本発明は、電話回線網やインターネット又はLAN等のネットワークに接続してファクシミリデータや電子メールデータの送受信を行うことのできるネットワークファクシミリ装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
最近は、パーソナルコンピュータ、ワークステーション、さらにFAXサーバ等をネットワークに接続して、電子メール、ホームページ閲覧、ファクシミリ送受信を行うようになってきた。

図23に、FAXサーバを使用してファクシミリ送受信を行う場合のシステム構成を示す。クライアントマシン(パーソナルコンピュータ)での受信動作は次のようになる。まず、FAXモデム1001が電話回線の着信を受けてイメージデータを取り込み、FAXサーバ1002に渡す。FAXサーバ1002で動作しているFAXサーバソフトウェアがイメージデータを受け取り、ネットワークを介してファイルサーバ1003にイメージデータファイルとして蓄積する。ここまででファクシミリ受信データの蓄積が終了する。

受信イメージデータをクライアントマシン1004に取り込むためには、ユーザがクライアントマシン1004上で専用アプリケーションを起動し、ファイルサーバ1003よりネットワークを介してイメージデータファイルを読み出す。

また、最近ではインターネットFAXとWWWサーバとを組み合わせてファクシミリ受信データを再利用する方法も提案されている。これは、インターネットFAXが電話回線から受信したデータを電子メールに変換する機能を利用したものである。

図24に、インターネットFAXとWWWサーバを使用してファクシミリの送受信を行う場合のシステム構成を示す。クライアントマシンでの受信動作を説明する。

まず、インターネットFAX1101が電話回線を介して受信したイメージデータは、インターネットFAX内で電子メールの添付ファイル形式に変換されて電子メールの添付ファイルとしてWWWサーバ1103宛てに送信される。

インターネットFAX1101から転送された電子メールは、ネットワークを介して電子メールサーバ1102に受信される。電子メールサーバ1102に受信された電子メールは、再度ネットワークを介して宛先であるWWWサーバ1103へ転送される。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、上述のFAXサーバを用いたシステムでは、ファクシミリ受信データがクライアントマシンに到達するまでに、FAXサーバとファイルサーバとの間、ファイルサーバとクライアントマシンとの間をイメージデータが転送されるため、ネットワークトラフィックが増大するという問題がある。

また、上述のインターネットFAXとWWWサーバを用いたシステムでは、ファクシミリ受信データがクライアントマシンに到達するまでに、インターネットFAXと電子メールサーバとの間、電子メールサーバとWWWサーバとの間、WWWサーバとクライアントマシンとの間を、イメージデータが転送されるため、ネットワークトラフィックが増大するという問題がある。しかも、電子メールに添付したイメージデータはバイナリデータの約1.3倍にデータ容量が膨れ上がるため、一層ネットワークトラフィックが増大する。

本発明は、上述の課題に鑑みて為されたもので、データ転送によるネットワークトラフィックを低減させることのできるネットワークファクシミリ装置を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、電話回線を介してファクシミリデータを送受信するファクシミリ通信部と、ネットワークを介してデータを送受信するネットワーク通信部と、パネル部のキー操作に対応づけられた送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスを記憶する記憶部と、送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスを含むアドレス帳を記述した構造化文書を生成する生成部と、URLを使ってアクセスしてきたクライアントマシンの要求に応えて前記アドレス帳を記述した構造化文書を送信し、クライアントマシンが前記アドレス帳を記述した構造化文書に基づいて送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスの追加登録を要求してきたら、送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスの入力が可能な宛先追加画面を構成する構造化文書を送信するWWWサーバー部とを具備し、前記記憶部に記憶されているパネル部のキー操作に対応づけられた送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスは、前記生成部によりアドレス帳を記述した構造化文書に組み込まれるようにした。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の第1の態様は、電話回線を介してファクシミリデータを送受信するファクシミリ通信部と、ネットワークを介してデータを送受信するネットワーク通信部と、パネル部のキー操作に対応づけられた送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスを記憶する記憶部と、送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスを含むアドレス帳を記述した構造化文書を生成する生成部と、URLを使ってアクセスしてきたクライアントマシンの要求に応えて前記アドレス帳を記述した構造化文書を送信し、クライアントマシンが前記アドレス帳を記述した構造化文書に基づいて送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスの追加登録を要求してきたら、送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスの入力が可能な宛先追加画面を構成する構造化文書を送信するWWWサーバー部とを具備し、前記記憶部に記憶されているパネル部のキー操作に対応づけられた送信相手の電話番号または電子メールアドレスは、前記生成部によりアドレス帳を記述した構造化文書に組み込まれる構成を採る。

図1に本実施の形態にかかるネットワークファクシミリ装置の機能ブロックを示す。オペレーティングシステム上で動作するCPU1に、ROM2、RAM3及び外部記憶装置4がCPU1からアクセス可能に接続されている。ROM2にはサーバ側処理プログラムを初めとした各種プログラムが記憶され、RAM3はROM2に記憶されるプログラムの作業エリア等として使用される。また、外部記憶部4には圧縮されたイメージデータやHTMLファイルなどが格納される。

また、本実施の形態にかかるネットワークファクシミリ装置は、スキャナ5、プリンタ部6、パネル部7、圧縮・伸長部8、FAX・音声通信部9及びネットワーク制御部10を備えており、これら構成要素がCPU1の管理の下で動作するように構成されている。

一方、FAX・音声通信部9がFAXデータまたは音声データを受信した場合が電話回線からの受信である。電話回線からの受信である場合、FAX・音声通信部9がイメージデータ又は音声データを受信し(ST403)、受信データが音声データか否か判断する(ST404)。受信データが符号化されたイメージデータの場合は、TIFF変換部14に依頼して符号化データをTIFF形式に変換する(ST405)。TIFF形式に変換された受信データ(イメージデータ)にファイル名を(例えば「fax0001.tif」)付与して外部記憶部4に格納する(ST407)。また受信データが音声データの場合は、音声データをデジタル変換した後(ST406)、ファイル名を付与した音声ファイルを外部記憶部4に格納する(ST407)。

ドキュメントリスト生成部37は、新たな受信データの文書番号、日時、発信者、標題を、HTML文書に変換してリストデータを生成する。その一方で、受信リストhtmlを先頭からサーチして現在の受信リストの1行目にあたる最初のコメント行(<!--)を検出し、上記新たな受信データのリストデータを受信リストの1行目に挿入する。この更新された受信リストhtmlを外部記憶部4に戻すことにより、新たな受信データのリストがホームページ上に登録されたことになる。具体的には、受信リストページを表示するために予め用意されているHTMLファイルを読み込んで受信リストテーブル内に新たに格納された管理データである文書番号等の文字列を書き込んで編集する。編集された文書番号の文字列「00243」には、<A HREF="ifax0001.tif">のタグが付けられることにより、「00243」の文字列と受信ファイルであるifax0001.tifとがリンクされることになる。

次に、WWWサーバー部12の動作について説明する。図10はWWWサーバー部12の動作を示すフローチャートである。WWWサーバ通信部31は、HTTPプロトコルにしたがって動作することによりクライアントマシン202からネットワークを介してリクエストを受け取り又は応答を返す。WWWサーバ通信部31が受け取るリクエストはコマンドによってファイル要求とCGI処理要求との2つに大きく別けられる。

WWWサーバ通信部31で受け取られた受信データ(リクエスト)はCGIストリング解析部32へ与えられる。CGIストリング解析部32は、受信データからCGIストリングを解析する。CGI処理を行わない場合は(ST100)、ファイル送出部35が受信データに含まれた文書番号に基づいて該当ファイルを外部記憶部4から取出してクライアントへ返す(ST101)。
