Description
ポリ(ビニルプロピオネート)(PVP)の濃度が繊維のプルアウトに与える効果は、ポリアラミド布で測定された。PVPは、ニューヨーク州、オンタリオのサイエンティフィック・ポリマー・プロダクツ社(Scientific Polymer Products Inc.,Ontario,NY)から得られた。摩擦はプルアウト力に関連し、表1に示されるように比較的低い濃度においても濃度と共に実質的に増加する。この表においてPVPの重量パーセントは、添加剤の乾燥レベル対ポリアラミド布の重量に基づいている。
上記の通り摩擦の適度な増加は、PVP液体接着剤10重量%までを含浸された約0.84ポンド/平方フィート(psf)の坪量を有するポリアラミド布層を含有する系の場合については裏面変形(BFD)の改良に寄与する。これは、表2においてV50によって測定された時に弾道貫通抵抗を維持し、改良もしつつ達成される。
比較例は、ビニルエステル硬質樹脂母材を有する固体接着剤を含浸された1.26ポンド/平方フィート(psf)の坪量を有するケブラー(Kevlar)(登録商標)ポリアラミドの布を用いて準備された。
ポリアラミド布が以下のように低重量分率の低ガラス転移ポリマーで含浸された。
9重量%および15重量%のPVP(それぞれ実施例6、7)、10重量%のPHM(実施例8)、8重量%のポリ(イソプロピルアクリレート)(実施例9)、8重量%のエチレン/メチルアクリレート(38/62)コポリマー(実施例10)。
840デニールのケブラー(Kevlar)布を添加剤を用いずに作製した(O)。また、布を以下の固体添加剤を用いて作製した。9重量%のポリウレタン(溶剤適用された)固体、架橋された(P)および12重量%の弾性サーリン(Surlyn)(登録商標)(溶融適用された)固体、結晶性(Q)。サーリン(登録商標)はデュポン(DuPont)から入手可能である。
本発明の好適な実施態様は次のとおりである。
1. 繊維と、約−40℃〜約0℃のガラス転移温度を有する高粘度ポリマー約1〜約15重量%とを含んでなる繊維構造物。
2. ポリマーが約20,000〜400,000の分子量を有する上記1に記載の繊維構造物。
3. ポリマーが20℃において約2×106〜約1013ポアズの粘度を有する上記1に記載の繊維構造物。
4. ポリマーがポリ(ビニルプロピオネート)、ポリ(ヘキシルメタクリレート)、ポリ(イソプロピルアクリレート)、およびエチレン/メチルアクリレートコポリマーよりなる群の1つから選択される上記1に記載の繊維構造物。
5. 繊維がポリオレフィン、ポリイミド、ポリエステル、ポリ(ビニルアルコール)、ポリベンゾイミダゾール、ポリピリドビスイミダゾール、ポリピリダゾール、ポリアレーンアゾール、およびポリアラミドよりなる群の1つから紡糸される上記1に記載の繊維構造物。
6. 編布、織布、一織構造物、一方向シート、多方向シート、不織層、および単繊維よりなる群から選択される形態にある上記1に記載の繊維構造物。
7. ポリマーがポリビニルプロピオネートであり、繊維がポリアラミドである上記1に記載の繊維構造物。
8. 上記1に記載の繊維構造物の1つもしくはそれ以上の層を含んでなる、物品。
9. ポリマーがポリ(ビニルプロピオネート)である上記8に記載の物品。
10. ポリマーがポリ(ヘキシルメタクリレート)である上記8に記載の物品。
11. ポリマーがポリエチレン/メチルアクリレートコポリマーである上記8に記載の物品。
12. 繊維がポリピリドビスイミダゾールを含んでなる上記9〜11のいずれか一項に記載の物品。
13. 繊維がポリピリダゾールを含んでなる上記9〜11のいずれか一項に記載の物品。
14. 繊維がポリアレーンアゾールを含んでなる上記9〜11のいずれか一項に記載の物品。
15. 繊維がポリベンゾイミダゾールを含んでなる上記9〜11のいずれか一項に記載の物品。
16. 繊維がポリ(パラフェニレンテレフタルアミド)を含んでなる上記9〜11のいずれか一項に記載の物品。
17. 防護服である上記8に記載の物品。
18. 加工層および未加工層の組合せを含んでなる防護服である上記8に記載の物品。
Claims (2)
- 繊維と、−40℃〜0℃のガラス転移温度を有する高粘度ポリマー4〜10重量%とを含んでなり、
繊維がポリアラミドから紡糸され
高粘度ポリマーが20℃において2×106〜1013ポアズの粘度を有し、且つポリ(ビニルプロピオネート)、ポリ(ヘキシルメタクリレート)、ポリ(イソプロピルアクリレート)、およびエチレン/メチルアクリレートコポリマーよりなる群の1つから選択される繊維構造物。 - 請求項1に記載の繊維構造物の1つもしくはそれ以上の層を含んでなる、物品。
