Description
【0001】

【0024】
a)各アンテナ信号(Si)を復調するステップ;
b)前記信号(Si)の内容を示すコンテント(S)を有するコンテント信号を取得するため、対象とする信号として1つもしくは複数の信号成分の周波数帯に対応する周波数帯域上でバンドパスフィルタによって復調された信号をフィルタ処理するステップ;
c)前記信号(Si)のノイズを示すノイズ信号(N)を取得するため、ノイズの周波数帯域幅に対応する周波数帯域上でバンドパスフィルタによって復調された信号をフィルタ処理するステップ;
d)前記対象とする信号と前記ノイズ信号に対し自乗要素を適用するステップ;
e)ステップd)にて取得された信号をローパスフィルタによってフィルタ処理するステップ;
f)ステップe)で取得した信号を除し、それぞれのアンテナ信号(Si)に対する選択基準(Ci)を定めるステップ;
例えば、FM多重信号を適応する特別な場合において、周波数fnm とfnMはそれぞれ100kHz(>96kHz)と150kHz(FM局の信号帯域の上限)となっている。
【0040】
[fsm;fsM]
[fsm;fsM]
[fnm;fnM]

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for selecting one antenna from a plurality of antennas in a diversity antenna system. In particular, it relates to a method that includes better selection criteria based on measurement of the quality index of the antenna signal.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a communication network using a mobile terminal, for example, a vehicle that receives a radio signal, a signal between two corresponding devices uses a radio wave passing through a propagation channel. Transmission via such a propagation channel often results in a large element of communication disturbance.
[0003]
Among the large disturbances are signals caused by loss of power due to the distance between the transmitter and receiver, especially in an antenna with a large receiving aperture, for example, being received through several paths due to reflections on surrounding objects. And the presence of other signal sources that use the reception band of this system.
[0004]
In order to alleviate these problems, it is necessary to improve conventional systems, for example, by using adaptive filters or equalizers, increasing output power, or increasing emitter sites. However, in the competition of sales, it has been considered difficult to implement improvements in view of costs. In other respects, some of the technologies believed to be effective in solving the problem could not be adapted without significant changes to the current communications network infrastructure.
[0005]
Conventionally, many improvements have been considered for antennas. In particular, various types of transmission / reception antennas have been proposed in order to reduce the influence of disturbance (such as an antenna having a narrow main lobe for controlling the transmission / reception direction). However, in the case of application to a mobile terminal, since it is easy to introduce, the use of an omnidirectional antenna is considered to be a preferred mode.
[0006]
In order to address the problem, diversity systems have been used in conventional systems. By using various antennas to receive a large number of uncorrelated signals (signals that are not related to each other), one antenna signal is affected by the problem and the other signals are not affected There is.
[0007]
When various antennas are used, antenna signal selection processing is required. Processing can generally be classified into three technique categories.
[0008]
(1) A switching technique in which the same antenna signal is continued as long as a predetermined standard is satisfied, and is switched to another antenna signal when the standard is not met.
[0009]
(2) A selection technique in which all antenna signals are analyzed and the best one is selected based on selection criteria.
[0010]
(3) A combinatorial technique that independently applies signal phase and amplitude corrections to each antenna signal before final summation, taking into account the respective qualities.
[0011]
Application of (1) and (2) is limited to the selection of specific antenna signals based on selection criteria. Theoretically, when the combination technique is used, the quality of the signal is improved. However, since the system is complicated, the selection technique is generally considered to be preferable in consideration of the cost.
[0012]
Appropriate selection criteria and quality index of the antenna signal are important to improve the performance of the diversity antenna system.
[0013]
For example, several selection criteria are utilized based on the use of one or more quality indexes (see, for example,
[0014]
Commonly used quality indexes fall into the following categories:
[0015]
1) Received signal strength indicator
2) Received signal quality indicator based on received signal strength
3) Cyclic redundancy check indicator (CRC)
4) Bit error rate (BER)
5) Preamble correlation amplitude indicators 1) and 2) often indicate that the signal strength is often not related to the quality of the received signal due to reception or interference through multiple paths, which is a real problem. There is a big problem. In fact, when disturbed, the received signal strength is greatly increased, while the signal is greatly disturbed and sometimes unusable.
[0016]
Indicators 3), 4), 5) are first related to digital signals, and in addition, when applying them, at least two auxiliary steps of signal demodulation and decoding steps need to be performed. is there. The execution of ancillary steps makes the system more complex but does not guarantee that it will always give better results. Furthermore, these criteria do not apply to analog signals such as FM radio signals.
[0017]
Besides that, it is proposed to compare the S / N ratio of the received signal and the frequency demodulated (FM) to select the signal having the optimal signal to noise ratio (S / N ratio) (for example, , See Patent Document 4). As a result, the selection criterion is the S / N ratio. However, it does not explain how to obtain the S / N ratio here. Actually, actual measurement of S / N ratio is almost impossible. Furthermore, the systems described herein require the use of frequency diversity. This further complicates the system and increases costs on the receiving and transmitting sides.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has been devised to eliminate such drawbacks. In particular, one of the objects of the present invention is to eliminate such drawbacks in the process of antenna selection in diversity antenna systems with the advantages of accuracy, speed and low cost.
[0023]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The system comprises a diversity comprising at least two antennas, a selection based on a selection criterion determined by measurement of signal quality, and a signal including one or more components that are frequency modulated and transmitted by radio waves. The antenna signal selection process in the antenna system is characterized by the following steps.
[0024]
a) demodulating each antenna signal (S i );
b) In order to obtain a content signal having a content (S) indicating the content of the signal (S i ), a band-pass filter on a frequency band corresponding to the frequency band of one or a plurality of signal components as a target signal Filtering the signal demodulated by
c) filtering a signal demodulated by a bandpass filter over a frequency band corresponding to the frequency bandwidth of the noise to obtain a noise signal (N) indicative of the noise of the signal (S i );
d) applying a square factor to the signal of interest and the noise signal;
e) filtering the signal obtained in step d) with a low-pass filter;
f) determining the selection criterion (C i ) for each antenna signal (S i ) by dividing the signal obtained in step e);
g) comparing the selection criteria (C i ); and h) selecting the antenna signal (S i ) based on the comparison of the results of step g).
[0025]
In a further preferred selection method, before step a), it is checked whether there is a signal of interest in the antenna signal.
[0026]
In the same processing, when the target signal is present in at least one antenna signal, the antenna signal (S i ) having a high selection criterion (C i ) is selected in step h), and the target signal is When none of the antenna signals exists, in step h), an antenna signal (S i ) having a low selection criterion (C i ) is selected.
[0027]
Such a feature of the present invention makes it possible to define a selection criterion that develops in the same direction as the S / N ratio, this setting cannot determine the signal, but allows the optimal selection of the signal, Signal quality can be estimated. In this way, the optimum selection criterion is obtained.
[0028]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
[0029]
The antenna signal selection process in the present invention uses a selection criterion based on a signal quality index. The following example is a process applied to the field of FM radio signals transmitted from radio stations and received by a vehicle radio receiver.
[0030]
In the conventional research, the inventor has determined the S / N ratio of the received signal after frequency demodulation as an indicator of excellent signal quality. However, it is impossible to actually measure this S / N ratio. Therefore, the present invention proposes that this S / N ratio is estimated by a simple and reliable method, and that this estimated value is used for setting a selection criterion.
[0031]
In general, in FM signal communication, an FM signal having a frequency bandwidth of 300 kHz is propagated at a carrier frequency of 88 MHz to 108 MHz in Europe and 76 MHz to 90 MHz in Japan.
[0032]
The demodulated FM signal is composed of monaural, pilot tone, stereo, RDS, SWIFT (Europe) or DARC (Japan), etc. and occupies the maximum bandwidth of 96 kHz, so it is called FM multiplexed signal (baseband signal)
When the signal is not affected by the disturbance, the power spectral density of noise in the baseband N bbi for the signal of the antenna i is obtained by the
[0033]
[Expression 1]
The k i (t) for the antenna i is generally constant in the frequency band f and is in an inversely proportional state to the received power.
[0034]
Thus, a particular frequency band B; noise power N B is the [f min f max], is the integral value of
[0035]
[Expression 2]
Actually, for example, disturbance due to disturbance due to reflection to surrounding objects (multipath reception), the Doppler effect, etc. frequently occurs, and the power spectral density existing in the target signal region increases. (FIG. 4 Antenna 2). However, the present inventors have found that even after FM demodulation of the received signal, the quality remains related to the development direction of the S / N ratio in the frequency band of the signal of interest. That is, it can be inferred that the S / N ratio is an efficient indicator of the quality of the received signal. However, since signals are mixed here (target signal and noise signal), it is impossible to measure the S / N ratio in the frequency band of the target signal.
[0036]
In the present invention, the estimation of the S / N ratio is established by comparing received signal energies in two different frequency bands after FM demodulation. This guess establishes a standard C to be developed that depends on the same direction as the S / N ratio.
[0037]
A first preferred embodiment embodying the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In this embodiment, two antennas A1 and A2 are used (FIG. 1). This method is also applied when three or more antennas are used. The signal is an FM multiplex radio signal that contains information in mono, stereo, pilot tone format, and in formats such as RDS or SWIFT (Europe) DARC (Japan), digital data information related to ancillary information Is included.
[0038]
Each antenna signal S i is first processed by the
[0039]
Next, the second filters 3 and 13 filter the signal in the frequency band only when noise is expressed by Δf noise = f nM −f nm . In this equation, the maximum frequency that is a noise band is f nM and the minimum frequency that is a noise band is f nm . For example, in a special case where an FM multiplexed signal is applied, the frequencies f nm and f nM are 100 kHz (> 96 kHz) and 150 kHz (the upper limit of the signal band of the FM station), respectively.
[0040]
Thus, the signal S and N is indicative of the signal and each frequency band of the noise signal of interest at high frequencies in the signal S i, the signal of interest and the noise of the combination of content, respectively.
[0041]
Thereby, these signals are processed by the square elements 4, 14 and subsequently processed by the low-pass filters 5, 15 having a frequency bandwidth of eg 100 kHz. This value is defined based on the inventors' experiments to suppress high frequency amplitudes and stabilize the transmitted signal, and is given here as an example only.
[0042]
Filter signals of each antenna is input to Debaiza 6,16, and outputs the C i are representative of the signal quality.
[0043]
C i of each antenna signal S i is compared by the
[0044]
Calculation circuit CC i Calculates the selection criterion C i according to the following equation:
[0045]
[Equation 3]
S i Is the energy of the content (content) of the target signal in the frequency band of the target signal. [F sm; f sM]
N i Is the noise energy within the frequency band of the signal of interest.
[F sm; f sM]
N I Is the energy of high-frequency noise within the noise-only frequency band. [F nm ; f nM ]
Accordingly, each demodulated antenna signal is input to a calculation circuit that outputs a selection reference value of the antenna signal. The selection reference value is transmitted to the
[0046]
In accordance with
[0047]
[Expression 4]
When equation 4 is used in equation 3, the following equation holds.
[0048]
[Equation 5]
A is a constant of +, for in each antenna is the same, C i is seen be developed in a manner similar to the S / N ratio after demodulation of the signal. Thus, after demodulation of the signal, the selection criterion C i is simply determined and the antenna is selected based on C i . The higher generally C i values, there is a high signal quality.
[0049]
Therefore, this selection method is based on noise after FM demodulation (Equation 1), and is noise estimation determined outside the frequency band of the signal of interest.
[0050]
This principle allows a very simple system to select signals based on one reliable criterion.
[0051]
In another mode (mode) realized, the system is further simplified by using a calculation circuit using a combination of one or two routers and one storage FIFO.
[0052]
In FIG. 1, each calculation circuit CC i is the same for each antenna signal. Therefore, if, for example, the input router 9 that transmits an antenna signal to a calculation circuit is used and signals from each antenna are received alternately, only one calculation circuit CC is required.
[0053]
FIG. 2 shows a second selection mode with two antenna reception and one calculation circuit. Before the signal is transmitted to the calculation circuit CC, the two

[0057]
Therefore, it is possible to select a signal as a selection criterion function as described above. Further, it is possible to select a necessary signal having other characteristics by simply changing the calculation circuit.
[0058]
In practice, the calculation circuit as described above can select a signal based on a specific component of a target value by selecting an appropriate frequency band. However, it is also possible to analyze other components of the mixed signal by modifying the frequency band of the target value. In practice, when the
[0059]
Among all the antenna signals received in the diversity antenna system, there are disturbances (disturbances) due to surroundings that do not include the component of interest. In addition, some radio stations simply do not transmit FM multiplexed signal components. For example, when there is no target signal among all antenna signals received in the diversity antenna system, such as an RDS component, it is desirable to apply the above processing.
[0060]
A situation is considered where two monaural signals are received and the signal of interest for selection criteria is a stereo or RDS component. The former signal has good reception quality with respect to the monaural component, and the latter signal does not have good reception quality with respect to the monaural component.
[0061]
FIG. 4 is a graph showing the frequency band of the FM demodulated signal for each signal.
[0062]
The reception quality of the second signal is low, and the noise completely blocks the monaural component. On the other hand, in the first signal, various components in the signal can be identified. Therefore, the monaural component constituting the signal is selected as the correct signal for the first signal by the normal selection process. However, by using Equation 5 for the second signal, the following result can be obtained.
[0063]
[Formula 6]
C2 corresponds to the selection criterion, and the noise of the power spectral density is almost constant over the entire frequency band, so it is almost equal to the ratio of the frequency band used for the signal of interest to the frequency band used for noise. equal.
[0064]
In the first signal, if the power spectral density in the frequency band used for the signal of interest is defined as noise according to
[0065]
[Expression 7]
However, for FM multiplexed signals, the noise frequency band [100 kHz; 150 kHz] is assumed to exist in a higher frequency range than the frequency band [0 kHz; 96 kHz] of the target signal. Therefore,
[Equation 8]
When the same processing as above is applied, in the diversity antenna system, when there is no target signal among the reception signals of all antennas, the second signal with inferior signal quality is selected by comparing the selection reference values. End up.
[0066]
In order to avoid this problem, it is also possible to add a detection module before the selection of the antenna signal in the signal of interest, such as stereo or RDS / DARC components, in at least one antenna. In fact, when there is a signal of interest, the antenna signal with the highest selection reference value is selected. If the target signal does not exist in all antennas, the antenna signal having the lowest selection reference value is selected. Therefore, if there is no signal of interest, it is possible to simply reverse the selection.
[0067]
Note that the configuration and the control mode employed in the embodiment are merely examples, and appropriate modifications may be made without departing from the present invention.
[0068]
