上記のように接地体1は切断作業中にその接地部が地面に摺接するのであるから、この接地部は徐々に磨耗していく。殊に、本例の接地体1のように切断作業中に回転刃26と一体に回転するものは、地面に接触する部位の磨耗は軽視することはできないのであるが、本例の接地体1では上記接地による磨耗にも充分に耐え得る工夫がなされている。つまり、本例の接地体1における地面への主な接地部分は接地体1の最下端部を構成する本体2の周壁部10の下端部であるが、この部位は地面への接地頻度の低い被覆部9の肉厚よりも厚肉にされた耐磨耗部17とされている。したがって、本例の接地体1では上記肉厚の比較的厚い耐磨耗部17で地面に摺接することとなり、接地体1の耐用年数を格段に向上することができたのである。ここで、接地体1に耐磨耗部17のような特定部位に厚肉部分を形成するのは、耐磨耗部17を有した本体2が樹脂製であるから容易に行うことができたものである。
また、切断作業時の回転刃26には切断する草木等から負荷や衝撃がかかるのであり、この負荷や衝撃は回転刃26の刈払機20への取付部分へのストレスとなる。しかして、回転刃26の刈払機20への取付部分には上記回転刃26にかかる負荷や衝撃に耐え得るような構造が必要とされる。本例の回転刃26の刈払機20への取付構造は叙述のように接地体1の取付板3と刃受け25との挟持での回転刃26の固定構造であり、つまり接地体1には取付板3に回転刃26からの負荷や衝撃がかかるのであるが、取付板3は靭性等の機械的強度に優れた金属製であるためにクラック等の破損の恐れはなく、取付板3の駆動軸23への取付状態の維持、ひいては回転刃26の固定維持が確保されている。更に言うと、叙述したように取付板3は本体2に対して抜け止め突起14による上方への抜け防止や廻り止め突起15による廻り防止が施された状態で強固に固着されたものであるから、接地体1の本体2と取付板3との固着強度には上記取付板3にかかる負荷や衝撃に対する耐強度も充分に備えられている。
