Description
【0001】
【0045】
Δ(i,j)=pvn(i,j)−od(i,j)
…(5)
【0046】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a data compression method and a data compression apparatus. The present invention also relates to a computed tomography apparatus having this data compression apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In order to compress a collection of data, it is conventionally known as a difference method that each data except for the head data is represented by a difference from the previous data.
A prediction difference method is also known in which prediction data is calculated from previous data and the data is compressed using a difference between the prediction data and actual data in order to reduce the difference value.
[0003]
[Patent Document 1]
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-127616
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in the prediction difference method, when the data changes nonlinearly, the value of the difference between the prediction data and the actual data becomes large. When the difference value becomes large, there arises a disadvantage that the size of the data after compression is hardly different from the size of the data before compression.
[0005]
For example, in X-ray CT, the radius of the ribs is significantly different from other parts of the subject. When acquiring projection data by rotating a plurality of channels around a rotation axis orthogonal to a certain cross section of the subject as in the X-ray CT apparatus described above, X-rays that have passed through a part other than the ribs in a certain channel Immediately after the projection data is acquired, a state occurs in which the projection data of the X-rays that have passed through the ribs are acquired. At this time, the projection data changes nonlinearly, and even if the prediction difference method is used, the value of the difference regarding the projection data cannot be reduced, and it is difficult to improve the compression rate for the projection data. It was.
As described above, when the data is acquired by a plurality of channels, it is difficult to improve the compression rate of each data by the conventional prediction difference method using only data related to one channel, and the entire data It was difficult to increase the compression ratio.
[0006]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a data compression method and a data compression apparatus capable of increasing the compression rate of the entire data collection with respect to the data collection acquired by a plurality of channels.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a computed tomographic imaging apparatus capable of increasing the compression ratio of the entire collection of projection data with respect to the collection of projection data of the subject obtained from a plurality of channels. It is in.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A data compression method according to a first aspect of the present invention is a method for compressing data periodically obtained from a plurality of channels arranged in a predetermined order, wherein the previous data of the channel is obtained for each of the plurality of channels. In the embodiments described below, projection data acquired by an X-ray CT apparatus is taken as an example of a compression target. However, data that can be compressed by applying the present invention is not limited to projection data in an X-ray CT apparatus.

In the present embodiment, each projection data is compressed using such continuity of projection data between channels.
[0031]
FIG. 3 is a diagram for describing the concept of an example of the data compression method in the present embodiment. In FIG. 3, the horizontal axis represents the view number, and the vertical axis represents the size of the projection data.
In FIG. 3, for example, a plot of projection data of the i-th channel is represented by a circle, and a plot of projection data of the i-1th channel is represented by a square.
[0032]
Here, a method for linearly predicting prediction data used for a difference from actual data from two data will be described as an example.
For example, consider two consecutive channels, i-th channel and i-1th channel. As shown in FIG. 3, the first prediction data relating to the projection data of the j-th view in the i-th channel is linearly calculated from the two projection data of the j-2 and j-1-th views in the i-th channel. Predict and calculate. Let the obtained linear prediction data be pvc.
Also, the first prediction data relating to the projection data of the j-th view in the i-1th channel is linearly predicted from the two projection data of the j-2 and j-1th views in the i-1th channel. calculate. Let the obtained linear prediction data be pvs.
Then, the second prediction data pvn for the jth view in the i-th channel is calculated from the two linear prediction data pvc and pvs.
[0033]
In the
However, in the present embodiment, the second prediction data for a certain channel is generated from the first prediction data for a plurality of channels. Therefore, even when the projection data of the i-th channel changes nonlinearly, the difference de2 between the projection data od and the second prediction data pvn is the first calculated from only the previous projection data of the i-th channel. Is smaller than the difference de1 between the predicted data pvc and the original projection data od.
[0034]
In the description related to FIG. 3, an example in which both the first prediction data and the second prediction data are linearly predicted from two data is shown. However, the first and second prediction data include three or more prediction data. It is also possible to predict nonlinearly from the data.
Hereinafter, the details of the nonlinear prediction calculation will be described, and the data compression procedure in the present embodiment will be summarized.
[0035]

Since there is no difference target for the first view data, the original data is stored as it is in the RAM, for example, as data to be transmitted to the console 10B (step ST3).
[0037]
When data for the second and subsequent views is obtained, the
For example, consider compressing the j-th view data of the i-th channel.
The
[0038]
[Expression 1]
[0039]
In equation (1), od (i, jn) represents the original uncompressed data before the jth view in the i channel. The coefficient α n represents a weight to be given to each of the original data. For example, the coefficient α n is selected so that the sum of all the weights becomes 1 as shown in the equation (2).
The numerical value N representing the number of original data od used for calculating the first prediction data pv (i, j) is as small as possible after the compression of the j-th view data of the i-th channel. Choose as appropriate. When j <N, only available j original data are used.
[0040]
FIG. 2 shows that the first prediction data pv (i, j) represented by ◎ is calculated from the previous data represented by ◯ in the i channel.
Similar calculations are performed for the other channels to form the same jth view, i.e., the first set of prediction data for the same period.
[0041]
The second prediction unit 17 calculates second prediction data pvn (i, j) related to the j-th view of the i-th channel, for example, by the following equation (step ST5).
[0042]
[Expression 2]
[0043]
In equation (3), the coefficient β m represents the weight to be given to each of the first prediction data used for the calculation of the second prediction data pvn (i, j). For example, as shown in equation (4) Are selected so that the sum of all weights is 1.
A numerical value M representing the number of first prediction data pv used in the calculation in Expression (3) is appropriately selected so that the compressed size of the j-th view data of the i-th channel is as small as possible. For example, in the case of M = 1, as shown in FIG. 2, the second prediction is performed using the first prediction data pv of the i−1 and i + 1th channels on both sides of the ith channel in the same jth view. Predicted data pvn (i, j) is calculated.
When the number of first prediction data pv that can be obtained is equal to or less than the numerical value M, the second prediction data is calculated using only the obtained first prediction data pv.
[0044]
After the calculation of the second prediction data pvn (i, j), the
In FIG. 2, the difference data is represented by a Δ mark.
[0045]
[Equation 3]
Δ (i, j) = pvn (i, j) −od (i, j)
... (5)
[0046]
The
When the value of the difference data Δ (i, j) is larger than the threshold value, the process proceeds to step ST3, and the
Only when the value of the difference data Δ (i, j) is equal to or smaller than the threshold value, the
[0047]
Saving the difference data Δ (i, j) as data to be transmitted to the console 10B only when the value of the difference data Δ (i, j) is equal to or smaller than a predetermined threshold represents the difference data Δ (i, j). This is to prevent an increase in the number of bits for preventing the increase in the specifications required for the
Further, by suppressing the number of bits for representing the difference data Δ (i, j), the transmission speed of the difference data Δ (i, j) to the console 10B increases.
[0048]
After calculating the difference with the second prediction data for one original data, it is determined whether there is the next original data for which the difference is to be calculated (step ST9).
The above-described processing from step ST2 to step ST8 is repeated for all original data.
[0049]
The compression process ends when the processes of steps ST2 to 8 are performed on all original data (step ST10).
Except for the original projection data of the first view, the data stored after the difference calculation with the second prediction data is the compressed data. The obtained compressed data is transmitted from the
[0050]
As described above, in the present embodiment, prediction data used for difference calculation is calculated using not only the relationship between views but also the relationship between channels. For this reason, it becomes possible to cope with non-linear changes in data. As a result, it can be expected that the accuracy of prediction is improved and the value of difference data is reduced. Since the value of the difference data becomes smaller than the threshold and the number of original data that can be compressed increases, the compression rate of the original data as a whole is improved.
Further, if N ≧ 3 and M ≧ 1 in the equations (1) and (3), respectively, the first and second prediction data are predicted and calculated nonlinearly. As a result, the accuracy of prediction can be improved and the value of difference data can be reduced.
Since the value of the difference data can be reduced, the capacity of storage means such as a RAM for storing the compressed data can be reduced, and the transfer speed of the compressed data is also improved.
[0051]
In addition, conditions, such as a structure in the said embodiment, various numerical values, a type | formula, are examples for demonstrating this invention, and this invention is not limited to said embodiment.
For example, in order to obtain projection data, not only X-rays but also other radiation such as γ rays may be used. Further, the present invention is suitable not only for projection data in a CT apparatus but also for other data as long as it is data obtained periodically from a plurality of channels and has a certain degree of continuity between each period and each channel. Can be applied to.
In the above embodiment, only one detector array 7 is used. However, the present invention can also be applied to data obtained by a detection device in which a plurality of detector arrays 7 are arranged in the z direction. . In this case, for example, the compression method of the above-described embodiment may be applied to each set of data from one detector array 7.
Further, instead of handling each projection data and prediction data in units of R × Q collections, for example, it may be a form in which sequential projection data is obtained in view units and sequential difference calculation is performed. .
Further, the number of bits for representing the difference data may be varied according to the size of the difference data. In this case, the compression rate tends to increase for each piece of projection data, and the compression rate of the entire collection of projection data can be further improved.
[0052]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a data compression method and a data compression apparatus capable of increasing the compression rate of the entire data collection with respect to the data collection acquired by a plurality of channels. Can do.
In addition, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a computed tomography apparatus capable of increasing the compression ratio of the entire collection of projection data with respect to the collection of projection data of the subject obtained from a plurality of channels. .
