Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ultrasonic welding method for resin packages such as electronic components.
[0002]
[Prior art]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-4-102388 [Patent Document 2]
Conventionally, when an electronic component is sealed in a resin package, an ultrasonic welding method is used as a method for sealing the resin package.
In
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in any welding method, the ultrasonic vibration used is applied in the longitudinal direction, that is, in the insertion direction of the positioning projections or protrusions. Such a welding method using longitudinal vibration causes a large damage due to ultrasonic vibration applied to the joining member (case, etc.) and is not suitable for welding a thin case or a case in which a delicate element is housed inside. .
[0004]
On the other hand, it is also conceivable to set the vibration direction of the ultrasonic waves in the horizontal direction. In the transverse vibration welding method, the airtight weldability is good and the damage given to the joining member is small, which is particularly effective for welding a thin joining member. However, due to the lateral vibration, a lateral clearance of about several tens to several hundreds μm is required between the joining members.
Since the clearance is required in the vibration direction as described above, the joining members are not positioned, and dropout and displacement occur due to vibration and impact during conveyance before ultrasonic welding. As a result, the welding is often performed in a state in which the joining members are shifted from each other, and there is a drawback that a high-quality package cannot be obtained.
[0005]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an ultrasonic welding method for a resin package, in which, when ultrasonic welding is performed, highly accurate positioning is performed and damage to the package is small.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the invention according to
[0007]
In the present invention, attention is paid to the fact that the first package component and the second package component need only be positioned at the start of application of ultrasonic vibration, and after positioning with high accuracy by fitting the positioning pin and the positioning hole. The positioning pin is intentionally broken by applying a lateral ultrasonic vibration. Therefore, welding can be performed without hindering the ultrasonic vibration, and welding with less damage to the package and components housed therein can be realized while performing highly accurate positioning.
The reason for providing at least two positioning pins is to ensure positioning in the X, Y, and θ directions.
The amplitude of the ultrasonic vibration needs to be an amplitude that can reliably break the positioning pin. Therefore, the amplitude of the ultrasonic vibration needs to be larger than the fitting gap in the lateral direction (direction parallel to the joint surface) between the positioning pin and the positioning hole. For example, when the positioning pin is press-fitted into the positioning hole, the fitting gap is 0. Therefore, if the amplitude of the ultrasonic vibration is 40 μm or more, the positioning pin can be easily folded.
It is preferable that the positioning pin has a strength or a thickness that can be easily broken by ultrasonic vibration (lateral vibration) without being broken by vibration or impact during conveyance.
[0008]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, small protrusions for ultrasonic welding lower than the positioning pins are continuously formed on one joint surface of the first package part and the second package part on almost the entire circumference of the joint surface, It is preferable to seal the joint surface between the first package component and the second package component by ultrasonic welding of the protrusions.
That is, when the package is sealed using ultrasonic welding, a small protrusion for concentrating ultrasonic vibration is provided on the joint surface, but the small protrusion is positioned lower than the positioning pin so that it is positioned by the positioning pin. Ultrasonic welding can be started in the state. When the ultrasonic welding is completed, the small protrusions are melted to seal the joint surface between the first package component and the second package component, and a resin package having a sealed structure can be obtained.
[0009]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, it is preferable to provide a groove for absorbing the overflow resin at the time of ultrasonic welding on one joint surface of the first package component and the second package component.
That is, at the time of ultrasonic welding, a part of the molten resin may overflow from the joint surface to the outside and impair the appearance. Therefore, by forming a groove portion for absorbing the overflow resin on the joint surface of one of the package parts, the resin accumulates in the groove portion and does not overflow to the outside.
[0010]
The resin package of the present invention does not necessarily need to be sealed as long as at least the first package component and the second package component are accurately positioned and reliably welded and fixed.
In addition to a solid material such as an electronic component, a fluid can also be enclosed in the resin package.

In the above embodiment, the positioning pin is provided on the case side and the small projection for ultrasonic welding is provided on the cover side. However, both the positioning pin and the small projection may be provided only on one side of the case or the cover.
In the package structure of the present invention, since the ultrasonic vibration is a lateral vibration, the impact load is greatly reduced as compared with the longitudinal vibration. Therefore, it is suitable when the component housed inside is a delicate component such as a piezoelectric element, a precision element, a bump-bonded element, or a wire-bonded element.
[0017]
【The invention's effect】
As is apparent from the above description, according to the present invention, the first package component and the second package component are positioned with high precision by press- fitting between the positioning pins and the positioning holes, and then the lateral ultrasonic vibration is applied. By adding, the positioning pins are broken and the joining surfaces are ultrasonically welded. Therefore, it is possible to realize welding with little damage to the package and the components housed therein while performing positioning with high accuracy.
