Description
【0001】

[Technical field to which the name belongs]
The present invention relates to a reinforcing structure of a wood club head which is a metal hollow shell having a head volume of 250 cc or more.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For the purpose of increasing the flight distance, a wood club head having a large metal hollow shell structure has become the mainstream.
As a result, the impact force at the time of hitting the ball has been increased, and it has been a concern that a dent and a crack are likely to occur in a part of the head by repeatedly receiving such a force.
[0003]
For this reason, hitherto hitting surfaces that directly receive the greatest force are conventionally reinforced to be thicker than the other parts of the head, and ribs of various shapes are attached to the back side of the hitting surface. I came.
Furthermore, in consideration of unforeseen conditions of use, reinforcement is also provided by installing ribs that bridge between the surfaces sandwiching the boundary portion at the boundary portion between the ball striking surface, that is, the face surface and the other shell surface of the head. Has been done.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, even if the thickness of the face is increased, ribs are provided on the back surface of the face, or ribs are provided on the boundary portion around the face, the head weight is reduced and the center of gravity is moved forward in terms of club performance. Since the suppression is necessary, there is a limit to the reinforcing means.
That is, the head weight is suppressed to about 200 g. If the weight is increased further, it becomes difficult for a general player to perform a club swing, and the face side becomes heavy due to reinforcement, and the center of gravity of the head moves to the face side (forward). As a result, the so-called sweet area becomes smaller, and there is a problem that more miss shots with the core removed.
[0005]
In addition, despite the above-described conventional reinforcing means, there is still a concern about the problem of the head durability because it is expected that the head will continue to increase in size and become a thin shell.
In view of such a situation, an object of the present invention is to provide a wood club head having a large hollow shell structure that is excellent in durability with little increase in head weight and forward movement of the center of gravity.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above object, the wood club head according to the present invention, full Esu, sole, and chromatic crown side, the shell surface of the back side, the thickness of the shell surface, sole>face> other shell When the head is set to a regular lie angle and loft angle when viewed from above, the center of the head from the toe on the crown back surface is the center of the head. And at least three ribs (A) inclined at an angle (θ) of 45 degrees or less with respect to the face center line with the back side end on the toe side and the face side end on the heel side. / Or from the wheel on the back of the crown to the center of the head, the back side end is on the heel side and the face side end is on the toe side to the face center line And at least three or more ribs (B) inclined at an angle (φ) of 45 degrees or less are provided, and the ribs (A) and (B) are not provided on the face and the sole, and have a width of 2 to 4 mm and a height. The length is 2 to 5 mm and the length is 30 to 70 mm.
[0007]
The inventor noticed that, according to the durability test, the damaged portion of the large-sized head of the metal hollow shell structure is generated on each shell surface of the head excluding the sole without being limited to the face portion, The stress distribution on each shell surface of the head at the time of hitting was analyzed by an actual hit test.
In the test, several test clubs with brittle paint applied to the entire surface of the head were prepared, and after several trials were made for about a month at a golf driving range by several golfers, the wrinkled state of the brittle paint was visually observed. Made by observing.
The head of the test hit club is made of a titanium alloy, the volume is 270 cc, the face thickness is 2.5 mm, the sole thickness is 3 mm, and the other head shell surface thickness is 1.5 mm. The rib is welded to the boundary portion between the face surface and the other shell surface of the head connected to the face surface so as to bridge the surface sandwiching the boundary portion.
[0008]
According to the test results, it was confirmed that what was not a problem with the previous small head occurred in the large head with a thin shell structure. That is, it has been clarified that the above-described conventional reinforcing means alone cannot avoid the torsional deformation from the buckling generated on the crown or the side shell surface. In addition, it has been found that the buckling occurs due to the main stress acting in the direction perpendicular to the wrinkles at a position where the number density of wrinkles generated in the brittle paint is high.
Therefore, in the present invention, reinforcing ribs are disposed on the back surface of each shell surface constituting the head except for the face and the sole along the direction of the principal stress detected by the wrinkles of the brittle paint, and the above-described buckling is performed. It suppresses or prevents torsional deformation.
[0009]
Specifically, in the case of arranging the ribs on the back surface of the first crown, when the head set on the lie angle and the loft angle of the regular viewed in plane, toward the head center portion from the crown back surface of the toe, back At least three ribs (A) and / or crowns with the side end on the toe side and the face side end on the heel side and inclined at an angle (θ) of 45 degrees or less with respect to the face center line At least inclined at an angle (φ) of 45 degrees or less with respect to the face center line, with the back side end located on the heel side and the face side end located on the toe side from the back wheel to the center of the head Three or more ribs (B) are provided. By arranging the ribs in this way, the main stress in the crown surface at the time of hitting the ball is reduced, and the torsional deformation of the crown due to buckling is prevented.
[0010]
In the present invention, the face center line (described later, line segment M in FIG. 1) is a point where the sole of the head set at a normal lie angle and loft angle is in contact with a horizontal plane (that is, a ground line). A line segment in the flight direction of the hit ball passing through the point Q) in FIG.
[0011]
Here, the distribution of principal stress occurring in the crown when hitting, the range in which the rib (A) and the rib (B) is provided, most heat - Fe of the ribs disposed in Le closer (A) - scan side The end of the rib (B), which is arranged so as not to cross the face side from the position near the
[0012]
Further, when placing a rib in the side rear surface, when the head set on the lie angle and the loft angle of the regular side view, the side back surface of the toe side, Fe from the back-side end - scan side There are provided three or more ribs (C) which are inclined substantially parallel to the ridgeline where the ends are raised and the crown and side shell surfaces intersect. By arranging the ribs in this way, the main stress in the toe side side surface is reduced when receiving an impact from a hit ball, and torsional deformation of the toe side side surface is prevented.
[0013]
Furthermore, when placing the ribs on the backside backside, when the head set on the lie angle and the loft angle of the regular and rear view, the backside backside, high toe-side end than the heel end Then, 3 to 5 ribs (D) are provided which are inclined substantially parallel to the ridgeline where the crown and the backside shell surface intersect. By disposing the ribs in this way, the main stress in the back side surface is reduced when receiving an impact by a hit ball, and torsional deformation of the back side surface is prevented.
[0014]
The shape of the ribs, Li blanking width (thickness), height, length respectively 2-4 mm, 2 to 5 mm, that Ru is in the range of 30~70mm preferred. With respect to the width (thickness) and height of the rib, if the lower limit is not satisfied, the rigidity of the rib is insufficient, and if the upper limit is exceeded, the head weight may increase excessively. In addition, when the rib length is less than the lower limit, the shell surface targeted for the head cannot be reinforced, and when the upper limit is exceeded, the head weight increases. Problem to come out.
[0015]
According to the reinforcing means of the present invention, the torsional deformation of the head at the time of hitting the ball is effectively reduced as described above, and only the region having the largest principal stress is required on each shell surface excluding the face and sole of the head. Since it is reinforced by the ribs having the minimum shape, the concern that the center of gravity of the head moves forward and the sweet area decreases due to the reinforcement is eliminated. In addition, since the head weight itself does not increase so much, there is no fear of adversely affecting the club swing.
