【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、超伝導マグネット装置に関し、特に、ヘリウム・フリー・マグネットの超伝導装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来のヘリウム・フリー・マグネット(Helium Free Magnet)構造について説明する。液体ヘリウム(Liquid Helium)を用いない超伝導マグネットは、「ヘリウム・フリー・マグネット(HFM)」と呼ばれている。図3は、従来のヘリウム・フリー・マグネット(HFM)(伝導冷却高磁界超伝導マグネット)の構成を模式的に示す図である。

図3を参照すると、従来のヘリウム・フリー・マグネット(HFM)は、GM(ギフォード・マクマフォン式)冷凍機30によって超伝導マグネット11が伝導冷却されて、低温に保持されているシステムであり、全体は、クライオスタット10の中にある。このシステムは高温超伝導体(HTS)13が開発されたことによって実用化されている。ヘリウム・フリー・マグネット(HFM)は、高温超伝導体(HTS)13の低熱伝導率の特徴を利用している。超伝導マグネット11を収容するクライオスタット10と、GM冷凍機30と、電源40と、ヘリウム圧縮機50と、を備え、クライオスタット10内において、超伝導マグネット11の超伝導素線12が高温超伝導体13を介して銅リード14の一端に接続され、銅リード14の他端はターミナル(電源端子)20に接続されている。ターミナル20は、クライオスタット10の上面(壁)等に設けられた貫通孔に気密に配設されており、常温側で電源40の+端子と−端子にそれぞれ接続されている。

GM冷凍機30は、通常2段式のシステムが利用されている。その理由は、単段では、到達温度が40K程度で超伝導マグネット11にとって温度が高すぎるからである。このため、1段目31に、高温超伝導体(HTS)13の高温端を熱的に接続し(電気的には絶縁されている)、2段目32に、高温超伝導体(HTS)13の低温端を接続すると同時に、超伝導マグネット11に当接して、超伝導マグネット11を低温に保持する。

超伝導マグネット11からの熱、及び、高温超伝導体(HTS)13の両端部からの熱は、2段構成のGM冷凍機30において、2段目32、1段目31で、矢線で示す熱流として、GM冷凍機30側に吸熱される。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、図3に示した装置では、非通電時、電源ターミナル20から熱が低温側に銅リード14を伝わって侵入し、冷却効率が低下する。

したがって、本発明は、電源ターミナルから熱が低温側に銅リードを伝わって侵入することを抑止・低減し、冷却効率を向上する装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記目的を達成する本発明の1つのアスペクト(側面)に従う装置は、 超伝導マグネットを収容するクライオスタットと、前記超伝導マグネットを伝導冷却する冷凍機と、前記クライオスタットの壁を貫通して気密に設けられており、端子の両端が、常温側と前記クライオスタット内の低温側とにそれぞれ位置し、熱電変換素子が配設されているターミナルと、を備え、前記クライオスタット内において、前記超伝導マグネットを構成する超伝導素線は、高温超伝導体を介して、銅リードの一端に接続され、前記冷凍機の1段目は、前記高温超伝導体の高温側に熱的に接続され、前記冷凍機の2段目は、前記高温超伝導体の低温側及び前記超伝導マグネットに熱的に接続されて、冷却を行うものである。前記ターミナルは、常温側の第1の電極と、低温側の第2の電極と、常温側の第3の電極と、低温側の第4の電極と、を有し、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極とが第1導電型の第1の熱電変換素子を介して接続され、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極がともに棒状部材よりなり、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極のそれぞれの長手方向の少なくとも一部を収容するハウジングを備え、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極は、前記ハウジング内で支持部材を介して支持されており、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極の端部同士がそれぞれ前記第1の熱電変換素子を介して接続され、前記ターミナルの前記第2の電極は前記銅リードの他端に接続され、前記クライオスタット外部の常温側の前記ターミナルの前記第1の電極は、前記クライオスタット外部に設けられている電源に接続される。前記第3の電極と前記第4の電極とが第2導電型の第2の熱電変換素子を介して接続され、前記第3の電極と前記第4の電極がともに棒状部材よりなり、前記第3の電極と前記第4の電極のそれぞれの長手方向の少なくとも一部を収容するハウジングを備え、前記第3の電極と前記第4の電極は、前記ハウジング内で支持部材を介して支持されており、前記第3の電極と前記第4の電極の端部同士がそれぞれ前記第2の熱電変換素子を介して接続され、前記ターミナルの前記第4の電極は電流リターン側の銅リードに接続され、前記クライオスタット外部の常温側の前記ターミナルの前記第3の電極は、前記クライオスタット外部に設けられている前記電源に接続される。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態について説明する。図1は、本発明の第1の実施の形態の構成を示す図である。本発明の第1の実施の形態においては、超伝導マグネット11を収容するクライオスタット10と、GM(ギフォード・マクマフォン式)冷凍機30と、電源40と、ヘリウム圧縮機50と、を備え、クライオスタット10内において、超伝導マグネット11の超伝導素線12が高温超伝導体13を介して銅リード14の一端に接続され、銅リード14の他端は、低温側からの吸熱を行うペルチェ素子として機能する熱電変換素子15を介してターミナル20Aに接続されている。常温側で、ターミナル20Aは、電源40の+端子、−端子(不図示)に接続されている。

ターミナル20Aは、クライオスタット10の上面(壁)を貫通して気密に設けられており、熱電変換素子15は、例えばターミナル20Aのクライオスタット10内にまで延在して取り付けられている。

GM冷凍機30の1段目31は、高温超伝導体13の高温側に熱的に接続され、GM冷凍機30の2段目32は、高温超伝導体13の低温側に熱的に接続されている。

このように、本実施の形態においては、ヘリウム・フリー・マグネット構造を備え、電源ターミナル20A側から、熱が低温側に、銅リード14を伝わって入ることを低減するために、熱電変換素子15を取り付けている。ターミナル20Aは、第1、第2の電極端子を有し、常温側の第1の電極端子は、電源40の+端子(不図示)に接続され、電源40より電流を導入し、第1の電極端子からの電流を第2の電極端子より、銅リード14に供給し、第3、第4の電極端子を有し、第4の電極端子が電流リターン側の銅リード14に接続され、リターン電流を第3の電極端子から電源40の−端子(不図示)に返し、第1及び第2の電極端子、第3及び第4の電極端子間に、熱電変換素子15が接続される構成とされる。

本発明の一実施例として、電源ターミナル20Aの構成の一例について、図4を参照して説明しておく。なお、図4には、二芯の構成が示されているが、単芯の構成にも適用できることは勿論である。熱電半導体としては、P型とN型の2種の半導体が用いられる。単芯の構成において、電流導入端子の場合、N型の熱電半導体、電流を電源側に出力する端子の場合、P型の熱電半導体が用いられる。

図4において、1A、1BはN型、P型熱電半導体であり、2は本体(ハウジング)、3A、3Bは電流導入端子の常温側の電極、5A、5Bは電流導入端子の低温側の電極である。6は支持部材(サポート)、7は絶縁体(電気的に絶縁、熱伝導体)、8はボルト、9は、電流導入端子取りつけ用のフランジであり、100は、フランジ9をクライオスタット等(不図示)へ取りつけるためのボルト用の穴である。フランジ9は、空冷フィン又は水冷パイプ等の冷却手段を備え、放熱効果の増大を図るようにしてもよい。電極5A、5Bに、銅リード14(図1参照)を接続し、電極3A、3Bは電源40の+(高位側電源)端子と−(低位側電源)端子にそれぞれ接続する。電流が常温側から低温側に導入される場合、電極3Aには、N型熱電半導体1Aを接続する。また低温側から常温側に電流が流れる場合、電極3Bには、P型熱電半導体1Bを接続する。かかる構成とすることで、低温側への熱侵入を低減する。

二つの熱電半導体1A、1Bは、二芯の電極のそれぞれに設けられ、導電型(極性)が相違している。熱電半導体1A、1Bは、電極3Aと5Aの間、電極3Bと5Bの間に配設されている。熱電半導体1A、1Bの両端は電気的なコンタクト部材101A、102Aと101B、102Bが設けられている。

熱電半導体1A、1Bは、熱絶縁を行うものであり、電極低温側が、他の常温部分に接触しないような構成とされる。

ターミナルにおいて、常温側と、低温側と向き合う表面に、例えばアルミニウムをコーティングすることで、熱輻射を低減する構成としてもよい。アルミニウム板(熱輻射板)をハウジング2内の常温側と低温側の間に設け、電極(3A、3B、5A、5B)と電気的に絶縁させて設けてもよい。

また熱電半導体1A、1Bは、電極3A、3B、電極5A、5Bに半田付け等で接続するため、接続部分に応力が加わって接続不良とならないように支持される。図1に示す例では、ハウジング2、フランジ9に対して支持ボルト6で固定されるサポート8に設けられた穴に、電極5A、5Bが挿通されて支持されている。支持ボルト6としては例えばステンレス、サポート8は、ガラス材等、いずれも、熱伝導率が低く、且つ電気的絶縁部材が用いられる。

常温側に露出する電極3Bは、熱電半導体1Bによって低温側から熱が運びこまれるため、好ましくは、熱放散を考慮した構造とする。例えば棒状の電極3には、その外周を覆って、電極3A、3Bよりも大きな径の電極4A、4Bが取り付けられており、熱容量を大きくしている。そして、電極4A、4Bは、電極3A、3Bより電極4A、4Bに伝達された熱をハウジング2に伝え、さらにフランジ9に容易に伝達する構成とされる。

常温側電極(3A、3B)と低温側電極(5A、5B)は電気的に絶縁されるため、互いに電気的絶縁物を介して接合され、本体(ハウジング)2(後述するようにアルミよりなる)との間にも、電気的絶縁層7が介在している。この電気的絶縁層7は、ベリリア、窒化アルミニウム等の熱伝導率の良好なセラミック材よりなり、できるだけ薄く設けられている。

フランジ9は、通常はステンレス製とされるが、この実施例では、熱放散を考慮して、熱伝導率の良好なアルミニウムよりなる。あるいは、電気的な絶縁を図る構成として上で、フランジ9は銅で構成してもよい。

上記のような構成により、電流の向きと、熱電半導体との組み合わせにより、熱を常温側に放散させ(冷却作用)、低温側への熱進入を抑制する電源ターミナル(current terminal)を実現できた。

なお、図4は、熱電変換素子15を備えたターミナル構成の一例を示したものであり、熱電変換素子15を備えたものであれば、図4の構成に限定されるものではないことは勿論である。なお、熱電半導体等の熱電変換素子15を備えたターミナルについては、例えば特願2002−010628号(本願出願時未公開)に詳述されている。

その一つは、熱電変換素子15は、熱伝導率が低いために、熱抵抗が上昇し、非通電時の熱侵入が低減される。

図2は、本発明の第2の実施の形態の構成を示す図である。この第2の実施の形態においては、ペルチェ素子を備えたヘリウム・フリー・マグネット構造に、ジュール・トムソン弁(JT弁)を利用した冷却器(JT クーラー)21をターミナル20Bに備えたものであり、ターミナル20Bにも、ターミナル20Bのクライオスタット10内に熱電変換素子15を備えることによって、常温側のターミナルには熱が輸送されてくる。JT弁を備えた冷却器(熱交換器)21では、圧縮した気体(ガス)を細い開口より、広い空間に噴出す構成とされ、気体の堆積の変化によって内部エネルギーが変化するため、気体の温度が変化するというジュール・トムソン効果を利用し、冷却が行われる。

熱電変換素子を具備しない場合、放熱量は、0.53mW/Aとなるが、熱電変換素子15の組み込み方で、65mW/Aから約200mW/Aまでとなる。

熱を除去するために、JT弁を利用したJT冷却器21を、ターミナル20Bに組み込んで冷却する。このための圧縮ヘリウムガスは、ヘリウム圧縮機50から供給される。

JT冷却器21の他にも、例えば通常の水冷却器をターミナル20A(図1参照)に取り付け、水を、ターミナル20Aとの間で循環させることによって、ペルチェ素子15で発生した熱を取り除く構成としてもよい。

超伝導マグネットによって発生する磁場方向を反転させるために、通電方向を逆にする必要がある。この場合、例えば、図1、図2の熱電変換素子15(ペルチェ素子)に逆方向に電流を流すと、熱が低温側に輸送されることになり、低温系への熱侵入を増大させる。そこで、本発明の別の実施の形態においては、図1、図2の熱電変換素子15の低温側に切替えスイッチ(不図示)を配置して、極性を変更自在とする構成としてもよい。例えば金属でp型半導体とn型半導体をπ型に接合したサーモジュールにおいて、n電極(n型半導体)からp電極(p型半導体)へ電流を流すと、共通接合部で吸熱となり、逆方向に電流を流すと、共通接合部で発熱となる。このため、超伝導マグネット11を構成するコイル(超伝導素線)12の一端に接続する第1の銅リードと、コイル(超伝導素線)12の他端に接続する第2の銅リードと、電源40の+端子(不図示)側に電気的に接続される第1の熱電変換素子と、電源40の−端子(不図示)側に電気的に接続される第2の熱電変換素子との間に、切替スイッチを備え、この切替スイッチは、第1の通電方向では、第1の熱電変換素子と第1の銅リード、第2の熱電変換素子と第2の銅リードを接続し、第2の通電方向では、第1の熱電変換素子と第2の銅リード、第2の熱電変換素子と第1の銅リードを接続するように、切替えを行う構成とされる。かかる構成により、超伝導マグネットでの磁場方向の反転のために通電方向を変えた(超伝導コイルの電流の流れる向きが逆転する)場合にも、電源40より電流を導入する電極は、常に、n電極とされ、n電極からp電極へ電流を流すように設定され、逆方向の通電においても、低温側からの吸熱が行われる。

本発明の第2の実施の形態においては、熱電変換素子15(ペルチェ素子)により低温側からくみ出された熱を処理するために、JT冷却器21等の冷却手段によってターミナル(電極)20Bを冷却している。ターミナル(電極)20Bには、電源ケーブル(銅ケーブル)が接続されている。このため、冷却手段によるターミナル20Bの冷却によって温度が下がると、電源ケーブルも冷却することになる。したがって、銅ケーブルと、ターミナル20A、20Bとを、電気的には接続し、熱的に絶縁することが好ましい。そこで、本実施の形態において、ターミナル20Bと、電源ケーブルの間に、電気的には接続し、熱的に絶縁するための、熱電材料(不図示)が介挿される構成とされる。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、本発明によれば、ターミナルに熱電変換素子を備え、電源ターミナルからの銅リードへの熱侵入を非通電時の熱侵入を低減するとともに、通電によって、熱電変換素子のペルチェ効果により、熱を低温側から高温側に組み上げることによって、更に熱侵入を低減することができ、冷却効率を向上する。
