Description
The present invention relates to a printing apparatus that can perform double-sided printing with a reversing conveyance path, and more particularly to a double-sided printing apparatus that improves operating efficiency by suppressing idling of a reversing roller.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as a double-sided printing apparatus provided with a reversing conveyance path, a power type that drives a reversing roller using a driving force of a paper feed roller is known (Patent Document 1). In this type of device, a planetary gear mechanism is used to transmit power from the paper feed roller to the reversing roller, so that the reversing roller can be operated in either the forward or reverse driving state. It is configured to rotate in the direction.
However, since the reversing roller always rotates while the paper feed roller is driven in the duplex printing apparatus, the reversing roller is kept idle even during surface printing, which does not originally require rotation of the reversing roller. Therefore, the load on the drive mechanism of the paper feed roller is large, and the loss of drive energy that should not be necessary is not negligible.
The present invention provides a power-type double-sided printing apparatus that drives a reversing roller by using a driving force of a paper feed roller, and that has a high power efficiency and suppresses idling of the reversing roller as much as possible. It is the purpose.
In order to solve the above-described problem, a first aspect of the present invention is to combine a paper feeding conveyance path and a reversing conveyance path having a reversing roller before the print head, and a common conveyance path following the merge portion. The front surface is printed by passing the paper from the paper feed conveyance path through the paper feed roller through the paper feed roller to the print head portion, the paper is reversely fed and reversed in the reverse conveyance path, and then the print head again. And a power transmission mechanism that drives the reversing roller using a driving force of the paper feed roller, and the power transmission mechanism causes the reversing roller to be at least During the surface printing, the driving force is not transmitted and the rotation stop state is maintained, and the driving is performed after the start of the reverse operation after the surface printing is completed.
According to this feature, in the double-sided printing apparatus including a power transmission mechanism that drives the reversing roller by using the driving force of the paper feed roller, the reversing roller is triggered by the reverse rotation of the paper feed roller after the surface printing is finished. Therefore, the driving of the reversing roller can be substantially stopped at the time of surface printing, so that the power efficiency can be improved and the energy can be saved. Further, since the load on the drive mechanism of the paper feed roller can be reduced, it has an effect of preventing failure and shortening of the product life.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect described above, the substantial driving state of the reversing roller is maintained until the trailing edge of the sheet is at least removed from the reversing roller during back surface printing. .
According to this feature, the same effect as that of the first aspect described above can be obtained, and the substantial driving state of the reversing roller can be maintained at least until the time when the conveying operation of the reversing roller is completed. Thus, the idling time can be minimized while ensuring the operation of the reversing roller. Here, “substantially driven state” means a temporarily stationary state of the reversing roller that occurs when the paper feed roller is switched from normal rotation to reverse rotation, or a short stationary state that results from a time lag when switching the planetary mechanism. Is also included in the driving state.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect or the second aspect described above, the power transmission mechanism causes the reversing roller to move forward regardless of whether the paper feed roller is in the forward rotation or reverse drive state. A planetary mechanism for rotating and a lock mechanism for maintaining power transmission by the planetary mechanism from the paper feed roller to the reversing roller in a non-transmitting state during surface printing are provided.
According to this feature, the lock mechanism acts on the power transmission path by the planetary mechanism and locks the power transmission in the non-transmission state, so that the structure of the lock mechanism can be simplified.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the third aspect described above, the lock mechanism is configured such that at least the paper feed roller is reversely rotated and the reverse roller is forwardly rotated during the reverse printing operation process from the start of the reverse operation. When the planetary mechanism shifts from the first connected state to the second connected state where the paper feed roller rotates normally and the reversing roller rotates normally, the unlocked state is taken.
According to this feature, the planetary mechanism only needs to be in the unlocked state at the time of transition from the first connected state to the second connected state, so that complicated control is not necessary, and the lock mechanism is configured with a simple configuration. Can be switched.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the fourth aspect described above, the switching to the unlocked state is performed by a reversing flap that is swingably provided on a reversing roller portion of the reversing conveyance path. It is characterized by that.
According to this feature, by using the reversing flap as the switching means from the locked state to the unlocked state, it is not necessary to provide a special mechanism as the switching means, and the apparatus structure can be prevented from becoming complicated. In addition, since the switching means corresponds to the progress of the paper in the transport path, it is possible to accurately switch from the locked state to the unlocked state with a simple mechanism.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the fifth aspect described above, the reversing flap is swung by a feeding force of a sheet passing through the reversing conveyance path.
According to this feature, since the reversing flap can be switched from the locked state to the unlocked state by the paper feed force, it is not necessary to provide a special operation mechanism, and the efficiency of the device structure can be improved. Can do.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, in any one of the third to sixth aspects described above, the planetary mechanism includes a planetary gear and a planetary lever that holds the planetary gear. The lock mechanism includes a projection portion that can be interlocked with the planetary gear, and the lock mechanism swings about the shaft portion and locks by contacting the projection portion at a free end thereof. And the planetary mechanism is locked in a state where the free end of the lock lever and the protrusion come into contact with each other by the forward and backward movement of the protrusion into the swinging locus of the lock lever. When the transmission is cut off and the non-transmission state is established, and the free end of the lock lever is not in contact with the projection, the planetary mechanism is unlocked and the power from the paper feed roller is transmitted to the reversing roller. , After the front and rear end of printing, by slightly reverse the paper feed roller, and performing a reset from the unlocked state to the locked state.
According to this feature, the operation of the planetary mechanism can be used as it is because the projection is moved back and forth into the rocking locus of the lock lever so that the operation of the planetary mechanism can be used as it is, and the lock can be achieved with a simple configuration. Switching between the state and the unlocked state can be performed.

In the above configuration, the pair of the
On the other hand, in the double-sided printing apparatus, a sheet feeding roller provided with a
As shown in FIG. 1, the reversing

Further, a flap (first flap) 10 is disposed at the
Further, a notch (not shown) is provided in a slit shape from the front end side in a direction orthogonal to the shaft 11 on one side in the width direction of the
Next, the conveying operation in the duplex printing apparatus will be described with reference to FIG. The printing apparatus according to the present embodiment sends the sheet S from the paper
The double-sided printing apparatus includes a power transmission mechanism that drives the reversing
The power transmission mechanism includes a planetary mechanism that rotates the reversing
In other words, in this embodiment, the reversing
Next, the locking mechanism of the present invention will be described. FIG. 8 and FIG. 9 are main part perspective views showing an example of the locking mechanism of the present invention.
The lock mechanism includes a lock lever 111 that locks the planetary mechanism by swinging a free end 111a around the
FIG. 8 shows that the locking mechanism is in the locked state. In a state where there is no sheet S passing through the reversing
FIG. 9 shows an unlocked state. In a state where the sheet S passes through the reversing
FIGS. 3 to 6 are developed train wheel diagrams showing an example of a power transmission mechanism used in the double-sided printing apparatus of the present invention. In the figure, the lock mechanism and the switching mechanism switching mechanism (reversing flap 90) are shown. The state is shown schematically. This power transmission mechanism includes gears A, B, and C for transmitting a driving force from the

FIG. 3 shows the state of the power transmission mechanism at the time of surface printing. At this time, the lock lever 111 is in the locked position, and the planetary mechanism is in the locked state. At the time of surface printing, the

In FIG. 5, the sheet S is conveyed in the reversing
FIG. 6 shows the state of the power transmission mechanism when the reversed paper S reaches the
As described above, the locking mechanism of the double-sided printing apparatus according to the present invention has a first connection in which at least the
Next, the reset operation of the lock mechanism of the present invention will be described. At the time of reverse side printing, when the rear end of the reversed sheet S is removed from the reversing
Based on the above description, the operation state in one embodiment of the double-sided printing apparatus of the present invention will be described based on the timing chart of FIG. First, when the paper S sent by the rotation of the
Next, when the trailing edge of the paper S exits the
Subsequently, as the conveyance of the sheet S advances due to the reverse rotation of the
When the conveyance of the paper S further proceeds, the paper S passes through the
When the back side printing proceeds and the trailing edge of the paper S has passed through the reversing
According to the present invention, in the double-sided printing apparatus provided with the power transmission mechanism that drives the reversing roller using the driving force of the paper feed roller, the reversing roller is driven after the reversing operation is started after the front surface printing is finished. Therefore, idling of the reversing roller can be minimized and power efficiency can be improved and energy can be saved. Further, since the load on the drive mechanism of the paper feed roller can be reduced, it is possible to prevent failure and shortening of the product life.
