Description
The present invention relates to an information integrated display method, an information integrated display system, and a server device applied to a document browsing system using a network.
Conventionally, for example, a CD-ROM, which is a read-only memory using a so-called compact disk (hereinafter referred to as a CD), a CD-I (CD-Interactive), and the like are used for information such as documents and images. Is used as an information recording medium. The CD-ROM or CD-I uses a so-called compact disc on which audio signals are recorded, that is, the same optical disc as a CD-DA (Compact Disc-Digital Audio), and is used for documents, sounds, and moving images. , Still images are recorded as data files.
In recent years, so-called video CDs for recording moving image signals compressed and encoded on the same optical disk as the CD have also appeared. This video CD standard is a so-called karaoke CD (CD video karaoke CD) for the purpose of simple video playback, as shown in FIG. 7, among the various standards defined as CD standards. ) An extension of the standard. The karaoke CD is an optical disc whose main purpose is to be used in karaoke or the like that is used by mixing an audio signal input from a microphone and a music signal.
The above-mentioned video CD is applied with a standard in which functions such as still image reproduction and simple menu reproduction are added to the digital video reproduction function using MPEG1 (Moving Picture Experts Group Phase 1), which is an international standard for data compression. . That is, for example, as shown in Table 1, by adding functions such as playback control for realizing high-definition still images of 704 × 480 pixels and menu playback, for example, not only simple video playback It can be used in a wide range of applications, such as music software, educational software, and electronic publishing software that combine video and still images.
The video CD standard is also compatible with the existing CD-I FMV (Full Motion Video) standard. In other words, the video CD is a bridge standard that can be played back by a player corresponding to the CD-IFMV standard, thereby maintaining consistency in the standard and compatibility of the optical disc.
Furthermore, unlike the CD-I, the video CD standard does not specify an operating system (OS), so it can be used not only for dedicated players but also for personal computers and game machines equipped with the above-mentioned MPEG video board. It is possible.
Further, the disc configuration of the video CD conforms to the
Here, as shown in FIG. 8, the recording area of the video CD is roughly composed of a lead-in area, a data area (
The
The
Ordinary MPEG data is recorded on
Next, the recording format of the video signal and audio signal of the video CD complies with MPEG1. Usually, about 1.2 Mbit / sec is assigned to the video signal and about 0.2 Mbit / sec is assigned to the audio signal. As shown in FIG. 10, the screen size for the image is NTSC signal (frame frequency is 30 Hz) and P or movie film (frame frequency is 24 Hz), 352 × 240 pixels, PAL signal (frame frequency is 25 Hz). In this case, it is 352 × 288 pixels. The format for the audio signal uses
Next, the track structure of the video CD is shown in FIG. In other words, MPEG video and audio data are interleaved on the disc, and video data and audio data are arranged at a ratio of 6 to 1 on average. In addition, as in a conventional CD player, assuming that the search is performed by track number, 150 sectors are provided as a pause margin, and 15 sectors are provided as a front margin and a rear margin. This is to reduce the influence on the bit stream when searching.
Further, as shown in FIG. 12, the sector format of MPEG video data is composed of a pack composed of a pack header and pack data. One pack is composed of 2324 bytes, which is the user data area of one sector of the CD-ROM. However, 12 bytes are allocated as a pack header, 13 bytes are allocated as a packet header, and 2279 bytes are allocated as a data portion. An extra 20 bytes (recording zero) is added to this to make 2324 bytes, which is the same as a video, as one pack. In FIG. 12, PTS is a display time part (presentation time stamp), DTS is a decoding time part, SCR is a system clock reference in the figure, STD indicates a system target decoder.
The sector format of MPEG audio data is basically the same as that of video data. However, 12 bytes are assigned as a back header, 13 bytes are assigned as a packet header, 2279 bytes are assigned as a data part, 2304 bytes are assigned as 1 back, and an extra 20 bytes (recording zero) is added to the video data. The same 2324 bytes are used as one back.
As a conventional technique,
If an optical disc such as a CD-ROM or a video CD as described above is used as an information recording medium, document information such as characters and images can be provided to the user. In particular, in the case of a video CD, moving image information can be provided to a user easily and inexpensively. However, when information is recorded on these optical discs and provided to the user, the recorded information becomes outdated as time elapses from the time when the optical disc is provided to the user (that is, when the information is issued). There is a problem that the value is reduced.
On the other hand, on the Internet, which is a two-way information system that has been booming with the recent introduction of the so-called WWW (World Wide Web) system, for example, software called a browser is used for users. The side can acquire the latest various information from the information provider side in an interactive format. Note that the WWW is an information providing system that enables browsing of information such as text, images, and sounds that can be used on the so-called Internet as a network in a hypertext format. The WWW browser is software required to use the WWW for displaying data on demand or displaying data from the network. That is, the WWW browser reads a document described in a language for describing a document in a hypertext format called HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), for example, from a server or a terminal operating the browser, and edits it. And display. In this way, in a system using a WWW browser, a transmission request is made from a terminal to each server that is scattered in a plurality of locations and each has information, and is transmitted from each of these servers on the terminal side. Information can be displayed in combination. Furthermore, the Internet is a computer network network in which computer networks existing in companies, universities, etc. are connected to each other through a wide area line, and is spread all over the world. Various services using the Internet have already been actively performed for e-mail services, file transfer services, information retrieval services, and the like. In addition, hypertext is a mechanism that facilitates retrieval of information by associating text, diagrams, and the like, that is, by attaching links.
However, in the system that provides information to the user side via the network as described above, it is possible to collect and edit and display information scattered in a plurality of places on the user terminal side. At this time, the user terminal can only edit and display the information supplied from the server. For example, the information on the terminal can be embedded and edited in a document obtained from the server, There is a problem that a link for reference cannot be created. Further, when all the data constituting a document or the like is acquired from the network, for example, if the document includes image (especially moving image) information, it takes time to acquire the information, and the load on the network There is also a problem that increases.
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above, and can always provide the latest information, and even if information to be acquired includes information on an image (particularly a moving image), acquisition of the information is possible. Information display method and information that can be edited and displayed by organically combining the information held by the user's terminal itself and the information held by the server without requiring a long period of time and a low network load. An object is to provide an integrated display system and a server device .

That is, according to the present invention, when accessing the server, information on the client side is automatically transmitted together, and whether the server uses information on the client side based on the information (such as embedding information). By sending the optimal information suitable for the client side environment, such as judgment and embedding of link information, the network load can be reduced by utilizing the information owned by the client side, and remote and local awareness when browsing documents It is possible to alleviate the need to provide a seamless usage environment.
In the present invention, update information acquired from a server via a wide area network and updated information that is updated as needed and non-update information that is individually held on the client side are displayed in a unified manner, and the display contents are configured. By describing the location of each information in a common page description language and displaying the update information acquired from the server using the common language decoding display means and the non-update information held on the client side in the same display area The latest information can always be provided, and even if image information (especially moving images) is included in the information to be acquired, it does not take a long time to acquire the information, and the load on the network is small. Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 shows a schematic configuration of an information integrated display system to which the information integrated display method and apparatus of the present invention is applied.
The information integrated display system shown in FIG. 1 is updated individually from the server 100 via a wide area network such as the
That is, in the information integrated display system of the configuration example of the present invention, a document of update information such as characters and images from the document search / transmission server 100 and a client terminal which is a browsing terminal connected to the server 100 In combination with 120 documents of non-update information such as characters and images, as shown in FIG. 2, it can be displayed in the
ここで、上記図1において、サーバ100の通信部111は例えばHTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol、ハイパーテキストをインターネットで交換するためにWWWで使うネイティブなプロトコル)サーバが用いられ、ページ記述部112はいわゆるCGI(Common Gateway Interface)プログラムを用いることができる。
In FIG. 1, the
On the other hand, the
Further, the browser 121 as the common language decoding display means in the server 100 and the client terminal 120 is, for example, browsing software called a WWW browser such as Netscape Navigator (trademark) of Netscape Communication. For example, the
As described above, in the information integrated display system configuration of this configuration example, a document is expressed in a page description language such as HTML, for example, but a description of embedding a moving image in the document is expressed by the HTML. For example, the following notation can be used.
<EMBED SRC="file://vcd/mpegav/movie01.det" WIDTH=320 HIGHT=240>
<EMBED SRC = "file: //vcd/mpegav/movie01.det" WIDTH = 320 HIGHT = 240>
The portion enclosed by double quotation marks (") following the SRC represents the file name of the moving image to be displayed, and the size of the area secured for embedding the moving image in the document is represented by WIDTH and HIGH. That is, in this example, the width direction (horizontal direction) is 320 pixels, and the vertical direction (vertical direction) is an area for 240 pixels.
Therefore, when the browser 121 of the client terminal 120 in the system of FIG. 1 detects the above description in the HTML file (determined by the EMBED tag), the browser area on the document is set on the document based on the WIDTH and HIGH. Secure and do document layout. Further, the URL (file name of embedding data) indicated by the SRC is passed to the plug-in of the
Based on the received file name, the plug-in of the
Based on the file name given from the plug-in of the
A more detailed operation of the above-described information integrated display system will be described with reference to the flowcharts of FIGS. FIG. 3 shows the operation on the client terminal 120 side, and FIG. 4 shows the operation on the server 100 side.
First, as a process of opening a local document in step ST1 in FIG. 3, for example, the optical disk 126 is inserted into the storage device (disk drive) 125. Alternatively, the process of reading predetermined information from the predetermined area of the inserted optical disk 126 and storing it in the document
Next, as a result of analyzing the page description language, when displaying the non-update information document recorded on the optical disc 126 on the
When it is determined as YES in step ST3, document information is transmitted from the client terminal 120 to the server 100 as shown in step ST4. Here, when the page description language is analyzed in step ST2, the obtained page information is transmitted to the server 100 as document information. If the page description language is not recorded on the optical disk 126, for example, information on the client terminal 120 in the browser 121 (for example, information content, creation date, drive name, and inserted disk) ID etc.) and ID information indicating the location are transmitted to the server 100 as document information.
At this time, the
When receiving the transmission from the client terminal 120 in step ST20 of FIG. 4, the server 100 performs the processing from step ST22 to step ST24 until receiving a transmission end notification in step ST21. In step ST22, for example, the
The processing from step ST20 to step ST24 in the server 100 is repeated until a transmission end notification is received from the client terminal 120 in step ST21. In addition, when a transmission end notification is received from the client terminal 120 in step ST21 and it is instructed that the information stored in the document
Returning to FIG. 3, the browser 121 of the client terminal 120 determines whether or not the document information is received from the server 100 in step ST5. At this time, if not received yet, the determination in step ST5 is repeated. If received, all the document information is received from the server 100 in step ST6, and the received document information is temporarily stored in, for example, document data. Stored in the
In step ST7, the browser 121 analyzes page information out of the document information received from the server 100 and stored in the document
Next, the browser 121 enters a state of waiting for the user's operation, and executes it when the user performs an operation. As a state waiting for the user's operation, in step ST8, it is determined whether or not the above-described document transmission / reception and display processing is to be ended. If it is determined not to be ended, the process proceeds to step ST9. In step ST9, it is determined whether or not to open a different document, for example, whether or not a page has been switched, while waiting for the user operation. When it is determined in step ST9 that a different document is not to be opened, the process returns to step ST8, and when it is determined that the document is to be opened, the server 100 is notified in step ST10. At this time, the information notified to the server 100 varies depending on the user's operation, and is various such as the ID of the title stored in the optical disc 126 and the name of the user (user).
Thereafter, the document is opened in step ST11, and the process returns to step ST2 and subsequent steps.
Next, the above-described hybrid video CD that can be used in the configuration example of the present invention will be described.
As described above, the
The format of the hybrid video CD used in the configuration example of the present invention will be described below.
The recording format of the hybrid video CD includes a moving image data area in which moving image data that can be reproduced as a conventional video CD is recorded, and data and application software used in a personal computer such as a CD-ROM. And an application area in which is recorded. Here, in the application area of the hybrid video CD, for example, the plug-in of the above-mentioned Netscape Navigator and HTML data to be displayed in the Netscape Navigator are recorded.
The recording format of the hybrid video CD will be described more specifically with reference to FIG. The recording format of this hybrid video CD is roughly divided into a lead-in area, a data area (tracks 1 to N), and a lead-out area. In the example of FIG. 5, moving image data is recorded in
The
Here, in the video CD information area (INF / VCO) in the hybrid video CD shown in FIG. 5, as various disk information, disk information, entry table, list ID offset table (LOT), play・ Sequence descriptors, etc. are recorded. The disc information is information for recognizing a video CD, the entry table is a table indicating entry points, the list ID offset table indicates the address of a reproduction list, and a play sequence descriptor. Consists of a playlist and control data. The primary volume descriptor part (PVD) of
On the other hand, in the CD-I application area of
For example, as a program for enabling playback of a video CD under the operating environment of an operating system (OS) for a personal computer, the image and audio data compressed and recorded by MPEG1 stored in the video CD are decoded. A video CD playback program necessary for configuring the above-described moving
Next, a file (“AUTORUN.INF”) recorded in the CD-I application area of
Next, the operation of the information integrated display system of FIG. 1 when the above-described hybrid video CD is used will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
In FIG. 6, in step ST30, for example, the optical disk 126 is inserted into the
Next, when the
When the client terminal 120 receives page information from the server 100 in step ST39, the client terminal 120 analyzes the received page in step ST40. In step ST41, layout is performed in accordance with the description of the analyzed page. Here, if the plug-in needs to be activated, the
As shown in step ST45, the browser 121 displays a page after the plug-in is activated, and then waits for a user operation in step ST46. At this time, if the user performs any operation, the execution is performed in step ST47. For example, when a page switching operation is performed while waiting for the user's operation, the processing from step ST34 onward is repeated, but the information sent to the server 100 at that time varies depending on the user's operation, and is stored in the hybrid video CD. There are various things such as the ID of the title and the name of the user (user).
As described above, in the information integrated display system of the configuration example of the present invention, information such as an image having a large data amount and a relatively long update period (or not updated) and text information with a short update period supplied by an optical disc, for example. Etc. from the server and combining the information to create a document, the information owned by the user can be utilized, the network load can be reduced, and remote and local when viewing the document The need for awareness is reduced, and a seamless usage environment can be provided, improving operability.
According to the embodiment of the present invention as described above, the update information acquired from the server via the wide area network and the non-update information individually held on the client side are displayed in a unified manner. The location of each information constituting the display content is described in a common page description language, and the update information obtained from the server using the common language decoding display means and the non-update information held on the client side By displaying in the same display area, the latest information can always be provided, and even if the information to be acquired includes image (particularly moving image) information, it does not take a long time to acquire the information. Further, the load on the network is small, and editing and display in which information held by the user terminal itself and information held by the server are organically combined is possible.
It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
