Description

The present invention relates to a connector, and more particularly to a connector that is interposed between objects to be connected and electrically connects them.

Conventionally, the following is known as a connector including an insulator (housing) and a contact (see Patent Document 1 below).

The insulator has a plurality of space portions and a holding portion. Each of the plurality of space portions accommodates a contact. The holding part is formed so as to penetrate the space part.

The contact is formed by pressing a metal plate having elasticity. The contact includes first and second contact portions, a bending portion (enclosing portion), and a pair of folded portions. The first and second contact portions are formed by bending both ends of the contact into an arc shape, and contact the contact pads of the first and second connection objects arranged in parallel. The bending portion is formed by bending the middle portion of the contact so as to surround substantially the entire circumference of the holding portion. The pair of folded portions are formed by folding back portions that connect the curved portion and the first and second contact portions. When the contact is accommodated in the space portion, the first and second contact portions protrude from the space portion to the outside.

In order to connect the first connection object and the second connection object using this connector, first, a connector is disposed between the first connection object and the second connection object. At this time, alignment is performed so that the first and second contact portions of the contact come into contact with the contact pads of the first and second connection objects, respectively.

Next, the first connection object is pressed against the connector without moving the second connection object. As a result, the first and second contact portions are bent into the space portion, and the first and second contact portions are pressed against the contact pads of the first and second connection objects by the elastic force, respectively. The first contact pad and the second contact pad of the second connection object are electrically connected.
JP 2001-176484 A (see paragraphs 0023 to 0026, FIG. 1)

In the connector described above, the folded portion is composed of three bent portions. The first bent portion is a first bent portion that is continuous with the curved portion and is bent by approximately 90 ° so as to approach the holding portion. The second bent portion is a second bent portion that is continuous with the first bent portion and is bent by approximately 180 ° in the opposite direction to the first bent portion. The third bent portion is a third bent portion that is continuous with the second bent portion and is bent by approximately 90 ° so as to approach the holding portion.

As described above, the folded portion of the contact has three bent portions, and the shape of the folded portion is complicated, so that productivity by press working is poor.

Further, in order to form as many as three bent portions in the folded portion, the radius of curvature of each bent portion (the radius of curvature of the second bent portion) has to be reduced. As a result, when this connector is sandwiched between the first connection object and the second connection object, stress is concentrated on the second bent portion, which may cause plastic deformation. Furthermore, there was a risk of cracks occurring during press working.

The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a connector with high contact reliability and high productivity, which is less likely to cause cracks and plastic deformation in the contacts.

In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the connector of the invention of claim 1 has a plurality of accommodating space portions and a holding portion that penetrates the accommodating space portion, and is between the first connection object and the second connection object. A housing interposed between the housing, a surrounding portion that surrounds the entire circumference of the holding portion so as to be swingable with respect to the holding portion, a first contact portion that contacts a contact pad of the first connection object, and the first 2 It has a 2nd contact part which contacts the contact pad of a connection target object, and a pair of return part which connects the enclosing part and the 1st and 2nd contact part, respectively, and is stored in the storage space part, respectively. A pair of folded portions each having an arc shape, the pair of folded portions connected to the surrounding portion, and a first bent portion bent to approach the holding portion, and the first bent portion. Second bend that continues to one bend Min and is composed of the first bent portion is bent in an arc shape, the second bending portion is bent in an arc shape, the radius of curvature of the second bend portion of the first bent portion It is characterized by being larger than the radius of curvature .

As described above, each of the pair of folded portions has an arc shape, and the bent portion of the folded portion has a simple shape of an arc, so that productivity by press working is improved.

Further, since the bent portion of the folded portion is one place and the radius of curvature of the bent portion is increased, when the connector is sandwiched between the first connection object and the second connection object, stress is concentrated at a specific place. Without the risk of plastic deformation. Furthermore, the risk of cracks occurring during press working is reduced.

According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the connector according to the first aspect, a convex portion that projects into a gap between the pair of folded portions is formed on an inner surface of the housing.

According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the connector according to the second aspect, a pair of curved surfaces having a curvature radius substantially equal to a curvature radius of the second bent portion is formed on the convex portion.

According to this invention, there is little possibility that a contact will be cracked or plastically deformed, and a connector with high contact reliability and productivity can be provided.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

1 is a front view of a connector according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a plan view of the connector, FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the connector, FIG. 4 is a side view of the connector, and FIG. It is sectional drawing which follows the -A line.

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, the connector 1 includes a housing 3 and a plurality of contacts 5.

The housing 3 is made of an insulating resin and has a plurality of accommodation spaces 31 and holding portions 32.

The plurality of housing spaces 31 are formed at predetermined intervals along the longitudinal direction of the housing 3. The back surface of the accommodation space 31 is open. A contact 5 is accommodated in the accommodation space 31 so as to be movable by a predetermined amount in the height direction of the housing 3. There is a partition wall 33 between adjacent accommodation spaces 31.

The holding part 32 is formed along the longitudinal direction of the housing 3 so as to penetrate the accommodation space 31. The holding portion 32 is formed with a convex portion 32 a that faces a convex portion 34 described later. The convex portion 32a has a curved surface 32b. The curvature radius of the curved surface 32b is substantially equal to the curvature radius of the folded portion 57 described later.
A convex portion 34 protruding toward the holding portion 32 is formed on the inner surface of the housing 3. The convex portion 34 has a curved surface 34a. The radius of curvature of the curved surface 34a is substantially equal to the radius of curvature of the folded portion 57 described later.

Protrusions 35 and 36 are formed on both ends of the back surface of the housing 3 (see FIG. 3). A projection 37 is also formed on the left side surface of the housing 3. The protrusions 35, 36, and 37 are key-shaped and extend in the height direction of the housing 3.

Stoppers 38 and 39 are provided at the upper ends of both side surfaces of the housing 3 (see FIG. 1).

As shown in FIG. 5, the contact 5 includes a surrounding portion 51, first and second contact portions 53 and 54, first and second arms 55 and 56, and a pair of folded portions 57. The contact 5 is formed by punching and bending a metal plate having conductivity and elasticity.

The surrounding portion 51 is formed by bending an intermediate portion of the contact 5 into a substantially annular shape. The surrounding portion 51 surrounds the entire circumference of the holding portion 32. There is a gap between the surrounding portion 51 and the holding portion 32.

The first contact portion 53 is formed by bending one end of the contact 5 in an arc shape and has a first contact. The first contact portion 53 contacts a contact pad (not shown) of the first printed wiring board (first connection object) 8.

The second contact portion 54 is formed by bending the other end portion of the contact 5 in an arc shape and has a second contact. The second contact portion 54 contacts a contact pad (not shown) of the second printed wiring board (second connection object) 9.

The first arm portion 55 is interposed between the one folded portion 57 and the first contact portion 53 and is bent substantially in an L shape.

The second arm portion 56 is interposed between the other folded portion 57 and the second contact portion 54 and is bent in an approximately L shape.

One folded portion 57 of the pair of folded portions 57 is formed by folding a portion connecting the surrounding portion 51 and the first arm portion 55, and the other folded portion 57 of the pair of folded portions 57 is enclosed. It is formed by folding back a portion connecting the portion 51 and the second arm portion 56.

Each folded portion 57 includes a first bent portion 57a and a second bent portion 57b.

The first bent portion 57 a is continuous with both ends of the surrounding portion 51 and is bent so as to approach the holding portion 32.

The second bent portion component 57b is continuous with the first bent portion 57a, it is bent into a substantially circular first bent portion component 57a and opposite. The radius of curvature of the second bent portion 57b is larger than the radius of curvature of the first bent portion 57a.

The contact 5 is inserted into the accommodation space 31 from the back surface of the housing 3. At this time, the holding portion 32 is relatively passed between the pair of folded portions 57. Thereby, the surrounding part 51 is attached to the holding part 32 in a swingable manner. Once the surrounding part 51 is attached to the holding part 32, the distance between the pair of folded parts 57 is smaller than the thickness dimension of the holding part 32. Do not fall off.

When the surrounding portion 51 of the contact 5 is mounted on the holding portion 32 of the housing 3, a part of the first and second arm portions 55 and 56 and the first and second contact portions 53 and 54 protrude from the housing 3. Further, there is a small gap between the curved surfaces 32 b and 34 a of the housing 3 and the first and second bent portions 57 a and 57 b of the contact 5.

6 is a cross-sectional view showing a state in which the objects to be connected are connected to each other by the connector shown in FIG.

Next, a procedure for connecting the two printed wiring boards 8 and 9 using the connector 1 will be described.

The connector 1 is inserted in advance into a housing (not shown) that is slightly larger than the housing 3. At this time, the stoppers 38 and 39 of the housing 3 abut against the upper end surface of the housing. As a result, the connector 1 is inserted into the housing to a predetermined depth. Further, when the connector 1 is inserted into the housing, the projections 35, 36, and 37 are press-fitted into the housing, so that the connector 1 is fixed to the housing. The housing is fixed to the connector 1 in this way so that the connector 1 can sit well with respect to both the printed wiring boards 8 and 9.

When the housing is attached to the connector 1, the connector 1 is disposed between the first and second printed wiring boards 8 and 9 as shown in FIG. 6. At this time, the first and second contact portions 53 and 54 of the contacts are aligned so as to contact the pads of the first and second printed wiring boards 8 and 9, respectively.

Next, the first printed wiring board 8 is pressed against the connector 1. As a result, the first and second arm portions 55 and 56 are deflected toward the accommodating space 31, and the first contact and the second contacts 53 a and 54 a are brought into contact with the first and second printed wiring boards 8 and 9, respectively, by the repulsive force. The pads come into contact with each other, and the contact pads conduct with each other.

According to this embodiment, since the folding | returning part 57 is comprised by the 1st bending part 57a and the 2nd bending part 57b, the bending process by a press can be completed twice and productivity is high.

Further, according to this embodiment, since the radius of curvature of the second bent portion 57b on which the stress acts is configured to be large, it is difficult for cracks to occur during pressing, and stress is applied to a part of the folded portion during connection. Will not concentrate.

Furthermore, since there is only a small gap between the curved surfaces 32b and 34a of the housing 3 and the first and second bent portions 57a and 57b of the contact 5, even if the contact 5 is slightly inclined during the connection work, the first Further, at least one of the second bent portions 57a and 57b is in contact with the curved surface 32b or 34a, and the contact 5 is not further inclined, and the connection work is easy.

In this embodiment, the objects to be connected are the printed wiring boards 8 and 9, but the present invention is not limited to the printed wiring board. For example, as a connector for a glass substrate such as an LCD or a surface mount LSI package. Can also be applied.

Further, in this embodiment, the folded portion 57 is configured by the first bent portion 57a and the second bent portion 57b, but it is not always necessary to configure in this way.

FIG. 1 is a front view of a connector according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a plan view of the connector. FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the connector. FIG. 4 is a side view of the connector. FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along line AA in FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view showing a state in which the objects to be connected are connected to each other by the connector shown in FIG.
