従来、顕微鏡として、鏡基の胴部に対して試料ステージを固定するとともに、対物レンズを取り付けたレボルバを光軸方向に移動自在にし、焦準ハンドルとレボルバとを焦準機構を介して連結させ、焦準ハンドルを回転させることで、対物レンズを光軸方向に上下動させてフォーカスを行う対物レンズ上下動式のものが知られている。

一方、顕微鏡により観察する試料の種類は多様化しており、細胞のような極めて薄い試料から小動物の脳のように十分な厚みのある試料まで幅広く観察できることが望まれている。

このような要望に対し、特開平6−51205号公報に開示されるように、対物レンズを固定した投光管部と鏡柱との間に鏡柱アダプタを設けて、投光管部の高さ方向の位置を変更し、対物レンズとステージとの間の距離を調整できるようにしたものがある。

ところが、このように構成のものは、レボルバが投光管部に固定された対物レンズ固定式のものであるため、鏡柱アダプタを使用してレボルバの高さ位置を変更して対物レンズとステージとの間の距離を調整した状態では、対物レンズを上下動させてフォーカスを行うことができないという問題があった。

請求項1記載の発明は、ベース部に対して直立して形成された胴部を有するフレームと、標本を載置するステージを有するとともに、前記フレームのベース部に設けられたステージ受け部と、前記フレームの胴部上部に設けられ、少なくとも落射照明用光源を有する落射投光管と、対物レンズを有する保持部と前記フレームの前記胴部に沿って上下動可能に設けられる摺動部を有し、前記フレームの前記胴部に沿った前記摺動部の上下動により前記対物レンズによるフォーカスを可能にした対物アームとを具備し、前記保持部および前記摺動部は少なくとも一部が前記対物アームのうち前記フレームの前記胴部に沿った部分に設けられ、前記フレームの前記胴部と前記落射投光管との間にアダプタを介在させて前記落射投光管の高さ位置を調整可能とし、かつ前記対物アームの前記保持部と前記摺動部との間にアダプタを介在させて前記フレームの前記胴部に沿った方向の前記対物アームにおける前記保持部と前記摺動部との間の長さを変更可能とし、前記対物レンズの高さ位置を調整可能にしたことを特徴としている。

ランプハウス19は、落射照明用光源からの落射照明光を発するもので、この落射照明光をキューブユニット22で反射させ、対物レンズ11の光軸に沿って出射するようにしている。キューブユニット22は、図示しない複数のキューブが収容され、これらキューブを検鏡法に応じて選択的に光路上に位置させることができるようになっている。接眼レンズ20は、ステージ303上の標本像を目視観察するもので、ランプハウス2の透過照明用光源を用いた透過観察では、コンデンサレンズ4を通り標本6を透過された光が対物レンズ11、キューブユニット22を介して入射され、また、ランプハウス19の落手照明用光源を用いた落射観察では、対物レンズ11を介して標本6に照射されるとともに、反射された光が対物レンズ11、キューブユニット22を介して入射されるようになっている。

胴部アダプタ17は、落射投光管18の高さ位置を調整するもので、上下方向に貫通した穴部171を複数個有し、穴部171の上側開口部には、固定用ねじ部171aを、下側開口部には、固定用穴部171bをそれぞれ形成しており、この固定用穴部171bを介して胴部1b上面のねじ穴にねじ23をねじ込むことで胴部1b上に固定され、また、落射投光管18側からの長ねじ24を固定用ねじ部171aにねじ込みことで、落射投光管18にも固定されている。
