前記した従来の大型重量物の地中への設置方法にあっては、次のような問題点がある。
<イ>竪坑の掘削と、大型で重量のある大型重量物の吊り下ろし作業とを平行して行うことができない。そのために全体の工期が長くなる。
<ロ>大型の大型重量物を吊り下ろすクレーンや油圧ジャッキには特殊な専用機器が必要であり、不経済である。
<ハ>大型で重量のある廃棄物を、深い地中に吊り下ろす作業は危険であり、そのための十分な対策が必要である。

上記のような目的を達成するために、本発明の大型重量物の地中への設置方法は、シールド掘進機あるいはトンネルボーリングマシンである掘削機械の回転掘削刃を下向きにして地表面に設置し、前記掘削機械の内部あるいは上部には設置対象とする大型重量物を設置し、前記掘削機械の下向きの掘削刃の回転によって地盤を掘削して、自重および前記大型重量物の重量によって下降し、一定の深度まで下降したら掘進跡の周囲に反力を取って、前記掘削機械の掘進によって前記掘削機械と上部の前記大型重量物を地中に進入させ、所定の深度に達したら掘進を終了し、その後に掘進跡埋め戻し行う、大型重量物の地中への設置方法を特徴としたものである。
