Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a golf club head having a hollow metal outer shell, and in particular, the metal outer shell is thin and easily deformed at the time of hitting a ball. Therefore, the resilience is good and a large flight distance can be obtained. A golf club head that can be used.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As a golf club head, a solid club head manufactured by cutting natural persimmon (a oak tree) for a long time has been widely used. This persimmon head is made of natural wood and is solid, so it has a soft feel and a small impact at the time of impact, so there are many lovers, but because it is manufactured by craftsmen by hand rather than natural wood There is a drawback that mass production is difficult.
[0003]
Therefore, in recent years, metal hollow golf club heads have been industrially mass-produced as golf club heads replacing the persimmon heads.
[0004]
This metal hollow golf club head is generally manufactured by the following method.
(1) The face part, crown part and other parts are integrally formed by casting.
(2) Each part such as the face part and the crown part is manufactured separately from a metal thin plate by press molding, and these parts are integrated by welding to form a golf club head.
[0005]
In such a metal hollow golf club head, it is important for improving the resilience and increasing the flight distance of the ball that the face portion of the head is easily deformed when the ball is hit.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the casting method, the metal constituting the head is hard and easily brittle. In addition, since it is difficult to reduce the thickness of a metal having a low specific gravity such as a titanium alloy, the obtained head is less likely to be deformed when a ball is hit, and repulsion tends to be poor.
[0007]
In the method in which the face portion, the crown portion, and the like are separately formed by press forming and integrated by welding, the vicinity of the joint by welding of the face portion and the crown portion becomes hard and brittle due to melting of the metal at the time of welding. Further, since a bead is formed by welding, the head is less likely to be deformed at the time of hitting the ball, and the repulsion is likely to deteriorate.
[0008]
The present invention provides a metal hollow golf club head that solves the above-described problems of the conventional metal hollow golf club head and that is easily deformed when a ball is hit, and therefore has good resilience and can increase the flight distance of the ball. The purpose is to do.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The golf club head of the present invention is a golf club head having a hollow metal outer shell, in which a face portion and a crown portion having a shape bulging upward are integrally formed by plastic working. The thickness of the crown portion gradually decreases from the face side toward the head highest point and the center apex, and the thickness of the crown portion near the head highest point and the center apex is 0.5˜. is 0.9 mm, the thickness of the front edge (the face portion nearest portion) of the crown portion, and 0.2~1.0mm size Kuna' than the thickness of the head highest point and the center vertex, face The integrally molded product of the part and the crown part further includes a part of the side part .
[0010]
In the head of the present invention, the crown portion and the face portion are integrally formed, and since there is no welded portion in this portion, the head is easily deformed when a ball is hit. And since it is plastic processing, there is no hardening of a metal material like embrittlement, and embrittlement. In addition, it can be easily formed by thin molding to be deformed when the ball is hit. As a result, a head having high resilience and a large flight distance can be obtained.
[0011]
In the present invention, hot forging or press working is suitable as the plastic working.
[0012]
In the head of the present invention, by forming a rib on the back surface of the face part, it is possible to attenuate the vibration when the face part is deformed at the time of hitting the ball and enhance the feel at impact.
[0013]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The golf club head of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.

As the metal forming the metal outer shell of the golf club head of the present invention, stainless steel and titanium alloy are particularly preferable, and in particular, β-titanium alloy, Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al, Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al, etc. Alloys such as Ti-4.5Al-3V-2Mo-2Fe and Ti-6Al-4V are preferred. In particular, the metal constituting the integral part of the face part 2 and the
[0028]
The type of head to which the golf club head of the present invention is applied is not particularly limited, but a wood type golf club, particularly a driver, is suitable. That is, since the driver tees up and hits the ball, the golfer generally hits the ball above the face surface in many cases. Therefore, when the present invention is applied to the driver, the crown portion is easily bent, the launch angle is increased, and the flight distance is remarkably increased.
[0029]
In the present invention, a driver is a club having a loft angle of 15 degrees or less and a club length of 109 cm (43 inches) or more.
[0030]
When the present invention is applied to a wood type golf club, particularly to a driver as described above, the area of the crown portion increases as the volume of the head increases, and the effect becomes remarkable. Therefore, the golf club head of the present invention is suitable for a head having a head volume of 250 cm 3 (ml) or more, particularly 300 cm 3 (ml) or more, and a maximum head height of 48 mm or more, particularly 52 mm or more. . However, if the head volume or the head height is too large, it is not preferable as a golf club head, and a head volume of 500 cm 3 or less and a maximum head height of 68 mm or less are suitable.
[0031]
【Example】
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described more specifically with reference to Examples and Comparative Examples.
[0032]

A golf club head of the present invention shown in FIG. 1 was manufactured using a round bar of Ti-4.5Al-3V-2Mo-2Fe alloy (SP700) manufactured by a forging machine. First, this round bar was heated to about 800 ° C., and the face portion and the crown portion were integrally formed by hot forging. This forming was performed through three hot forging steps of rough punching, medium punching, and finish punching.
[0033]
The obtained face / crown integrated product has a face portion thickness of 2.7 mm and two ribs having a width of 3 mm and a height of 0.3 mm on the back surface portion. The ribs were provided in the height direction of the face portion so as to extend almost the entire region of the height, and the ribs were formed at intervals of 30 mm so that the center portion of the rib interval was the face center position. The crown portion has an arcuate cross section that bulges upward in a cross section from the face side to the back side at the face center position.
