Description

[0001]
The present invention relates to a coolant composition used for cooling a fuel cell, particularly an automobile fuel cell, and more particularly, to maintain the conductivity of the composition at a low conductivity over a long period of time and to make it antifreeze. The present invention relates to an excellent coolant composition for a fuel cell.
[Background]
[0002]
A fuel cell is generally configured as a stack having a structure in which a large number of single cells as power generation units are stacked. Since heat is generated from the stack during power generation, a cooling plate is inserted every several cells to cool the stack.
[0003]
A coolant passage is formed inside the cooling plate, and the stack is cooled by the flow of the coolant through the passage.
[0004]
In this way, the coolant of the fuel cell circulates in the stack that is generating power to cool the stack, so if the electrical conductivity of the coolant is high, the electricity generated in the stack will move to the coolant side. It flows and loses electricity, and the power generation in the fuel cell is reduced.
[0005]
Therefore, pure water having low electrical conductivity, in other words, high electrical insulation, has been used as a conventional fuel cell coolant.
[0006]
However, in the case of an intermittent operation type fuel cell such as a fuel cell for an automobile, for example, the coolant is lowered to the ambient temperature when it is not operated. In particular, when there is a possibility of use below freezing point, there is a possibility that the battery performance of the fuel cell is impaired, such as freezing in pure water and damage to the cooling plate due to volume expansion of the coolant.
[0007]
Under such circumstances, low conductivity and antifreeze are required for the coolant of fuel cells, particularly automobile fuel cells.
[0008]
Conventionally, as a fuel cell coolant composition that can meet the above requirements, a base composed of a mixed solution of water and glycols, and an amine-based alkaline addition that maintains the conductivity of the coolant at a low conductivity The thing containing an agent is proposed (refer Unexamined-Japanese-Patent No. 2001-164244).
However, bases such as glycols in the above composition oxidize during the operation of the fuel cell to produce a slight but ionic substance. For this reason, the amount of ionic substances in the cooling liquid increases with long-term use, and as a result, the low conductivity of the cooling liquid cannot be maintained.
[0009]
In order to eliminate such problems, an ion exchange resin is arranged in the path of the cooling system of the fuel cell, and ionic substances in the cooling liquid are removed by the ion exchange resin, thereby suppressing an increase in the conductivity of the cooling liquid. Attempts have also been made.
[0010]
However, in this case, the ion exchange resin is consumed for removing the ionic substance generated by the oxidation of the base, and there is a problem that the ion exchange amount of the ion exchange resin is reduced and the exchange life is remarkably reduced. .
[0011]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and by suppressing generation of an ionic substance due to oxidation of the base, a fuel cell that maintains low conductivity over a long period of time and is excellent in antifreeze An object of the present invention is to provide a cooling liquid composition.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION
[0012]
Hereinafter, the fuel cell coolant composition of the present invention (hereinafter simply referred to as the composition) will be described in more detail. The composition of the present invention is characterized in that the base contains an aliphatic alcohol having an unsaturated bond in the molecule. As the base in this composition, a material having low electrical conductivity and antifreezing properties is desirable. Specifically, those composed of one or more selected from water, glycols, saturated alcohols and glycol ethers are preferred.
[0013]
Examples of glycols include one selected from ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,3-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, and hexylene glycol, or The thing which consists of 2 or more types can be mentioned.
[0014]
Examples of saturated alcohols include one or more selected from methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, pentanol, hexanol, heptanol, and octanol.
[0015]
Glycol ethers include polyoxyalkylene glycol alkyl ethers such as ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether, triethylene glycol monomethyl ether, tetraethylene glycol monomethyl ether, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, triethylene glycol. Mention may be made of one or more selected from monoethyl ether, tetraethylene glycol monoethyl ether, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, triethylene glycol monobutyl ether and tetraethylene glycol monobutyl ether. .
[0016]
The aliphatic alcohol of the present invention has an unsaturated bond in the molecule, suppresses the generation of ionic substances due to the oxidation of the base, and thus makes the coolant using the composition low in electrical conductivity. Can be maintained. Specifically, the electrical conductivity of the composition can be maintained at 10 μS / cm or less, and the variation in the electrical conductivity of the composition due to long-term use can be maintained in the range of 0 to 10 μS / cm.
[0017]
Further, the aliphatic alcohols of the present invention are not easily removed by the ion exchange resin even when an ion exchange resin is disposed in the path of the cooling system of the fuel cell, and the composition circulating in the path The effect of maintaining the conductivity of the used coolant at a low conductivity is not easily lost, and it is not removed by the ion exchange resin. Therefore, the ion exchange amount of the ion exchange resin is not reduced, and the service life is increased accordingly. Can do.

[0019]
As content of aliphatic alcohol, it is desirable to set it as the range of 0.01-15 weight part with respect to 100 weight part of bases. If it is out of the above range, the above-mentioned sufficient effect cannot be obtained, and it becomes uneconomical.
[0020]
In addition to the above-mentioned components, the composition of the present invention may contain, for example, an antifoaming agent, a coloring agent, etc., and other conventionally known rust preventive additives, molybdate and tungstate. , Sulfates, nitrates, benzoates and the like may be used in combination as long as the low conductivity of the composition is not impaired.

【The invention's effect】
[0026]
Since the composition of the present invention contains an aliphatic alcohol having an unsaturated bond in the molecule, the production of an ionic substance due to the oxidation of the base is suppressed, and the low conductivity is maintained over a long period of time. Further, since the aliphatic alcohols in the composition of the present invention are not easily removed even if the ion exchange resin is arranged in the path of the cooling system of the fuel cell, the service life of the ion exchange resin can be extended. .
