Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus including a recording head that discharges ink supplied from an ink cartridge as ink droplets.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, as ink used in an ink jet recording apparatus, there may be used ink in which dispersed particles such as pigments are uniformly dispersed and mixed in a solvent. Such ink does not print for a long period of time, and when placed in a state where the ink does not circulate in the ink storage unit, the dispersed particles settle out due to the difference in specific gravity between the solvent and the dispersed particles.
[0003]
In order to keep the concentration constant against such sedimentation of dispersed particles, it has been studied to provide a stirring device. For example, in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 4-169269, as a method of redispersing the settled particles, ball beads are placed in the ink liquid and redispersion is achieved by moving the ball beads in the liquid, and the ink cartridge is magnetized. Stirring with a stirrer, utilizing ultrasonic vibration, etc. are disclosed.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the case of the above-mentioned ball and beads, there is a problem that the ejection stability of ink droplets is lowered because the relationship between the timing of redispersion and the timing of printing operation is not focused. Such a phenomenon is that the ball and beads collide with the inner surface of the ink cartridge due to the movement of the ball and beads in the liquid, the recording head vibrates due to the impact, and the ejection stability is lowered. Furthermore, the above-described magnet stirrer and ultrasonic vibration system have a complicated structure for that, and the operation control must be performed with high accuracy.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide an ink jet recording apparatus that can perform good ink ejection without complicating or increasing the size of the structure of an ink cartridge or its carriage.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, an ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention includes a recording head that ejects ink droplets in response to a print signal, an ink cartridge that stores ink supplied to the recording head, and the ink cartridge. powered by And The above recording head is attached And reciprocates in the main scanning direction A carriage, In an ink jet recording apparatus that performs a printing operation by ejecting ink droplets from the recording head while moving the carriage in the main scanning direction, as follows: The gist is that it is configured.
[0007]
That is, in the inkjet recording apparatus, A stirrer is disposed in the ink chamber of the ink cartridge, and the stirrer is moved during the agitation operation for applying the ink agitation operation to the ink cartridge, and is stopped during the printing operation. Let state It is comprised as follows.
[0008]
Therefore, the agitation operation and the printing operation are separated, and unnecessary vibrations caused by the agitation are not transmitted to the recording head during printing, and ink droplets in which pigments and the like are uniformly dispersed are ejected onto the print medium. As a result, good print quality can be obtained.
[0009]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, when the stirring operation is performed when the recording apparatus is turned on, when the ink cartridge is replaced, or when a certain time within the printing operation time elapses, the ink pigment or the like has settled. Since the stirring operation is performed at the expected time, the redispersion process is almost certainly performed before the printing operation, and the ink droplets that are uniformly dispersed are ejected. For example, when only the ink of the black ink cartridge is consumed and the ink of the other color ink cartridge is not consumed, the settling phenomenon of pigments or the like occurs in the latter ink cartridge when the printing operation time elapses for a certain period of time. In order to prepare for such a situation, the stirring operation is performed when the time as described above elapses.
[0010]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the stirrer is made of a magnetic material, and the stirrer is applied to the stirrer from outside the ink cartridge during the printing operation. Magnetic When the stirring member is stopped by applying an attractive force, a magnetic attractive force acts on the stirring member from the outside of the ink cartridge, so that the stirring member has a predetermined position in the direction in which the magnetic attractive force acts. The stirrer is fixed in the ink chamber during the printing operation. In addition, the stirrer from the outside of the ink cartridge Magnetic Since the suction force acts, it is not necessary to arrange a special structure inside the ink cartridge, which is advantageous for simplifying the structure of the ink cartridge. Furthermore, since the direction in which the magnetic attractive force is applied is selected with a high degree of freedom, it is easy to stop the stirrer at a predetermined location in the ink chamber.
[0011]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, when the magnet is an electromagnet, the excitation current is interrupted. Stirring body Since the agitation movement is allowed and restricted freely, the agitation operation and the printing operation can be easily and clearly distinguished.
[0012]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the electromagnet is provided on the carriage. part Installed in the ink chamber from the outside of the ink cartridge. Stirring body It is possible to easily apply a magnetic attraction force to the surface. In particular, since the electromagnet can be freely attached to many places on the carriage, Stirring body This makes it easier to select the location where the ink is stopped in the ink chamber.
[0013]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the stirring operation is The carriage is reciprocated in the main scanning direction in the same operation mode as in the printing operation while the stirring body is movable. If it is an action, Stirring and printing Therefore, it is not necessary to make a special difference, and both operations can be easily controlled.
[0014]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, when the magnet is a permanent magnet, the permanent magnet is Stirring body By stopping at a position away from Stirring body The magnetic attraction force against the Stirring body Is allowed to move, and a stirring operation is performed. Also, permanent magnet Stirring body Close to and stop, Stirring body By increasing the magnetic attraction force to Stirring body Is fixed at a predetermined position, and a printing operation can be performed.
[0016]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the stirring operation is performed during the printing operation while the stirring body is movable. With a reciprocating stroke that is significantly shorter than the reciprocating stroke of In the case of reciprocating the carriage in the main scanning direction, an operation mode (stirring behavior) most suitable for the stirring operation can be selected, so that the state in which the pigment in the ink is sufficiently redispersed can be obtained. It is done.
[0017]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the above Stirring body Is a shape with rolling properties, Stirring body Can change its position freely by rolling. Stirring body Is promoted, and a normal stirring operation is performed.
[0018]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, a plurality of the ink chambers are provided, and the ink chambers Stirring body Is sufficiently agitated for each ink chamber, there is no dispersion in the dispersibility of the pigment between the ink chambers, and the ink properties of the ink droplets ejected from the recording head are good It will be something. During the printing operation, the ink is sequentially supplied to the recording head via each ink chamber, for example, from the first ink chamber of the ink cartridge to the second ink chamber. Stirring is important in that the ink properties of the entire ink cartridge are uniform.
[0020]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the above Stirring body Is a sphere made of a magnetic material, its position can be freely changed by rolling the sphere. Stirring body Is promoted, and a normal stirring operation is performed. Further, since the sphere is made of a magnetic material, when the magnetic attraction force acts on the sphere, the sphere easily rolls in the direction of magnetic attraction, so that the stop position of the sphere can be accurately determined.
[0021]
In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, when the ink is a dispersed ink in which dispersed particles are dispersed in a solvent, Stirring body Good redispersion can be obtained by various behaviors.

[0092]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, the agitation moving body performs agitation movement in the ink chamber when the ink agitation operation is applied to the ink cartridge. When a printing operation is performed by discharging the ink, the ink chamber is configured to stop at a predetermined position in the ink chamber. That is, the stirring is performed when the ink pigment or the like is in a state to be stirred and the stirring operation is not performed.
[0093]
Therefore, the agitation operation and the printing operation are separated, and unnecessary vibrations caused by the agitation are not transmitted to the recording head during printing, and ink droplets in which pigments and the like are uniformly dispersed are ejected onto the print medium. As a result, good print quality can be obtained.
