Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a rewritable image display medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, display media such as Twisting Ball Display (two-color coated particle rotation display), electrophoresis, magnetophoresis, thermal rewritable media, and liquid crystal with memory properties are known as sheet-like image display media that can be rewritten repeatedly. It has been.
[0003]
In particular, the liquid crystal display panel has advantages in that the thickness (depth) can be remarkably reduced as compared with other display devices, power consumption is small, and full color is easy. There is also great expectation for larger screens.
[0004]
However, when the screen is increased in size with a liquid crystal display panel, dot missing such as several dots in the screen not appearing easily occurs. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, a plurality of liquid crystal display panels are connected to form one liquid crystal display panel as a whole, thereby increasing the size of the screen. In such a case, an edge portion of each liquid crystal display panel is generated in the large screen, and it becomes a problem to keep the edge portion as small as possible.
[0005]
Moreover, in order to satisfy high definition on a large screen, a large amount of pixels are handled. However, when pixel driving such as TFT is used, the amount of transistors becomes enormous.
[0006]
On the other hand, in an image display medium having a memory property, since it is not always necessary to drive, a configuration IC can be reduced. For these reasons, a simple matrix image display panel is used as a large-screen image display medium.
[0007]
However, when this simple matrix type is used, since a stripe electrode is required for the display substrate, a member for applying a voltage to the electrode needs to be laid outside the image area. That is, as shown in FIG. 8, a region around the
[0008]
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 9, in order to keep the frame small, the

[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In consideration of the above facts, an object of the present invention is to provide an image display medium capable of high-definition display and minimizing the frame.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, an image display medium of the present invention according to claim 1 includes a translucent display substrate, a back substrate disposed to face the display substrate, and the display substrate side. A plurality of display side electrodes arranged along one direction, a plurality of back side electrodes arranged along the direction orthogonal to the one direction on the back substrate side, and between the display substrate and the back substrate In addition, a spacer member forming a predetermined gap, a particle group enclosed between the spacer members and moving by an applied electric field, one end connected to the display-side electrode, and the other end connected to the spacer member and the back surface A first conductive member that passes through the substrate and is wired to the back surface of the back substrate; one end connected to the back side electrode; and the other end is wired to the back surface of the back substrate through the back substrate. Two conductive members, and To have.
[0012]
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the other end of the first conducting member, one end of which is connected to the display-side electrode, passes through the spacer member and the back substrate and is wired to the back surface of the back substrate, and the other end is the back surface. The other end of the second conductive member connected to the side electrode penetrates the back substrate and is wired to the back surface of the back substrate. As a result, an electric field is applied to the display-side electrode and the back-side electrode, and a group of particles enclosed between the spacer members moves between the display substrate and the back-side substrate to form a desired image on the display substrate. .
[0013]
Here, since the first conductive member passes through the spacer member and the back substrate and reaches the back surface of the back substrate, it is not necessary to remove the first conductive member from the end portion of the display substrate, so that a frame around the conductive member becomes unnecessary. For this reason, a frame can be suppressed to the minimum, and even if a large screen is configured by combining a plurality of image display media, the joint is not conspicuous.
[0014]
The image display medium of the present invention described in claim 2 is characterized in that the first conductive member is included in an insulating spacer member.
[0015]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, wiring from the front surface side electrode to the back surface side of the back substrate is made by the first conducting member included in the insulating spacer member. Thus, by making the spacer member insulative, it is not necessary to cover the first conductive member with an insulating material.
[0016]
The image display medium of the present invention according to claim 3 is characterized in that the particle group is composed of a plurality of types of particles having different colors and characteristics.
[0017]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, a plurality of types of particles having different colors and characteristics are enclosed between the substrates, and each particle moves according to the strength and polarity of the applied electric field. As the particles, insulating particles that are charged by frictional charging may be used, or conductive particles that are charged by injecting charges through electrodes may be used.
[0018]
The image display medium of the present invention according to claim 4 is provided with control means for controlling an electric field supplied from a power source to the display side electrode and the back side electrode according to image information on the back substrate. It is characterized by.
[0019]
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, the control means provided on the back substrate can change the intensity and polarity of the electric field according to the image information, and the image is displayed on the display substrate. This eliminates the need for a separate substrate for attaching the control means, leading to a reduction in the thickness of the image display medium.
[0020]
The image display medium of the present invention described in claim 5 is characterized in that wirings connecting the first conductive member and the second conductive member and the control means are patterned on the back substrate.
[0021]
According to the invention described in claim 5, the wiring connecting the first conductive member and the second conductive member and the control means is patterned on the back substrate, so that it is only necessary to attach an IC or the like as the control means. There is no need for subsequent wiring.
[0022]
The image display medium of the present invention according to claim 6 is disposed along one direction on the display substrate side, a rear substrate disposed opposite to the display substrate, and a display substrate having translucency. A predetermined gap is formed between the plurality of display side electrodes, the plurality of back side electrodes arranged along the direction orthogonal to the one direction on the back substrate side, and the display substrate and the back substrate. a spacer member, is sealed between the spacer members, and particles moved by an applied electric field, with a, by bending the sheet member enmeshed the conduction member to the mesh member, wherein the display of one end of said conductive member It is connected to the side electrode, and the other end is wired on the back surface of the back substrate.
[0023]
According to the invention described in claim 6, since the sheet member enmeshed conduction member in a mesh-like member is bent, one end of the conductive member is connected to the display-side electrode, the other end is wired to the back surface of the rear substrate The As a result, an electric field is applied to the display-side electrode and the back-side electrode, and a group of particles enclosed between the spacer members moves between the display substrate and the back-side substrate to form a desired image on the display substrate. .
[0024]
Further, the mesh portion of the mesh-like sheet member is easily entangled with a conductive member such as a gold foil or an insulating adhesive, and is not damaged even when it is bent. For this reason, even if the display substrate is a glass plate, the frame generated on the display substrate can be reduced by folding it toward the back substrate.
