Description
図2は、本発明の第1実施例によるVAモードの半透過型液晶表示装置を示す断面図であり、図3Aは、図2の半透過型液晶表示装置の反射部の共通電極を示す平面図であり、図3Bは、図2の半透過型液晶表示装置の反射部の画素電極を示す平面図であり、図3Cは、図3Aの共通電極及び図3Bの画素電極を合着した状態を示す平面図である。
図6は、本発明の第2実施例によるVAモードの半透過型液晶表示装置の構造断面図である。
図7は、本発明の第3実施例によるVAモードの半透過型液晶表示装置の構造断面図である。
なお、本発明の第1実施例では反射部の共通電極に第2オープンパターンを形成しているが、画素電極の反射部に第2オープンパターンを形成しても同じ効果が得られる。
また、共通電極にマルチドメインを形成するためのスリットまたはホールのような第1オープンパターンが形成され、画素電極上では突起が形成されたVAモードの半透過型液晶表示装置において、反射部の共通電極または画素電極にフリンジフィールドを形成するための第2オープンパターンを形成できる。以下、これについて具体的に説明する。
一方、上記の本発明の第1乃至第5実施例において、反射部の画素電極と共通電極の両方ともにフリンジフィールドを誘導するための第2オープンパターンを形成できる。これを具体的に説明すると、下記の通りである。

Claims (9)
- 単位画素領域が反射部と透過部とに区分される半透過型液晶表示装置において、
相対向する第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板上の画素領域に形成される画素電極と、
前記第1基板上の反射部に形成された反射板と、
前記第2基板上に形成される共通電極と、
マルチドメインを形成するために前記画素電極及び共通電極のうちの少なくとも一つに形成される少なくとも一つの第1オープンパターンと、
前記反射部と透過部が同じセルギャップを持つために、フリンジフィールドを誘導するように前記画素電極及び共通電極の透過部を除く前記画素電極及び共通電極のうちの少なくとも一つの反射部のみに形成された複数個の第2オープンパターンと、
を備えて構成されることを特徴とする、半透過型液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数個の第2オープンパターンは、第1オープンパターンの密度よりも高い密度で形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1オープンパターンの幅は6〜10μmであり、第2オープンパターンの幅は1〜5μmであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1オープンパターン及び第2オープンパターンは、スリットまたはホール形態で形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- マルチドメインを形成するために前記画素電極及び共通電極のうちの少なくとも一つに形成される突起をさらに備えることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板は薄膜トランジスタアレイ基板であり、第2基板はカラーフィルタアレイ基板であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数個の第2オープンパターンの形成される反射部の画素電極または共通電極は、クモの巣の形状に形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数個の第2オープンパターンの形成される反射部の画素電極または共通電極は、横桟または縦桟が配置される窓の形状に形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数個の第2オープンパターンの形成される反射部の画素電極または共通電極は、碁盤の形状に形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
