Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a heavy duty pneumatic tire mounted on a heavy vehicle such as a dump truck, and more particularly to a heavy duty pneumatic tire excellent in stone biting characteristics.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Generally, in heavy-duty pneumatic tires, the grooves are formed relatively deep on the tread surface. When traveling on gravel roads or quarries, stones on the road surface are caught in the grooves, and the tread portion is caused by this stone biting. It is easy to damage the belt layer embedded in.
[0003]
Therefore, conventionally, in order to prevent such stone biting, for example, as shown in FIG. 3, the main groove 4 extending in the tire circumferential direction has a V-shaped cross section, or the side wall of the main groove 4 as shown in FIG. The upper
[0004]
However, even if the main groove 4 has a V-shaped cross section, the main groove 4 has a funnel cross section, or a step is provided on the side wall of the main groove 4, it is still insufficient as a measure for preventing stone biting. there were.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to provide a heavy-duty pneumatic tire that has improved resistance to stone biting and improved durability of the belt portion.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention relates to a heavy-duty pneumatic tire having a plurality of grooves provided on a tread surface to partition a land portion, and an upper side wall portion that expands outward in the tire radial direction to open the tread surface and the upper portion. And a lower side wall portion that extends outward in the tire radial direction adjacent to the side wall portion and forms a groove bottom portion, and has a zigzag shape in the tire radial direction groove cross-sectional shape of the lower side wall portion, The depth of the side wall portion is 75% or less of the groove depth of the groove .
[0007]
By making the tire radial direction cross-sectional shape of the lower side wall portion of the groove provided on the tread surface in this way zigzag shape, even if it bites the stone once, As a result, the biting stone is easily removed, and damage to the tread portion or the belt layer is reduced. As a result, durability of the belt portion of the heavy duty pneumatic tire can be improved.
[0008]
Here, the “groove” refers to a main groove formed over the circumference of the tire in the tire circumferential direction and / or a lateral groove extending in the tire width direction. The groove width of this groove may be 5 mm to 20 mm, and the groove depth may be 5 mm to 20 mm.
[0009]

【Example】
Although the tire size 11R22.5 and the tread pattern formed on the tread surface were made common, the tires of the present invention and the conventional tires 1 to 3 having different groove cross-sectional shapes of the main grooves were manufactured. However, the width W 1 of the main groove was 14.2 mm, and the depth D of the main groove was 19.5 mm. These tires were evaluated for stone biting performance as follows. The results are shown in Table 1.

For the main groove 4, the cross-sectional shape of both side walls is an overall saw blade shape, two zigzag ridges are arranged at a depth of 19.5 mm and a pitch of about 6 mm, the ridge height is 2 mm, and the inclination angle α is 15 .2 °.
[0021]
Evaluation method for stone-biting performance :
Two of these tires were mounted on the front of the truck, and after traveling about 3km on a gravel road, traveling about 5km on a paved road, measuring the number of stone bites on the tread surface of each tire, the value obtained Was evaluated as an index with the conventional tire 1 as 100. The larger the index value, the better the stone biting performance.
[0022]
[Table 1]
As can be seen from Table 1, it can be seen that the tire of the present invention is superior in stone-resisting performance as compared with the conventional tires 1 to 3.
[0023]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, in a heavy-duty pneumatic tire in which a plurality of grooves are provided on a tread surface to partition a land portion, the grooves are expanded outward in the tire radial direction and opened to the tread surface. The upper side wall portion and the lower side wall portion that expands outward in the tire radial direction and forms the groove bottom portion adjacent to the upper side wall portion and zigzags the tire radial direction groove cross-sectional shape of the lower side wall portion In addition, since the depth of the lower side wall portion is set to 75% or less of the groove depth of the groove, it is possible to effectively suppress the stone biting in the groove.
