Description
Claims (24)
- 取引を処理する装置であって、
a)ウィンドウを有する固定ワークステーションと、
b)該ワークステーション内に取り付けられた電気光学読取り装置であって、該ウィンドウの第一の領域を通して複数の走査線としてレーザビームを投射し、該複数の走査線のうちの少なくとも一つが該ウィンドウに提示された取引に関連した一次元記号の少なくとも一部を横切って掃引されるときにおいて該一次元記号を電気光学的に読取ることにより、取引信号を生成する電気光学読取り装置と、
c)該ワークステーション内に取り付けられた二次元固体イメージャであって、該二次元固体イメージャは、該ウィンドウの後ろにあり、該二次元固体イメージャは、該ウィンドウの第二の領域を通して二次元ターゲットからの光をキャプチャすることにより、イメージ信号を生成し、該ターゲットは、非記号ターゲットを含み、該第二の領域は、該第一の領域と実質的に重なっている、二次元固体イメージャと、
d)該記号と該非記号ターゲットとを識別し、該取引信号と該イメージ信号とを別々に処理する処理回路と
を備える、装置。 - 前記イメージャは、前記ウィンドウの後ろに位置する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ウィンドウは水平面内に位置しており、前記ワークステーションは該水平面と交差する平面に置かれた直立ウィンドウを有しており、前記イメージャは該ウィンドウのうちの一つの後ろに位置する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記イメージャは、二次元電荷結合素子(CCD)アレイを含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記イメージャは、100マイクロ秒未満の期間において前記ターゲットを照明する照明器を含んでおり、該イメージャは該期間中のみにおいて光をキャプチャする、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記取引は、前記ウィンドウを通過する製品の購入であり、前記非記号ターゲットは、購入される製品の支払いのために消費者によって提示されるパーソナルチェックとカードとのうちの一つである、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記非記号ターゲットはまた、サインと、運転免許証と、消費者とのうちの一つである、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記取引は、オペレータにより前記ウィンドウを通過する製品の購入であり、前記非記号ターゲットは、オペレータである、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記処理回路は、自動識別装置と、前記読取り装置および前記イメージャに動作可能に接続された共通のプロセッサであって、前記取引信号をデコードし、前記イメージ信号をリモートホストへとルーティングする共通のプロセッサとを含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記処理回路は、自動識別装置と、前記イメージ信号を格納するメモリとを含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記イメージャは、オペレータによってマニュアルで駆動される、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記イメージャは、自動的に駆動される、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 取引を処理する方法であって、
a)固定ワークステーションに取り付けられたウィンドウの第一の領域を通して複数の走査線としてレーザビームを投射し、該複数の走査線のうちの少なくとも一つが該ウィンドウに提示された取引に関連した一次元記号の少なくとも一部を横切って掃引されるときにおいて該一次元記号を電気光学的に読取ることにより、取引信号を生成するステップと、
b)該ワークステーション内に取り付けられた二次元固体イメージャを用いて、該ウィンドウの第二の領域を通して二次元ターゲットからの光をキャプチャすることにより、イメージ信号を生成するステップであって、該二次元固体イメージャは、該ウィンドウの後ろにあり、該ターゲットは、非記号ターゲットを含み、該第二の領域は、該第一の領域と実質的に重なっている、ステップと、
c)該記号と該非記号ターゲットとを識別し、該取引信号と該イメージ信号とを別々に処理するステップと
を包含する、方法。 - 前記イメージャを前記ウィンドウの後ろに位置させる、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 100マイクロ秒未満の期間において前記非記号ターゲットを照明し、
前記キャプチャするステップは該期間中のみにおいて光をキャプチャすることによって実行される、請求項13に記載の方法。 - 前記イメージャをマニュアルで駆動する、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記イメージャを自動的に駆動する、請求項13に記載の方法。

c)該ウィンドウの後ろにおいて該ワークステーションに取り付けられた二次元固体の隠されたイメージャであって、該イメージャは、取引の時点において、該ウィンドウの第二の領域を通して該オペレータのイメージをキャプチャし、該第二の領域は、該第一の領域と実質的に重なっている、イメージャと
を備える、装置。 - 前記ウィンドウは水平面内に位置しており、前記ワークステーションは該水平面と交差する平面に置かれた直立ウィンドウを有しており、前記イメージャは該ウィンドウのうちの一つの後ろに位置する、請求項18に記載の装置。
- 前記イメージャは、二次元電荷結合素子(CCD)アレイを含む、請求項18に記載の装置。
- 前記イメージャは、100マイクロ秒未満の期間において前記オペレータを照明する照明器を含んでおり、該イメージャは該期間中のみにおいて該オペレータのイメージをキャプチャする、請求項18に記載の装置。
