Description
The present invention relates to a coordinate input device that detects and inputs coordinates of a designated position in a two-dimensional coordinate space.
In recent years, an optical coordinate input device that optically detects the coordinates of an instructed position has been proposed (see, for example,

In this apparatus, when an
θ = θc - arctan(a / f)
However, there is unevenness in the coordinate detection accuracy by the coordinate input device described above. This unevenness will be described.
FIG. 3 is a diagram schematically illustrating a part of the light receiving unit of the
θ = θc-arctan (a / f)
As is clear from the above equation, when the
FIG. 4 is a diagram showing a configuration of an optical coordinate input device disclosed in Patent Document 3. As shown in FIG. The coordinate input device includes a rectangular
In this apparatus, when the
With this apparatus, there is no unevenness in the coordinate detection accuracy.
In order to accurately detect the phase difference in this apparatus, the
FIG. 5 is a diagram showing a configuration of another optical coordinate input device disclosed in Patent Document 3. As shown in FIG. This coordinate input device is detected by a rectangular
In this apparatus, when the
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide a coordinate input device capable of stably detecting coordinates with sufficiently high accuracy.
The present invention includes two optical units that are provided outside a coordinate input surface that is pointed at an arbitrary position on a surface by using an indicator that reflects incident light, and from the optical unit to the indicator. A calculation unit that calculates a position on the coordinate input surface instructed by using the indicator or a coordinate in the vicinity thereof based on the distance and the distance between the optical units. The optical unit includes a light source that emits light that has been intensity-modulated using a signal having a predetermined frequency, a beam splitter that splits the light emitted from the light source into two, and one of the beams that is branched by the beam splitter. A first light receiving unit that receives the light and outputs an electric signal representing a change in the intensity of the light, and the other light branched by the beam splitter is diffused into a fan-shaped sheet, Is diffused along the coordinate input surface, and the reflected light from the indicator with respect to the other light is received through the diffused optical system, and an electric signal representing a change in the intensity of the reflected light is output. A second light-receiving unit, and the calculation unit uses the electrical signal output from the light-receiving unit to change the intensity of light emitted from the light source and reflect light from the indicator with respect to the light A phase difference from the intensity change of the light, a distance from the optical unit having the light receiving unit to the indicator using the phase difference, and an optical path length from the diffusion optical system to the second light receiving unit Provides a coordinate input device characterized in that the optical path length from the beam splitter to the first light receiving section is substantially equal to the length obtained by subtracting the optical path length from the beam splitter to the diffusion optical system.
In this coordinate input device, the optical path length of the reflected light from the indicator to the second light receiving unit is assumed to be incident on the first light receiving unit via the beam splitter. Is approximately equal. Under such circumstances, the phase difference between the intensity change of the light emitted from the light source and the intensity change of the reflected light from the indicator with respect to this light is obtained.
According to the present invention, a plurality of electrical signals used when obtaining a phase difference in the phase comparison unit are synchronized, or a change in intensity of reflected light and reflected light using a plurality of lights having different intensity modulation frequencies. Therefore, the phase difference between the change in the intensity of the irradiated light and the change in the intensity of the reflected light can be determined with high accuracy. Since the distance from the optical unit to the indicator is obtained using this phase difference, and the coordinates are calculated using the obtained distance, according to the present invention, the coordinates of the indicated position or its neighboring positions are sufficiently obtained. It can be detected stably with high accuracy.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. In these drawings, common parts are denoted by the same reference numerals.
[First Embodiment]
6 and 7 are diagrams showing the configuration of the coordinate input device according to the first embodiment of the present invention. As is apparent from FIG. 6, the present apparatus detects a two-dimensional coordinate of a position indicated by using a pen-shaped
This apparatus includes the
The
The
The
P1 = A1・cos(2πft + φ1)
P2 = A2・cos(2πft + φ2)
Next, the
FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating the waveform of the reference signal output from the
P1 = A1 ・ cos (2πft + φ1)
P2 = A2 ・ cos (2πft + φ2)
L = C・(φ2 - φ1) / 2f・360

x = (L3 ^ 2 + L1 ^ 2 - L2 ^ 2) / 2L3
x ^ 2 + y ^ 2 = L1 ^ 2
The coordinate
x = (L3 ^ 2 + L1 ^ 2-L2 ^ 2) / 2L3
x ^ 2 + y ^ 2 =
However, these equations are equations when the origin of the coordinate space is on the
In order to detect the coordinates accurately and easily using the
FIG. 10 is a top view showing a configuration of the
A
A
In the configuration of the
In implementation, it should be noted that L5 and L6 are optical path lengths. As is apparent from the above, one end point of L5 is in the diffusion

Next, the operation of this apparatus will be described.
According to this apparatus, the irradiation light from the
The same operation as described above is performed in the other
The
Next, the coordinate
By the way, the above-described coordinate input device may have a problem. This case will be described.
FIG. 12 is a diagram for explaining inconveniences in the coordinate input device described above. This figure shows the intensity waveform of the reference light w3 received by the
Therefore, it is conceivable to set the modulation frequency (f) so that the period (C / f) is longer than the maximum value of the optical path length (L). For example, when the distance from the
ΔL=C・Δφ/f・360
However, if the modulation frequency (f) is small, it will ultimately be difficult to measure the optical path length with high accuracy. The reason is described below. When the modulation frequency (f) is reduced, the intensity change rate per unit time in the reference light and the reflected light is lowered. As a result, the voltage change rate per unit time in the reference signal and the reflected signal input to the
ΔL = C · Δφ / f · 360
According to this equation, for example, when the modulation frequency (f) is 300 [MHz] and Δφ is 0.1 [deg], the optical path length error is about 0.3 [mm].
In order to solve such an inconvenience, an amplifier for increasing the amplitude is provided between the optical sensor and the
A second embodiment of the present invention that can solve such inconvenience will be described.
[Second Embodiment]
The difference between the coordinate input device according to the second embodiment of the present invention and the coordinate input device according to the first embodiment is that two modulation frequencies are used in one optical unit. Specifically, in the coordinate input device according to the first embodiment, the
P3 = A3・cos(2πf1t + φ3)
P4 = A4・cos(2πf2t + φ4)
L = C・(φ4 − φ3) / 2f1・360
FIG. 13 is a diagram for explaining a method for obtaining the distance (L) from the optical unit to the
P3 = A3 ・ cos (2πf1t + φ3)
P4 = A4 ・ cos (2πf2t + φ4)
Since f1 is set so that the period (C / f1) of the modulation component is longer than the maximum value of the optical path length (L), the distance (L) from the optical unit to the
L = C ・ (φ4 − φ3) / 2f1 ・ 360
Next, highly accurate measurement is performed using irradiation light whose intensity is modulated by a signal having a frequency f2. As described above, in this measurement, there is an area on the coordinate
Further, in this coordinate input device, as shown in FIG. 13, f2 is an integral multiple of f1. Thus, even if the number of oscillators in one optical unit is one, measurement can be easily performed using f1 and f2. Further, since f2 is an integral multiple of f1, the calculation of the phase difference in the phase comparison unit is also simplified.
In the present apparatus, if f2 is increased, coordinates can be detected with higher accuracy. Further, as shown in FIG. 14, it may be possible to detect coordinates with higher accuracy using a frequency (f3) higher than f2. Of course, the number of modulation frequencies used in one optical unit may be four or more.
[Third Embodiment]
The optical unit in the second embodiment described above is configured to switch the modulation intensity of the irradiation light from one
FIG. 15 is a diagram illustrating a partial configuration of the coordinate input apparatus. As shown in this figure, the optical unit of the coordinate input apparatus includes a
The
The
[Fourth Embodiment]
The coordinate input apparatus according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention uses the
FIG. 16 is a diagram showing a configuration of a part of the coordinate input device, and FIG. 17 is a perspective view showing an external appearance of the
However, the
