤LEDで発光する輝度と,前記第1緑LED及び第2緑LEDで発光する輝度と,前記青LEDで発光する輝度とは略同一であることを特徴とする,請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2赤LEDの第2端子は,前記光源制御装置の第2端子に連結され,前記第1緑LED及び第2緑LEDの第2端子は前記光源制御装置の第3端子に共通に連結され,前記青LEDの第2端子は前記第4端子に連結されることを特徴とする,請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記光源制御装置の第2端子は,前記第1赤LED及び第2赤LEDの第2端子を連結する端子で,前記光源制御装置の第3端子は前記第1緑LED及び第2緑LEDの第2端子を連結する端子であり,前記光源制御装置の第4端子は前記青LEDの第2端子を連結する端子であることを特徴とする,請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1赤LED,前記第2赤LED,前記第1緑LED,前記第2緑LED,および前記青LEDの第1端子は,アノードであり,第2端子はカソードであることを特徴とする,請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
